  • This or a 1070?

Performance wise, Vega 56. But be aware that Vega 56 needs a better power supply. I reckon 1070Ti below $600 may be a better option.

Yup… I'm firmly in the freesync camp now though. Can't imagine paying so much more for Gsync these days. I'm shocked that I have an all amd system these days.

    • +5

Adaptive sync is also worth taking into account, you pay a pretty big premium for gsync over freesync

Damn, bought this for $700 recently. Great card.

Amd Navi is right around the corner, so if you can hold out before then, youll probably get a better price

    • Are there new rumours? Last I heard Navi is supposed to be a midrange RX580 level GPU.

      • They teased the news during one of their statements, saying it is a massive performance gain over the 1080

    • +10

      "right around the corner" lol.

It won't be here till end of Q2 2019, earliest.

Yes I know which clickbait article you're sourcing your info from, that was talking the Vega 7nm refresh for enterprise, not navi.

      • "It won't be here till Q2 2019, earliest."

Where did you source that info from? Another clickbait article? I'm genuinely interested where you got that prediction.

        • +1

Their prediction is as good as 'right around the corner'.

    • +1

Q2 2019 is the release date.

Later this year is Vega on 7nm.

  • Give me ray tracing or give me death.

    • +7

That'll be about $2500 AUD for death.

Low FPS for the win! ;)

Saw this deal as well, not sure whether to post it because AMD is 'supposedly' going to unveil 7nm chips (in Q1 of 2019) because of their partnership with TSMC.

It's a good price though and will be a good pick for anyone that owns Freesync monitors.

  • Dammit

I bought the gigabyte Vega 56 and have had a few issues with it.. Might return for this one.

  • luck of the draw if samsung HBM.

My Strix Vega 56 (3 of them) are all micron. Worst performing of all my cards.

Dont be lured into the Strix name.

    • Stupid question, but how do I know that chip I have?

      • downloading gpu-z should tell you.

        • Gpu-z isn't really accurate I'm afraid. It says Samsung HBM on my card (I have this gpu already) but if I checked through the UEFI bios. It says Hynix. Not sure why as well.

  • +1

Been enjoying Vega 56 for 13 months for around $50 more. Prices still need to drop.

  • +1

Might be time for me to offload my NVIDIA to use free sync

  • I'm unable to apply PIXEL code…not sure what is going on…
