LG Neochef Microwave 42L $176 C&C (or + Delivery) @ The Good Guys eBay

1020
P20TGGS

Even better than previous Good Guys deal posted here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/407955

I was disappointed that the Good Guys put their price up which made the above deal invalid. Just checked their eBay site and it's an even better deal now. eBay price $220 less P20TGGS promo code = $176 C&C.

  • This microwave any good? I need to upgrade my 15 year old one.

  • +4

Such a good deal. I bought one about 6 months ago at $240, spewing they’re so cheap now.
It’s a great microwave. One of the most powerful you can get. Takes a while to get used to the new technology compared to the older ones

  • +1

Damn, got one the other day from TGG before the price dropped. Great deal.

  • +2

Just came in to post this one. Pricing seems a bit all over the place. Was $240 when the P20TGGS started, then went up to $299, now down to $220. Purchased.

    • +1

Me too beaten by 30min. Purchased as well.

  • My samsung microwave is almost dead but my space is 550, probably too tight with 10mm or less clearance for both sides :(

    • +1

Time for some DIY renovation me thinks :)

      • Nah too much effort with concrete wall/cabinets, there is a samsung one 40L for the same price but quite significant difference width at 375mm.

  • My current aldi microwave with 3 years warranty is going good but this is so good deal. Wanted to buy it but just only 2 years of warranty is putting me off! Any sweet words?

    • +5

      Any sweet words?

      Australian
      Consumer
      Law

      • Pls elaborate

        • Basically products should last for what's deemed a reasonable and expected amount of time for what the product costs i.e a $5K product under ACL would be covered longer than the standard 1yr warranty or even a 3yr warranty in some cases.

Not sure how much luck you'd have with a $200 microwave after 2yrs though.

  • Can someone please help. i can't put any code in. What am i doing wrong? Thanks in advance

    • add to cart
      go to checkout
      add code

      • it wont let me put the code in. its greyed out. It says discount/redemption codes cant be used with the payment option you selected. Ive tried selecting the only two methods available, credit card and paypal. Any suggestions?

        • mine worked with PP

put the code in before selecting payment method

  • +1

That thing looks smart with the full front door.

    • 4 grape sized balls of Blu Tac on the bottom of each corner fixes that.

    • +1

      1 kilo of lead?

    • 2 kilos of eneloops?

    • They loosen up after a day or two. Mine was like that initially.

One comment that was buried in the productreview site that I haven't seen anyone mention here - the dial only moves in 10s increments. You learn to live with it, but initially, there were a few things that we were used to microwaving for 15s and you just can't with this one…
      Otherwise, it's a great unit.

      [EDIT - sorry, someone did!]

      • This is more powerful so 10sec = 15sec.
        It's like timetravel

  • +1

Was pissed when I finally decided to buy one from the last deal, only to find it had gone up in price. Stoked it's back again even cheaper now … got one, but need to wait until Thursday night to pick it up :(

… and even more stoked that I was able to pay with discounted eBay gift cards too ;)

  • Too big for me, need circa 32L.

    • +1

It is quite compact actually for a 42L. It is a 2.4GHz wi-fi killer, but that's less problematic now everything is moving to 5GHz.

      • Depth kills it for me, only 2cm wider than current microwave.

      • How can I test whether this will be a problem? Can I buy one contingent on it not wiping out the wifi?

Presumably it can’t totally shut down wifi over an extended area, or there would be lots of irate apartment dwellers whose neighbours have one.

        • It's a pretty narrow interference range. Just don't put an Amazon Echo on top of the microwave.

        • +1

          I’ve just tested this.
Same microwave, wifi in the kitchen in my place.
Going to the room that backs on to the microwave the following results.

          Microwave off - 5ms ping, 43.4mbps down, 17mbps up
          Microwave on - 7ms ping, 3.01mbps down, 5.21mbps up

Doesn’t shut the wifi off, but heavily congests the band. No issue on 5g, only on 2.4g

  • Do I need a new microwave? 🤔

    • +6

From going through your place when you weren't around, I would say yes.

      • And if he didn't before you went around, he did after you took his with you?

      • +1

        Do… do… do I need a new microwave?

  • +1

Getting error on checkout…Order service temporarily unavailable or invalid parameters in the request URL.

    • Yes and now it appears 4 times on my ebay summary page as an unpaid item yet when I click on the order details it says "Order service temporarily unavailable or invalid parameters in the request URL."

      • Ebay support say its a known issue at the seller's end. Try again in 12 hours.

        • +1

Will be fine once the coupon expires.

      • @stinkychicken
I have chatted with ebay customer services, it appears that the store for click and collect does not have stock that's why the error comes up.
Just try to click and collect another Good Guys store and it should work.

      • Yeah same with me, really annoying.

  • Regarding the dial, it goes up in 10 sec increments, then 30 sec increments after 1 minute.

Anyone have any issues with this? Does the push button one version go up in the same increments?

    • Yes, it's a tad annoying, but you learn to adjust.

  • +1

I recently purchased the white body version with slider that JB sells and it’s great, mine is mainly used for reheating and cooking mi goreng.
Our old Samsung rusted out from all the steam, these ones have an exhaust which draw the moisture out of the body, they also cook very fast and very evenly, way better than the Electrolux I had prior too. Hopefully it last longer than the last 3 we’ve had

    1. Can it be started with one button press? As in you just hit start, no need to enter power or time first
    2. Does it have that stupid cooldown mode where it won't run until it's decided that it has extracted enough heat?
    • Someone here really doesnt like numbered points

      • Lol. Almost as much as I hate microwaves without #1 and with #2

    • +1

Yes - 30s if you just hit start. It does cooldown, but not sure if you can use it again in that period - have never tried

      • Thanks

The cooldown cycle usually means you can't. Deal breaker for me.

  • +1

The shipping on eBay is $38, but from TGG website is $10. Is this an eBay error?

For some cheaper items, the 20% off is not worth it for extra $28 on shipping.

  • +1

Thanks OP, after much deliberation with wife I decided to pull the trigger and bought it. For those who didn't know, this Microwave is Choice recommended 2 years in a row if that helps!

    • No worries :) Happy to find a few more $$$ for us :)

  • +1

My microwave works but just fine but that black just looks so alluring.

  • MS4266OSS is $24 more pre coupon price and in my case matches existing stainless steel appliances
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-LG-MS4266OSS-NeoChef-42L-120…

comes down to $193.60 + delivery after discounts

You're an absolute legend OP, was just in the market for a microwave and pulled the trigger on this, thanks!

  • +1

Thank you muchly….our current Breville is an absolute PoS and this looks like a fantastic replacement, especially that colour. Thankfully the one store closest to us has stock for C&C!

  • Don't need a new microwave, but this model just looks so sleek and badass!

  • +1

Payment error every time when I try to pay

    • ditto

    • Yeah me too

  • Does this one brown food?

I would have liked an inverter for the 'even' defrosting. But I couldn't justify the ridiculous expense. So I bought this convection from Kogan a couple of weeks ago instead when they had free shipping: https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-32l-stainless-steel-conve…

It's smaller at 32L, doesn't do the 'even' defrost thing like inverter types do as I said, so you have to watch defrosting meat doesn't cook it. But the added benefit of convection is very much worth it. (No more getting down on your hands and knees to clean a mains oven either.)

DOZENS of times my wife and I have tried to get pork crackle to work. Having never cooked roast pork 100% myself in my life, I looked up online what temperature to cook pork, went and bought a $6 meat thermometer from Woolworths, and the crackling was great first try and nearly perfect the second try a few days later after a couple of time/temp adjustments. We had also tried to get it to work many times in an expensive Sharp convection microwave. It never worked in that either.

  • Needed a new microwave for the renovated kitchen. Decided this was a good deal to pull the plug on

  • +2

Brings back memories. I tried to buy this very model at the last GG sale. I got my text saying the item was ready for collection. Except it wasn't. An hour of hanging around at the delivery bay to be eventually told that it just wasn't there. Err… could they deliver it then when they find it? No, that would cost us money (to the guy whose time is apparently worth nothing). It got better. The ebay listing showed as 'collected'. About 6 messages to the Good Guys went unanswered. It was only when ebay got involved that they refunded my money. What a bunch of clowns. I really liked the look of the microwave, though. Nice clean interfact. Stable turntable.

  • So tempted!

    But held back.

    Breathe in, breathe out.

Just picked mine up from the local Good Guys. Microwave Meals come at me!

      Found the diabetic!

  • Damn paid $160 for the 25 litre

  • Hey, those of you that have one of these, the microwave ships with the dial retracted back into the door - you push it and it extends out - is it meant to go back in with another push? Mine seems permanently out now.

    • Yep.

      • So you push it again and it stays retracted?
