Is the 3g really worth it, I'm happy with the non 3g version as wifi is everywhere and you possibly can't read 4gb of books before you are on another access point or tethering

      Are you asking or telling?

Honestly it's neat if you're traveling as the data browsing is free wherever you are but the 3g is so slow compared to WiFi and 4g.

      • Not a huge issue as you're restricted to browsing for new books on Amazon and articles on wikipedia.

Used it once when the power went out and I'd read everything on the kindle, honestly no other time.

Amazed that e-ink display screens havent dropped in price or seem to have improved that much over the last 5+ yrs compared to leds

    • +1

I suspect the golden age for e-readers has passed - many people use their phones or tablets now. If volume isn't growing, prices aren't going to drop too much.

  • Officeworks will price guarantee against Amazon? anyone know?

There is an announcement coming on Wednesday from China for a possible new Kindle:

Doesn't actually have any information yet, but does imply a reading device in the text.

  • Showing $249 again.. am I missing something or deal expired?

    • Yep I had marked at 16th to expire but now I know that must mean end of that date.

  • …and here's the Kindle Paperwhite 4 freshly announced!

Yeah seems a let down imo. Same screen by looks of it to current not sure anything else really matters in terms of convincing to upgrade.

The display is definitely not the same.

        • Same resolution/dpi?

          • +1

@deelaroo: Yes, but it's now flush with the surface of the reader and the frontlight system has been changed around as well. It's definitely not the same display.
