i believe they will beat any competitor's by 10%

      Yeah, beat with a stick.

    • Budget tomatoes.. What make them budget?

      • +1

thinking this would be perfect to add tomy other 'tomato plants'

      • cheaper. compared to more mature plants in bigger pots.

      • +2

The tomatoes are cheap; a bargain … but the water isn't.

        • But water is an underpriced resource in Australia.

  • +3

you just throw a few seeds from a tomato on some soil and they grow

    • Edit.

    • Too late for seeds in Melbourne

      • Why… genuine question

        • +2

Not really too late for seeds. In Melbourne, some people don't transplant seedlings to their garden beds till the weekend before Melbourne Cup.

Depends if you want early tomatoes.

Not really too late for seeds.

            It's pretty late for melbourne.

You'd want to have your seedlings in within the next few weeks, otherwise your fruit wont be ready until late Feb which is too late in the season.

              @jv: Too late for what?

                Too late for what?

Too late to plant tomato seeds for a good crop.

                • @jv: Why? There's plenty of sun in Feb/mar.

                  • @[Deactivated]:

                    Why?

Give it a try then. I already have…

If you want to go with seeds, they need to be planted by end of Aug.

Melbourne only has a small window for growing tomatoes (unless you have a greenhouse)

That garden bed is a bargain. Usually $99

    • +3

      Can you sleep on it?

      • +3

I'm sure you could try after a big night.

      • Can you sleep on it?

        In it you can

        Can you sleep on it?

If you're a tomato plant, then yes.

      • +1

I'll give you an answer in the morning.

Not really, aldi was selling them for $20 a couple of weeks ago and many stores still have stock. It's been even reduced to $15 now. Went to keilor east store this morning and they literally has 2 pallets load there

  • +1

    Excellent price.

  • How much is it normally?

    • +1

usually around $3-$4 unless they are grafted, then you are looking at double the price.

      • +1

  • What type of tomatoes? Cherry or the bigger ones?

    • +4

They’re the bigger type, Grosse Lisse variety

    • +1

Just saw two varieties at Bunnings now: Cherry and “Large fruiting”

  • this is the best thing since sliced bread!

  • Do these fruit more than once?

    • +1

They should fruit for around 6-8 weeks depending on how well you feed them and keep fungus at bay…

  • +1

Last year they had 3 types and pretty much all that was left was cherry

    • and pretty much all that was left was cherry

      Cherries grow on trees

  • How much are these usually?

    • +3

Not sure, I need to ketchup on the usual price.

    • usually around $3-$4 unless they are grafted, then you are looking at double the price.

  • They had them at Bunnings as herbs - there were other herbs available as well. I asked the assistant if they were tomatoes, and she told me that they weren't, they were herbs. However the pots had labels, not immediately visible unless you lifted them up. Mine were Grosse lisse tomatoes.

  • Sold out at Bethania Bunnings in case anyone was wondering.
