pixel perfect - GOOGLE PIXEL 3 WITH DOUBLE DATA new Google Pixel 3. Get double data from $58/mth Lease Plan

NEW GOOGLE PIXEL 3 WITH DOUBLE DATA

Get double data from $58/mth on selected 24mth leases.

    Double data ends 13/01/19

So does it come with double data?

    • Is the phone the bargain, or is the double data the bargain?

      • +1

phone + double data is the bargain.

    • +4

Double Data expires soon… unless there is an extension like every other previous Double Data offer.

I am just happy you can get Pixel on Optus and not exclusive to Telstra anymore.

      • THIS

  • +23

Lease plans are poor value for money. Avoid

    • +2

agreed, i included the Own the phone deal in description

    • +3

Do you use or give away the phone after it's out of contract? Mine are almost always (fu**ed) after a year or two, battery life is completely shot by then

      • But in that case Google offer 2 years warranty that's way I'm just buying Google or Huawei phones.

  • +1

why would you sign a lease plan to save $240, better value if you sell the phone after using it.

    • -4

Meh, in 2 years will it be worth much more than that?

      • +2

maybe 400-600 in 2 years time. it's still worth having.

        • -1

          As a 2nd hand phone?

The pixel 1 is $499 brand new from Kogan at the moment. $599 from JB.
          $150-$250 on eBay 2nd hand.

I dont see it being worth more than $300, and then if youre selling on eBay you lose a bunch on fees.

          • +2

@ScruffTheJanitor: $300 is still $60 in your pocket at the end of the 2 years, also you'd use gumtree or facebook since they are free.

    • +2

because lots of people don't like selling stuff, same reason why people trade-in their car. They know they can get better prices privately and everyone would tell them not to be stupid and sell it privately to get more money, everyone. They would still traded-in the car.

  • what happens in lease plans if you break the phone while in the contract?
EDIT: nvm, "Damage and cancellation fees may apply." so it seems that you will have to pay for damages..

    • You pay the extra cost to have it repair in a sellable condition that optus can resell it on

  • +1

Seeing that the Pixel 1st gen go for between $200 - $240 on FB Marketplace and Ebay, why is the lease plan such bad value?

    • +1

Because thats how companies make money

Also people are lazy and don't want to list on marketplaces.

Same reason why trade-ins you get such low value

      • Companies make money from just about everything they sell. Thats an odd reason to think its a bad deal.

        • You don’t usuall have the option to capture the value the company is getting so easily though.

    • +1

You don't own the phone at the end of 24 months and any damage to the phone is at your own expense and liability. It a win for optus and lose for the contractee.

    • Just because its for sale for 200-240 doesnt mean anyone is buying them

  • Don't forget you get $10 off if you add to the existing plan.

    • only if you're new customer… meaning a new phone number and not existing Optus number, I tried and failed to get this discount.

      • "New customer" only requires a port out and in again yes?

        • Correct. thats the way

      • yea I think it only works on add-on plan. I got $10 off an iPad a few weeks ago without any trouble

    • this sounds great. do you have a link for reference? i'm not able to find any mention of this on the page

  • I actually think 65$ lease plan is pretty good deal and u can upgrade to new phone after a year for 99$ . that's if u want to get new phone every year.

    • +1

And recontract on a new plan. If you are on a limited price plan (eg $59 iPhone 8 plan) there's no guarantee they'll match it with same inclusions.

  • +2

I am waiting for Telstra F&F deal for $59

    • +1

From a business perspective: the Telstra F&F Pixel 2XL for $59/month (possible discount to $49) was the best and worst thing they ever did.

Got a lot more customers but $49 x 24 months = $1176. I'm not sure how much the stores buy the phones for but there's barely profit in the two years.

But then again, their customer base expanded greatly - you can't put a monetary value on that.

      • yes . i think it wont happen again sadly. I m on my pixel 2 telstra plan atm with 20G for 49$ .

        • My wife is on that same plan but for $59/month. What do I have to do in chat to get it to $49/month? I tried once but they said it was already discounted $10 and can't discount further..

          • @scottySK:

            I tried once

That there is your problem. Persistence pays off.

Out of interest did you wife sign up in the Christmas special or the March one?

            • @pennypincher98: March via JB Hi Fi

              • +1

@scottySK: Ah ok, there was an actual method for the Christmas ones but you've just got to be lucky with the March ones.

I signed up March via Telstra store (with the only stock around) and haven't been able to get the $59/month discount but I know some of my mate's and plenty on here have.

  • So is it $68 total? Or is that just the "handset" cost?

    • that's the total cost per month for 24 months on a $45 phone plan and $23 phone payment cost.

Will Optus enable the wifi calling on Google pixel 3? So far only iPhone or Samsung on Optus.

    • Who needs it with unlimited call plans now days

      • +1

need the Wifi calling in my place as inside the building I have no mobile reception.

        • How about using WhatsApp for voice calls over wi-fi? Works for me.

          • +1

@Trishool: For work purposes lots of people call your mobile number and don't use WhatsApp.

    • +3

my mate 10 pro has wifi calling which was enabled today with an optus update..

      • that's great news, As I hate it that optus only enable their wifi calling on Iphones and Samsung only. While other phones have to use Optus Wifi Talk which is rubbish.

    • Found my own answer to this. YES Optus enabled Wifi Calling on Google Pixel3 and Pixel 3XL.

As it's listed on the compatible device page now.

Shaping up to be a very hard sell over the pixel 2 XL. You're basically getting a less defective display, a more versatile front camera, wireless charging, the newer soc, and some software upgrades.

What other flagships are offering: in display fingerprint readers, vastly improved rear cameras, system wide npus (Google's currently only works on images?), much more ram, more durable.

Price creep unfortunately seems to be an industry wide trend! (outside of xiaomi and some others)

    • What would be some other phone brands that offer value for money? I keep hearing the Oneplus 6 model but that is not available here in Australia. Nokia, LG, Oppo or Huawei?

    • You can manually install the new camera app on the Pixel 2 and get all the new features anyway.

      • Not being facetious, as I have a pixel 2 myself so would love it if I could! Have you seen somewhere how to get the app on the older phones? Everything I've read says the features are exclusive to the p3 =(

    • Which phones have in-display fingerprint? Because I've stopped using the fingerprint since switching from OnePlus to Samsung and it's annoying as hell.

  • Still no headphone jack. No deal.

    • That's so analog of you

    • Seriously? There's an adaptor, USB C headphones or you can use Bluetooth headphones.

I haven't actually missed the headphone jack.

  • +4

I'm just glad Optus finally are selling the pixel

  • -6

Looks like an iPhone, guess Apple copied them ;)

  • A shame Google/Optus aren't offering any special pre-order inclusions (such as the Pixel Stand).

    • I think Google are offering the Pixel Stand (only in America?) as a pre-order bonus if you buy from their website.

      • Yep the shame is that we pay so much yet miss out on features and bonus inclusion in Australia.
