  • May be targeted, but I also got an email offering 10,000 bonus Flybuys points with this deal. Check your email/Flybuys account if you're after this deal and want a points sweetener.

  • Mobile broadband Sim plans are $10 cheaper/month with an Optus mobile plan. I just signed up for 200gb/month for $50/month after discount. Previously was paying $70/month for 100gb

    • How did you mange that? They have gone from - 'sorry, if it's not advertised on the site there's nothing we can offer' - to all of the above arrangements. I finally (after 3 months of useless online chats and calls) was able to get 50GB per month on during the 20% off offer on the $55/month plan. $44.month is down to $39 after $5/month being knocked off for useless customer service. Not sure this is such a good deal seeing yours.
You can share data between devices yes?

      • +1

This month they have 200gb for $60/month - just on the main page here https://www.optus.com.au/shop/broadband/mobile-broadband

I asked via chat if the $10/month discount applied for having a mobile plan with them as well and they said it did and arranged it for me. The data is shared. Paying $81.50/month (this phone plan with student discount + $50/month mobile broadband) for combined 230gb

        • Cheers thanks

  • For anyone else that may be trying to negotiate with telstra, They offered my $39/month for 30gb. Suits my needs well.

  • Just wanted to add that on the MyOptus App, it’s showing $0 for the Mobile TV steaming add on.

    • I had that on my plan- came up as $0 for mobile streaming. So I activated it- then of course the bill came and i was charged the $10 or whatever it is.
It's a 'bug' in the app- they removed the mobile streaming and ever so generously waived the $10 charge…. dodgy.

      • They acknowledge this via support chat so I asked for credit back with no issues.

  • I was told online the 5bux extra for tv streaming wouldn't work on my 50inch tv ?

    • According to the posts on Whirlpool forum, as long as your TV is tethered to your phone it "should" work.

  • Just to confirm, we need to activate 'Music Streaming' and 'Optus Sports' manually and won't be charged anything extra? Also under National Geographic App, it says 'unavailable on your current plan' - thought this was included? Cheers.

  • Tasty Tuesday Optus perks is up, another free Oporto meal. At this rate, montly fee will be offset by free Oporto meals.

  • READ IF UPGRADING SIM ONLY CONTRACT

I just inquired with Optus about upgrading from my current 12 month contract $30 sim only plan, to the 12 month $35 sim only plan. I was told I would incur an $11.50 cancellation fee. When I asked why when I'm upgrading, They replied that it would be in breach of my 12 month contract. So you cannot upgrade with an existing 12 month contract.

    • Have a look at your current plan's CIS, the $35 Promo plan have this on the CIS:

      Plan changes
You can change your plan during your contract term to another My Promo Plus 12M SIM plan provided you move to a plan with
a higher monthly access fee. You cannot change your plan during the contract term to a plan with the same or lower monthly
access fee. If you change your plan during your contract term a fee may apply.

  • Man, they said it would cost $80 in cancellation fees for me to get this.
I have the $40 30GB SIM only plan, ending in 4 months.

Optus always do this, reduce the price after you're signed up.

  • In the market for a SIM only deal as well as NBN (FTTN - 50/20mbps speed) for the house. Upon conversing with online live chat person, best offer I got was this + 10% discount on the NBN plan bringing the NBN down to $58.50/month instead of the advertised price $65/month.

What are peoples thought on the deal and if I should go for it or not?

    • You can actually get $10 off if you bundle it with a sim/mobile service, so maybe try again. I tried with several stores to get this deal with a decent discount but was given differing answers depending on where I went.

      • Interesting. Will give it a go to see if I can get $10 off instead of just 10% for bundling
