  • pur…chased :)
    Thanks

Looks good, how much is the regular price? Might give it a go, although still worried if I do chin-ups on the door that I will break something.

    • even it you don't use it for chin ups its a good price
but it is very rare for a chin up bar to break a door

look at the very first image, looks weird how it is clamped on both sides of the door

    • +1

It wont break your door, but it might scrape off a bit of paint, or make a few dents, depending on what material the door frame is made of.

    • +2

They have been known to mess with skirting around the door, think about it, it was never designed to hold 80+ kgs in that way

    JAWSOME!!

    • Chin ups to work off the fat from all the maxibons everyones been eating lately.

      • Chin ups

lol a better way to get a chindominal

do chip up with yout chines instead of your hands

  • got one. free delivery is nice :)

  • Awesome, cheers!

  • Awesome price, got one 1 year ago for 50 and I thought that was cheap. Does this need you to drill holes on top of your door frame?

  • I have one of these and they are perfect. Great value (bought it for $30 with free delivery online 2 years ago), great chin up workout, doesn't affect door frame - no drilling holes. It keeps in place through your weight and friction.

    2ndary use - clothes hanger.

Bought 4 as gifts - can't get on Amazon for this price.

  • Was the same price in store a couple of weeks ago.
Nice bit of kit….can also be used for push ups.
has a weight limit of 110 kg

  • Great Deal, been looking for one of these for a while. Free shipping is a +VE !
    Good Find.

Guys, you don't need to purchase a chin up bar. Just go to the park and hit the monkey bars or any type of bars. For dips use a bench or find a fence or railing ledge for a different dip variation. I have one of those chin up bars and it's sitting at home gathering dust because I only hit the park now.

    • how do you kick the kids off the monkey bars?

      • +8

        With your legs?

        • +4

It is one continual motion. Chin up, gather momentum using abs, legs thrust out, kids instantly off monkey bars. With practice, it can be achieved all in one motion - like the yoga/indian push up style. Best thing is, it will give you an all in one workout.

        • +1

I can't use the monkey bars because I'm too tall. My head already portrudes past the rungs standing up.

        • @schiwnn - You can kneel on the ground and pull yourself up that way. Works well for tall people.

        • Yes I have thought of kneeling on the ground but I wouldn't know how to explain the carpet burns/sores on my knees to my wife.

  • Got one of these middle of last year for the same price, its everyday price then and its a great device :)

  • Can't see how this device adds any real value for sit ups (stick your feet under a couch) or dips (use a chair).

Does this thing sit physically on the actual door itself? Or does it somehow attach to the framing?

If it gets applied on the door itself, it looks a great way to ruin your door hinges / or rip hinges/screws from door/frame etc.

EDIT - ok it looks like it hooks in to the framing …

    here is an image…

    http://www.asseenontvguys.com/productimages/as_seen_on_tv_gu…

    • +1

Just sits on the doorframe, no physical attachments to the frame.

It's not on the door itself so won't ruin hinges. The frame however is another matter. At my parents place, their wooden frames bend a bit when I use it so quite possibly over time you could damage it. I've got metal door frames at home which are rock solid.

The padding does wear over time… on my one, the foam on the handle and where it touches the side of the door frame have split and its managed to scrape some paint off. But some cloth and an elastic band have fixed that problem.

      • a $10 toy that damages my door :/ doesnt sound like the best deal to me

  • So, this is what chin-ups do> "A chin-up program will not only build impressive width and thickness to your back, but will also pack solid inches on your arms by promoting growth on your biceps, brachialis, brachio-radialis and pronator teres."

Bargain! Tomorrow I'll wake up do some P90X Meet a really nice girl have some really nice sex…

It seems a good price, but really, chin ups are amongst the toughest exercise you can do. The average young male can do less than 3. The average person can't do 1.

So… i would think carefully about whether you're going to use it before you purchase.

And really, for $10, i don't think the build quality will be there.

    • Main concern is the weight it can hold up. After that it's all up to you to train and get your chin-up counts up.

You don't have to start from the bottom and pull yoruself up; you can start with assistance (lifting yourself via leg on chair/stool) or start at the top and slowly go down.

Perhaps the average young male/person can do lss than 3, but a HEALTHY male should be able to do more than that.

      • if the average male can do 3 and the average person can't do one, am I to take it that women are average people and men are above average or Übermensch? Or is it that women are really subaverage, and that while men can do 3, women can only do -3, meaning that the average person cannot even do 1.

    • +1

the average person can't do 1? Not sure where you are getting your stats from. But I suspect it is a very poor source of info.

      • -1

I'm a personal trainer. I train people for a living.

Do you know what average means? All people, from 0 years to 99 years? How many of them (on average) do you think can do a chin up?

Not even 1 my friends. Trust me, I've seen it for years.

And for the guy saying you can easily do 25 chin ups… well yeah, they are a lot easier than pull ups, but it's pretty rare to see that with good form.

But you know, vote me down or whatever, I'm just telling the truth. I only spend about 10 hours a day in a gym observing people train.

        • +1

whats the difference between a pull up and chin up?

        • +1

@geoffizi - Chinups have hands facing towards you or neutral (facing inwards from the pegs that stick out)—I-I—, while pullups are hands facing away from you. Pullups are harder.

      • Want to build a big back? Wide grip pull-up's are the only way!

    • those stats are def wrong or from america. maybe it should be pull ups, they are a lot harder.

    • After a couple of months practice you should be able to do 15 proper ones easily.

    • after an 8 week program, you can easily work to 25 reps

    • chin ups are far far easier than pull ups. i expect you are thinking of pullups

      • No, 25 pull ups is achievable in about 8 weeks. With dedication obviously

        • once you reached 28 pullups mark you can do them almost infinetily.
a trick is that you do them at your pace (~one pullup in 6 seconds) and yuor musceles will recover while you are at the lowest point.
i am not an instructor i probably cannot explain it well but it is what i did when i was 19 ;)
belive me or not but i got bored doing pullups.
if you think i am a lier just do not trust me but i am telling you once you are fit you can do whatever you want.

  • oh, and go watch some p90x vids yo.
    HAhahahaa.

I got one 2 weeks ago from big w at this price, felt like it was going to break my door frame so its only been used for 2 chin ups and the sit up function is shit, get a sit up bench from big w for 40 bucks instead, much better.

Cheapest way to break up your house ever! Bargain!

  • I got this recently….you get what you pay for. Btw bear in mind your door frame needs a 'lip'. If the frame is flush with the rest of the wall, there will be nothing for the thing to hang on.

  • No longer available. But a +1 for the deal.

    • Yep, just saw this too. Was about to buy one too!

    • Same here, I actually saw this this morning and started the purchase and needed to login. I was side tracked at work and forgot was doing it and now it is not available any more. Not happy:(((((

just grab from store…… my friend just reserved one for same price. Livingston W.A.

        • Thanks mate, will give them a call.

  • This is all very good if you have a door with a jutting out bit on top of it. Unfortunately these kinds of doors are also the cheaper flimsy kind.

I have a much more expensive one which is screwed into my door frame, piece of mind is worth it.

  • +1

I don't have a door, can I hang this from my car, dog or a cardboard box?

    • +1

Methinks you need to work on getting a house to live in first.

  • Front entrance of the house looks to be the sturdiest… so go ahead take that shirt off and show off your beer belly to your neighbors XD

  • mine just arrived with the screws, washers and locknut missing. The box had australia post repair tape over both ends. The ends had barely any other tape on it, which seems to me like they shipped it without even taping it up. I guess i'll go to the store and return the damn thing.

    • when did you order?

      • yesterday, when i first saw the email from big w

    • +1

You may not see it, but the screwing has been done.

Hopefully this isn't the case for the rest! Let us know how the returns go.

      • i went in before they closed and they just replaced it for me. Heaps in stock and its the same price as online. The only bargain is the free shipping, but in my case, not anymore. :(

  • +3

    Lol
    "Online only special.
    Currently unavailable online"

  • Got one the other week for this price.

Good unit, no drilling etc required and hasn't marked my door frame.

  • So are they out of stock?

    • +1

      online: yes

      • it's an online only special.

        • the special is the free shipping, the price in store is the same.

Seems like Big W has been oh Zeed. (OZ'ed)

  • looks like its not just online. I just picked one up at my local Big W (Karrinyup, WA) for the same price. They had plenty in stock too, 10+.

  • Called up asking about my order, told it was on backorder expected to arrive in a couple of days.

    Anyone else not received theirs?

    • Yeah i haven't received mine either. the status of mine has been on "Order Being Processed" since i've bought it…they must've really had limited stock…

  • lol, mine dropped off the door and bent out of shape a bit, used it a few times, now i dont think i cant trust it to stay attached when i use it.

    • I hope it doesn't drop off while you are pulling up!

  • Still waiting for mine. Says Being Processed.

    • Mine too. Over 2 weeks processing is a bit on the ridiculous side, so I rang them up this morning. The helpful lady on line told me that their warehouse was receiving a shipment of these in about 2 weeks time so we can expect them to be dispatched around then.

She also offered me a refund of the product, but I opted to wait the 2 weeks.
