                  • @annielee: That's weird, the person who served me (Frank) and his manager were very nice and I felt they genuinely wanted to help. But, at least you still got good GC deals despite the $1.50 out of pocket, that's still more than 40% off Uniqlo, Myer, Restaurants and anything inside Emporium!

        • +1

Went there this afternoon and got a $60 Emporium gift card put across three Amex with no issues. Total cost was $61.50.

Was an Asian lady with a British accent who did it for me. She was very helpful.

She was also confirming a story my sister told me when she did her GCs yesterday about a person who had NINETY Amex cards. There was also someone with EIGHTY that day as well.

          • @danielh: I got her today (Cynthia) and she let me split a $160 card across 8 cards. Can confirm that she's lovely and helpful.

          • @danielh: I think she meant 19 cards not 90.

    • What's the "trading name" on the Shop Small site? I can't seem to find anything relating to "Emporium" at the location.

      • +2

It’s called Emporium Gift Cards, and shows up for me on the map (actually that’s how I found it, by using the keyboard Emporium)

  • the promo's disappeared from the saved offers tab in my amex website account. has this happened to anyone else? it was showing under the saved offers tab on friday..

    • +1

Yes. It happened to mine. Don't worry, it will get track up to 5 statement credits.

    • It is still there. Just shows up as a ‘used’ offer.

  • Is there anything that can be done for stores who say they don't accept amex? Went out of my way today to visit somewhere but they said cash only.

    • +1

      Call ahead?
      Small stores… Can't force them.
      But I usually round up.

Last night lady pointed to the sign no spit payment. I asked her to round up my $73 bill to $80.
      She split 4x $20. Last $20 was entered as $13 + $7 tip.

      • +1

Ok I contacted amex and they will give me the $10 credit and follow up the issue with the merchant.

        Great success!

  • +1

Darn. Seems like tong li supermarket is not eligible this year.

    • +6

The following ones on the list are similar to Tongli. If you live close, you can try using the card there.

      Jiayuan Supermarket Merrylands

Sing Kee Asian Grocery Store Parramatta

      Zetciti Asian Supermarket Zetland

      Jia Le Fu Supermarket Hurstville

      Maosheng Asian Supermarket Dee Why

Mr J Asian Grocery Supermarket Miranda

Ngan Kee Asian Grocer Neutral Bay

      • Much thanks but Im near Haymarket. not close to these

      • Is any these stores sell their own gift cards like Tong Li?

My long memories of Asian groceries stores always have attitude when you even using card. They will insist CASH ONLY at all cost and look p'off even show a bank card, let alone using amex

        • I posted here for the nearby people to try and hopefully one can report the result like bbqwer did.

I may try the one in Parramatte one day.

          • @Neoika: Sing Kee @ Parramatta is no go. No AmEx and pricey.

            • @Neoika: Another Asia Groceries Store - EVERSPRING SUPERMARKET - 421 Sussex Street, Haymarket, New South Wale is located in Chinatown and listed in the shopsmall program.

      • +1

Jia Le Fu Supermarket Hurstville is eligible, 40cents surcharge. Staff are aware of this promotion.

Jasmine Asia Market Maroubra works, no surcharge.

      • The Advanced Store (Hai Long) in Hurstville is also participating.

      • +1

Jiayuan Supermarket Merrylands has a small written (note) sign next to the cashier "NO AMEX". Prices are also high compare to Tongli.

    • +1

      Cabramatta eastland supermarket works

      • Thanks bbqwer. But eastland supermarket is not listed in the shopsmall map. Have you receive a confirmation email back from AMEX?

        • +3

          Yes it works.

Your purchase at EASTLANDS SUPERMARKET just earned you a $10 credit.
Remember, your Shop Small offer is valid up to 5 times at different
participating small businesses for a total of $50 back*.

          • @bbqwer: Thank you for the confirmation, bbqwer. I will be shopping there for the asian grocery.

Meadowbank Newsagency 64 Constitution Rd Meadowbank No surcharge still very friendly but do on saturday morning after 7:30am if many cards

  • Used 2 different Amex card at Mamak Chatswood for $28, but I didn’t get the AMEX email. The shop is listed in the map

    • Should have only worked on one Amex if you only spent $28. Was at least one of the Amex transactions $20 or more?

      • Sorry I was not clear in my comments. I used 2 cards each for $28 spend. Total bill was $57

        • Sometimes it will a couple of hours to receive the email. That happened to one of the shop i visited. It took slightly over 2 hours to receive the email.

        • +4

Sorry I was not clear in my comments. I used 2 cards each for $28 spend. Total bill was $57

          Who paid the remaining $1?

  • Thanks. Went to one newsagency and topped up all 7x $20. 7emails received right away.

    • which one

      • Royal children's Hospital zoukz.
My go to for the past 3 yrs.

        • Royal MELBOURNE Children’s Hospital?

          • +2

@danielh: It's Royal Melbourne hospital on Flemington/Grattan St. You need to go past the Zouki cafe and further in on the left is the Zouki newsagent.

            • @neil: My only issue with Zouki convenience store at Royal Melbourne Hospital is that one time I asked to split payment across two Amex cards and the staff member grabbed my cards and charged the same card twice (instead of once each), decreasing the discount proportion.

For those living/working in North Sydney

Bay Mini Mart, 4 Bay Road, Shop 2, - the guy is very nice and no surcharge for opal top ups! Did two cards, immediately got 2 emails.
Fastway, 40 Miller Street, Shop 1 - agreed to do opal top up but wanted 1$ surcharge for each transaction, I decided that this is too much.
Berry Street Minimart, 124 Walker Street, Shop 1, the guy said that amex is accepted but not for opal top up.

    • +1

You must have been lucky. Tried Bay Mini Mart and said $2 surcharge. walked out.

      • Must be inconsistent I got hit with a $1.50 surcharge this morning at Bay Mini Mart.

        • Today the guy asks for $3 .. so just walk out

  • Can confirm that myki topup at Pinewood Authorised Newsagency works. No surcharge

Remember, your Shop Small offer is valid up to 5 times at different

  • Hi guys - I read several threads back that you do get notification emails when you redeem your cash back.

Has anyone not receive any emails at all?

    • +1

Yes, one of the merchant I visited, is listed in the shop small map, I did not receive any email and also did not receive statement credit.

      • Thanks mate! I’ll have to send emails to Amex then…

  • +12

All the free Shipster free delivery codes now can be used

        • Well you gotta spend $25 at least for this to work.

          • @Turd: In that case happy to spend 25

          • @Turd: Is that the min spend for deliveroo?

            • @sagrules: No, Because $20 is the shop small offer, so you have to spend $20 ($5 Delivery). or using a free delivery. So over $20 for your cc to be charged.

    • Yes, receive the email too!

    • -1

Can you split the payments with deliveroo?
Ie. use 2 cards for $50 spend?

    • how do you guys pay deliveroo with amex?
I keep getting card is not valid?

      we can't use paypal right?

      • why did i get downvoted for asking a question??

        • No idea.

Maybe your amex is blocking deliveroo

          • @Turd: tried with 3 different cards, all got rejected.
            bugger…. :(

    • Going to give this a go now, no confirmation email yet, i wonder if it is only if the shop you are using Deliveroo with is a Shop Small participant?

  • +2

Chatswood Chase Nextra not doing Opal topup

  • Sorry if this has already been asked but if there is a store that has two locations and both registered for shop small and on the amex map, would my card be treated as two different transactions or only eligible for one $10?

    • Yes.

    • +1

Last year they treated it as one location only and I had to argue over the extra credits for multiple cards.

This situaution arises at Nextra Chermside in Qld.

I rang Amex yesterday about this and they have entered on my profile to honour both locations. ie 2 transactions.

      • What did you tell them? This has happened to me this year and 2x agents have both said only 1 business for each card, the different locations don't matter. They have both been very adamant this is not the case.

        • +1

Irang Nov 1 and pointed out there were two locations in Chermside showing n the map.

The guy assured me they would be treated as two locations and I asked him to add a note on my profile.

I checked and they have not both been credited.

Will phone them today and keep you poster

    • Last year it was treated as two separate transactions for me so I got two lots of credit. However this year I only got credit back for one. I’m going to contact Amex and follow up.

      • Yep, same happened to me for the Nextras at Garden City. Had to ring up to get the 2nd credit manually added to my card.

  • +2

Desi Groceries , 5 Station Street Ashfield
    No surcharge.
No fuss about paying with Amex

  • Saved $20 from The Burwood Hotel in Burwood and Meat Master in Eastwood.
    Thanks OP.

    • Did you receive an email from AMEX for the Meat Master in Eastwood?

  • Can confirm - Humphreys 60-62 The Corso Manly, Opal top up and no surcharge and email from Amex received. Better to do one card at a time as very busy

  • Nextra Chatswood Opal top up confirmed, $1 surcharge.

    • Presumably you mean the Nextra in Westfield. I was only charged 50c last week although the sales assistant did inform me that there would be a 5% Amex surcharge. She just couldn't calculate it properly.

      • Sorry yeah the Westfield one, not Chatswood Chase.

    • What about the other commenter saying that Chatswood chase nextra doesn't do opal?

      • +1

Nextra Chatswood Chase does do Opal but they are not part of SS this year.
