Cheap flights to the Maldives can be found regularly but cheap hotels? Nope. However in this case, something has happened in Accor's system that is allowing you to book any type of room (even their best villas) for the same price with their stay 3, pay 2 promotion

For example, the Sanctuary In Ocean Pool Villa is normally $8024.53 with taxes for 3 nights. However with this promo, you can get the same 3 nights in that room for $1,264.95 ($421.65/nt) + $344.07 in taxes.

This 2 bedroom, 2 storey villa features a living room, terrace, poolside Sala with a large sunbed, and an outdoor infinity pool constructed over crystal-clear ocean waters.

You can check out the room on their site. It's fairly over the top. You'll have to get there with a seaplane as it's on an island by itself.

Stay 3, Pay 2 Offer runs until Nov 13.

P.S. Select AUD as currency as it defaults to EU. Also 10% cashback with Topcashback!

Nice but with the cost of the seaplane transfers 3 nights isn't worth it,

wonder if we can book multiple bookings?

  • +5

Looks amazing (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVCEMYmGf_s). FYI the seaplane a couple of years ago was US$460 return per person.

  • +4

something has happened in Accor's system that is allowing you to book any type of room

Hope they don't dishonour the deal then. Those seaplane flights are expensive and probably no refund if cancelled.

  • +4

Nice deal, but the cynic in me can't help but feel the property will cancel these reservations as mistake rates. They're entitled to do that. So, if anyone takes advantage of this deal I don't recommend booking non-refundable flights/transport for a while until the booking is truly settled at that price.

    • +1

How do we know if the booking is truly settled at that price?

      • +4

I'd give it 2-3 weeks and communicate with the property directly to have them assure that the price you've paid is honoured.

    • +1

lol so maybe don't book your private seaplane transfer too early. Otherwise you'll land in the middle nowhere in the ocean near a resort you can't stay in. Maybe bring an inflatable boat as carry on luggage so you don't drown.

    • Well, they may be struggling to get visitors due to the political issues on Malé (https://smartraveller.gov.au/Countries/asia/south/Pages/mald…). Also the deal goes until Feb if you can find available rooms, but it may encourage people to book sometime in the next couple of months when the weather can be a bit iffy - not sure I'd want to be in one of those huts over the ocean during a monsoon. ;-)

Finally, also keep in mind that breakfast is included but all other meals and drinks are extra - and it's not like you can wander over to the local Maccas. So I suspect they won't do too badly out of the deal.

      • +1

Very unlikely. No other resorts are offering their most expensive and exclusive Villa at the same price as the basic villa on a 3 for 2 deal. Peak season is Jan/Feb too, so these are clearly mistake rates.

Furthermore, the Maldivian political situation has no bearing on the pricing or demand for the Island resorts. World economies and markets more accurately impact demand from lowered discretionary spend - look at how the GFC affected pricing in Maldives as a better representation.

      • Now until march is good weather not monsoon so no worries

      • +5

That's why you pack instant noodles instead of clothes.

      • Recently worked a month in Male, political issues won't impact the resorts. Also Male is very safe in general, but not ideal for a holiday.

Main political decision that may affect resorts will be when guesthouses are permitted to serve alcohol to tourists. Only a matter of time in many locals opinions.

Will be some very cheap and relatively secluded getaways to rival the big resorts.

        • You also have to be married to share a room

          • @trilby: Half true, is a locals only rule.

Similar to locals not being served alcohol in Hulhule. They will very happily take foreigners money for a bucket though!

I will try we are going middle of feb booked the Sanctuary in Ocean Pool Villa for 6 nights two seperate bookings will let you know how it goes!

    • Any update? I booked it as well, got the booking confirmation but they still havent taken any money out of my account.

  • +2

Just booked 2 bookings in Feb for 3 nights. Been looking for deals for a long time for our dates so hopefully this is honoured. Crazy price.

  • Amazing place but 3 nights is not worth it, you need at least 5 to get the most out of Maldives and usually you wish you could stay longer

  • Thanks op.
But did not see any of the dates with this rate? Do I have to enter any code?

  • +1

Have been twice, wouldn’t be going for 3 or 6 days.

    • How long would you recommend?

      • +3

Both times i went for 2 weeks. Takes 1 1/2 or more days to get there for me, 3 flights and boat to resort first time, last time went to Southern Atolls was 4 flights then 11 nights on a boat.

        • Hot tips, thanks so much!

    • You've been twice to this exact hotel?

  • what is the travel period?

    • +3

      $6400 off? That's a bargain

    • An 80% saving seems pretty appropriate for these here parts.

    • +14

There's a difference between ozbargain and ozcheap.

  • +3

I normally go to Thailand and get a room for around $15.00 a night. Would this be much better?

    • -3

Hell yes! Better food, better service, better location, better Instagram pic, etc

      • +4

Better food than Thailand is a big call!

        • Less chance of getting gastro

        • +1

I havn't been to Thailand but food in Maldives is average, nothing grown or fresh everything shipped in cans, except fish, and WAY too much CURRY for my liking, prefer Indonesian myself.

          • @[Deactivated]: You've been doing it wrong… I had some of the best Wagyu ever in the Maldives, and there was no curry…

        • Hey WathNerd,

What accommodation were you getting for $15?

          • +2

@movieman: It's been a while since I've been, but I try to go in low season & never book anything. So then I just walk up to places and ask. The cheapest places usually aren't online.

Obviously they aren't beachfront resorts, I was just joking above.

            • +1

              @WatchNerd: Thanks.

Great suggestion regarding walking in in low season.. been to the Philippines (not as cheap for accommodation as we had hoped, is Cambodia prices).

Will keep that in mind for a Thai trip.

  • Non refundable. Checking flights, time off work. This deal is amazing.

  • Interesting… to those that have booked please keep us posted if they honor!!!

  • what's the best method of booking this to cater for any last minute cancellation from their end? have ANZ adventure card, AMEX explorer. Can I use paypal for sea plane booking cancellation cover?

  • Clearly a pricing error, suggest noting this in the title.

  • +4

if this deal sticks, this island will be renamed ozbargain island come Feb 2019 for 3 days :p if so, I'll see some of you there so bring along some eneloops for trading

    • It's not just Feb. Tried putting in some dates in Nov that I was interested in, some rooms types have the error and some don't.

      • FOR STAYS FROM 31ST OCTOBER 2018 TO 17TH FEBRUARY 2019

        • They're the dates for the legitimate stay 3 pay 2 offer. The pricing error which makes this post a bargain doesn't apply to all dates/room types.

    • +2

Nah, we already got an island: Deal Island.

  • Maldives or Bora Bora?

    • +1

I'd suggest doing Bora Bora by cruise ship. We did 11 nights across French Polynesia (2 in Bora Bora) for $1100 per person with Princess. Paid a local $50 for a circumnavigation tour around Bora Bora by boat (gets amongst stingrays etc). He refused (going rate was $200 that others paid), then winked, took my money and said get on.

  • Went Maldives a few years ago. The seaplane ride was pretty uncomfortable. Do get nice views though.

  • No cheap flights for December. Air Asia is generally the cheapest but still around $2400 for two and takes 28 hours to get to Male!

  • Quickest way from Sydney was with SriLankan airlines 10 hours to Columbo then 2 hours to Male.

    • -1

Except that SriLankan doesn’t fly to Sydney. They fly to Melbourne though.

      • They did when i went last.

        • -1

Not sure this deal includes a time machine.

  • How much will the food and drink be on top of this though?

  • FYI Maldives can be VERY pricey for food and especially alcohol if its not all inclusive. Also you could likely get speed boat transfers which is a lot cheaper.

Stayed at Club Med there for a week about 3 years ago and since it was all inclusive it made for a reasonably priced holiday.

  • The link is not working anymore :(

  • Was about to book. Seems like they caught on to the error.

    • LOL, they've blocked out booking all days now.

    • Good luck to those who made a booking!

      • dont worry they'll cancel theirs too and not refund because they're so corrupt :p

  • Bugger I am late to the party!!

  • They should rent these by the hour for the instagram influencers.

  • The question is will those who booked start to receive I'm sorry / cancellation notices?

    • yes with no refunds lol

  • +3

Update I rung hotel today and its all confirmed they mentioned the two seperate bookings and just combined them so looks all good!

    • Nice! Which room did you get?

      • Sanctuary in Ocean Pool Villa

    • +1

      Lucky man

    • Has the money been withdrawn from your account?

      • Yes it was withdrawn as soon as I made both bookings and sent me the link to pay for the seaplane which I’ve also done today so looks like it was all fine they never mentioned anything and neither did I

  • They are not honoring it, just received an email

"We are reaching out to you regarding the reservation you have made through the Accor Hotels website. We understand that your reservation is confirmed at a price of US$300 per villa per night on Breakfast basis subject to 23.2% Taxes and USD 6 Green Tax per person per night. However, due to a technical error, we regret to inform you that we are unable or in no position to honor the reservation and hence the reservation has been released. Sincere apologies for the inaccuracies displayed on the Accor Hotels website."

    • -1

That's a bummer but a relief for those who missed out I guess.

  • to be fair, they came back later trying to partially honor it. they changed my sanctuary in ocean pool villa which was overbooked to a smaller in ocean room that i was willing to accept.

    • did they get back to you promptly? They haven't responded my email since last week. Did they offer the smaller in ocean room with a different travelling date ? They offered me a different date with a different room type and I responded and never heard from them again …

      • they did respond to me, usually 3-4 working days. maybe you can send a chaser.
