What is Quick Charge 3.0 and VoltIQ?

Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 technology is 4x faster than conventional charging and up to 40% quicker than Quick Charge 2.0. It typically charges a compatible device from 0% to 80% in 35 minutes. It achieves this by increasing the voltage from 3.6V to 20V with 200mV increments. This technology is backwards compatible with Quick Charge 2.0 and Samsung AFC which is capable of charging a 3500mAh battery from 0% to 60% in 30 minutes.

VoltIQ is for devices not using QC technology and charges up to 5V/2.4A in each port.

      • Awks updated.

    • hi,
it has been nearly a month since I bought it but it still has not arrived.
      Anyone got one yet ?

      • Up to 30 business days with free shipping. November Singles Day sometimes has an impact.

  • +1

    Seems like a deal.

How are these in terms of safety quality? Is there a teardown?

    • +3

I have one and it hasn't caught fire yet.

      • +1

Sounds like you’re expecting it though.

  • And the confusion starts again. Does this deliver 54w through a single port or is that wattage shared between the ports? If so what is the max wattage?

    • +2

It's shared. Quick Charge 3.0 can pull a maximum of 18W while the 4 VoltIQ ports can pull a maximum of 36W (5V/7.2A) together.

    • +1

the specs are in the link.

      wattage

the correct term for a power unit is watt(s).

      • When expressed as a unit, it is watt(s) or W.

When asking about a devices power requirements or capabilities, wattage is a usuable word.

        • Wattage is perhaps a useful word, but the correct technical term should be used when possible to avoid confusion.

          • @whooah1979: For units, yes, but wattage wasn't used for units, which is perfectly fine. 54 wattage is wrong of course, asking what the wattage isn't wrong.

            Voltage, volts, V
            Ampere, amps, A
            Wattage, watts, W

Would you correct someone for asking for the voltage instead of volts or V?

  • I'm glad I got the QC3.0 * 5 ports ones last time

    • +4

The Titan Plus. I'm hoping to have a repeat on that one again soon.

      • Titan is HUGE!

      • welp, looks like im waiting for the Titas Plus

  • +1

    Bought one, thanks.

  • +2

Will definitely buy the plus version, do your thing mate make it happen ;-) thanks

    • +2

Since I can't comment on that other deal you just asked a question on. This Tronsmart is better than the BW as it has 54W instead of 40W, meaning higher power output and thus more devices can be charged faster.

      Tronsmart
      18W QC 3.0, 36W (5V/7.2A) max. across other 4 ports

      BW
      18W QC 3.0, 22W (5V/4.4A) max. across other 4 ports.

  • Nice, been waiting for one of these multi-port chargers, thank you.

  • +1

When is Tronsmart going to start making wall chargers with native AU/CN pins? I'd love a dual QC3.0 charger like the W2TF.

    • I've been asking for a long time but I suspect that won't happen anytime soon.

  • +1

I've been looking at something that has 4 or 5 Qc3.0 ports and a USB-C PD for laptop charging as I think that should be able to be the only thing I shouls need on a side table for convenient charging in a living space.

I've come across a Kogan one that offers this, and some mBeat Gorilla ones, is anyone aware of a Tronsmart or BlitzWolf one along these lines?

Hi Op, Any option for an AU wall plug??

  • +1

If you need more non-QC ports on it or any other charger, get a $1 adapter like this one

    • Very slow to charge, even with 1 device connected (I bought a couple). Sufficient for overnight charging or for smaller devices like headphones, though.

    • Provides standard USB 5V at up to 3.1A(max).

This’s about 1A per USB port. Ok for 3Ah smartphones but a bit slow for tablets.

  • AC cable AU?

    • I was going to ask the same question….

From the pic, it looks like a UK plug.
It's a common figure 8 cable, but I have no idea where to source it from (I have a few spares lying around).

  • Does anyone have one of these and know if it will rapid charge a pixel 2 xl? Pixel doesn't use QC.

    • +1

No it won't. For that you need a USB-PD charger.

      • Damn. I'll keep waiting for a USB-PD deal. Thank you

      • Could you share the Tronsmart model or equivlent?

        • I'll see what I can do.

  • November sale is live with a $19.99 US Xiaomi Mi Band 3 (record low) so get in quick ;)

  • Still working as of 8 AM Sunday AEST. Thanks.

  • 5 port charger deal expired?

  • Finally received Tronsmart U5PTA 54W QC 3.0 5 Port Charger, plug in the kitchen to charge phone, came back i 5min and could feel some smell. Check the brand new charger and the burning smell is coming from the charger.
Hope it is because it is a brand new and will not be getting smell in the future.
But a bit scared now to keep using it and definitely not during the night.

When someone ordered one can you please check if getting the same burning smell issue?
