      Much more humane,if you do it right.

      There is a reason that hardware stores like Bunnings don't sell these drowning traps. Humane kill-traps for pests are legal in Australia, but inhumane ones are not. The RSPCA finds that drowning traps are inhumane but I am not aware that is established in case law. So they may be quasi-legal, but I'm going to agree with @dm01 on this one.

            @OzBurger: What has caring about people got to do with killing an animal humanely? I kill plenty of mice each year, but it's done as quickly as possible - no need to drown the things and make them suffer.
