For some people Eureka could be interesting for some others it's just wasted money and boring.
Once you're there you see "concrete all around" because Melbourne has became tall big concrete buildings (another person's impression).
And then what else can you do there? Buy a hot dog or a boring and expensive made in China souvenir? Actually there seem to be ONE thing interesting to do but you must pay for it!
Yeah Teachers' Day, bring in hundreds of students and we'll only care about that.

Any worse than, say, Melbourne Museum?

At least there's something to learn, other options Queen's Gardens or walking along Yarra River.

I've never paid to use Eureka or Rialto (worked there occasionally).

But at night it's a great chance to sit and contemplate life, and humanity. Gain some 'higher' understanding, insight and clarity.

Do you go to an art gallery and think…ok I've seen the pictures, now what is there to do?
No…you go to absorb what you are seeing. Contemplate it and see if it has an impact on you and resonates with your life and thinking.

Not everything is about ticking off things to do.

  • Edge experience was the most underwhelming part of it in my opinion. Unfortunately I did go on a day when it was FULL of school kids so that's probably why. Rest of it is good though.

    • how about over the edge experience….there would be same entertainment

  • Try walking the plank 3D virtual experience and it's free..the view is better than that ferris wheel at docklands…

Now that Wheel is an absolute joke. Overlooks not much and expensive for the fact you are limited to the time you can spend up there…given "up" is a tiny fraction of the time you are actually on the thing.

I wanted to go to Kangaroo Island and stay 2 nights but after checking the prices I decided that my money was best invested if I spent 1 week in Bali.

You can climb Eureka without having to spend a cent.
I went to an open for inspection for a $4m apartment >70 floors up.
You don't have to buy anything.

True OzBargainer, did they validate parking?

    • Wow, I've always wondered how much an apartment there was.
