Those curtains look absolutely useless if you're fussy and want true blackout curtains - i.e. no light instrusion whatsoever. In that photo, for example, you're going to get heaps of light coming in through the top of the curtain, and most likely the sides and bottom as well. Not good for sleeping, maybe okay for a living room. Either way, I would consider it borderline false advertising.

Paying over the top for the material etc., when the end result will be disappointing.

What blackout curtains would you suggest
I would suggest going out checking the materials before putting them in your home. The material might be crap, have poor thermal properties, incorrect fit etc. When your planning on keeping something like curtains in your home for the next 10 years, have a physical look around. If this is for your shed or something else you don't really care about, than look for something on ebay.
I have these (from their eBay store) and they are in fact 100% light blockout material.
