First time I've seen this discounted (besides that Ryda eBay debacle), looks like it's starting to get stocked normally.

Careful with buying from them, they show item in stock but it is not.
My order from June got delivered two weeks ago, that is some four months later.
They were extremely rude and arrogant about it on the phone every time I asked for an update.
If you might ask why I persisted with the order and not canceled, because I had missed out on the deal from other retailers and Sony directly. The savings was worth the wait, but I could have had the item from other retailers with the same savings at the time.
No more George's for me. And similar sentiment on whirlpool about them.

    • What I've done in the past is price matched at a Sony Kiosk, might be a good option if you have one close to you.

    • agree with this comment - (as a first time customer) I had to be proactive to call up and understand what was going on, ended up cancelling up and refunding because was unsure of wait times.

    • I second this. Careful with buying at georges. Learnt my lesson

    • Same to me, bad experience with George's. They had great price, but it would be better to pricematch at other stores.

  • It is $2948 how did you get your price

    • Guess it was a price error, looks like they've fixed it. Edited post.

      • not sure when that happened, I checked the price 4 hours ago and was not this cheap!

  • I'd personally hold out if you're looking at the A73. Back when it was first announced, Sony were the only player in the FF mirrorless market. They've now been joined by Nikon, Canon and Panasonic. Even if you're deadset on getting the A73, the price can only go down once cameras from the other manufacturers start hitting the shelves.

    • The A7iii price is already in the cheaper range (in terms of price vs features) compared to Canon's & Nikon's recent mirrorless release. So its already a good value as it is and I doubt it will be affected much.

Not really, the EOS R and Z6 seem to be releasing at around the same price point as the A73.

        • Not sure about Z7, but EOS R cant compete with A73 in terms of value for money. Yes its same price but A73 packs more features in it. EOS R dont have IBIS and not even a dual SD slot.

    • It will take the other brands at least a few Verdi's to catch up with Sony. What you get with a7 iii is a lot of for the price. Since there has been a shortage since release.

      • I own both Canon and Sony systems and I agree that the Sony A73 is very good for the price. However, competition drives prices down and unless you need one today, it's probably not a bad idea to wait it out and see if any price cuts will come.

        • Yes, but the wait will be forever, by the time others catch up to Sony. Sony would have leaped ahead again.
No other full frame brand are serious about mirrorless. Nikon and Canon don't want to cannibalise their DSLR whilst also trying not to let Sony get away.

          • @nadan:

There's no such thing as cannibalisation. Consumers want mirrorless cameras. If you are Canon/Nikon, would you prefer people buy Sony mirrorless camreas or Canon/Nikon mirrorless cameras? It's in their best interests to make a good system.

            • @p1 ama: Sadly that's not how camera manufacturers think. Canon has long left features out of their DSLRs to protect their cinema line.
