      FYI loose -> lose

        thanks.

FYI 'loose' can work as a verb to mean "set free or release", so in this context it's perfectly fine to say "…about to loose his fingers?" - his fingers are indeed about to be set free from his hand!

Following that, one or more parents should lose custody.

+1 love it, good work, keep it up, gave me a genuine lol

  • Are we ever going to see the Ultra at this price again??

    • +2

Am sure if you wait long enough :-)

  • +1

I purchased mine a few months ago for $55, and I figure that was a good price. This is an excellent price!

  • Just noticed the 3rd gen is only $8 more — probably worth sticking with that over this one

    • +1

Yep, although I couldn't find enough of an upgrade for what I need between the two so I went with the Gen 2 myself, $8 more isn't a lot but it is 20% of the cost of a Gen 2 in this case.

      • Fair point!

      • +1

The new one can now be included in speaker groups unlike the first 2 versions which was just limited to google speakers. I want to group my amp's Chromecast but as yet can't.

        • Yeah I ended up going with the 3rd gen — this one going out of stock was the push I needed ;P

    • Scratch that. They just told me the gizmodo article mentioning group playback added to Gen3 is incorrect

  • +2

Worth noting that the only advantage of 3rd is a few seconds of load times. One disadvantage is they took the magnet off so instead of the dongle sticking to the cable, it is now dangling freely which in time might damage the cable.

    • +1

Not the only advantage, it also does 1080p@60fps.
It's likely that it can handle newer video formats that the older models can't (especially the v1) but as of yet Google hasn't deprecated any older formats/allow only newer formats.

Dammit. Just bought a second last week. TGG price guarantee excludes their own prices. Booooo

  • I am still using Gen 1. Did anyone upgrade from Gen 1? Is it a lot faster or snappier? My gen 1 works without any issues so I am thinking why I might need this.

    • I am still using gen 1. Thinking of upgrading to this or gen 3. But I dont see a lot of improvements over gen 1.

      • +1

Yeah no point going Gen2, go Gen3 for the wifi upgrade.

  • Price jacked as we speak. Now it's $59, with code $47.20. Damn….

    • +1

You're looking at the gen3, this deal was for the gen2.

    • +1

That's the Gen 3, The Gen 2 has sold out, was only 1 sold when I posted this, now shows 49 sold and no more available.

      • Ok, sorry for confusion

  • Does anyone know if gen 2 can cast with no wifi-router/second device, i.e. only using the same casting device's hotspot?? I can't get a straight answer from Google searches. TIA

  • Purchased 3 for under $20 each with OW price-beat from a seller on eBay.

    • could you please provide the link to the ebay sale?

        • That's not a chromecast, it's some dodgy knock-off that only supports miracast.

          *Kindly Remind:
          - The product is not original Google, but it does not affect the use of the function.
          - It supports YouTube videos. But doesn't support Amazon video and Netflix.

          • @ssquid: No it doesn't look like one… Also also a dollar cheaper than the add I used for the price-match. Closest thing I could find.

        • wow, it says in the description that it's not a Google Chromecast. Amazing you could it matched

  • Looks to still be available on The Good Guys website with an ‘As Advertised’ price of $49. Would The Good Guys end the listing in advance because it was selling too well?
