$39 for an Organic Fruit and Vegie Box- Value $137

18

Hi Guys

Being a health freak, i found this offer to be really cheap and of great value. I just purchased a coupon today. There's only 13 hours left and i belive they have sold 740 coupons already. These prices work out to be cheaper than buying non-organic fruit and veg from the shops and except its organic produce + delivered.

Happy Bargain Hunting!

if you take out the essential oil, it looks like around $20 worth of fruit and veg based on the weights…

It's definitely NOT $137 value. Do you know how much $137 worth of fruit and veg would be?
$39 doesn't seem like that awesome a deal to me either. It's probably less than 5kg worth looking at the list so that would make it an average price of $8/kg. ($137 would make it nearly $30/kg).

yup what he said. i was hoping for this to be a good deal.

        Quoted value is definitely garbage.

          Thanks for your 2cents amateurs!!

      Agreed, advertised value is garbage.

Sydney only offer - should put this in the title

Which specific shops are these cheaper than? Harrods in London?

btw. I do like how on the site they don't want to put $39/kg for baby spinach so change the weight to 100g

Rutger, how about you jump on the woolowrths online shopping and price up that fruit and veg box and see how much it comes up to be. If you do it properly you will see that it will exceed $40!

Now this is organic fruit and veg and it aint cheap

I don't know if you guys realise, but with this box you could make enough gazpacho for EVERYONE!!! :)

    • If you really want organic, be healthy and save the planet.
Walk to the shops, buy some seeds, sow them and grow them. That way, the delivery guy wont have to pump all that CO2 into the air and you get some exercise :)

imo, this whole 'organic' thing is being exploited and used as a marketing technique.

Ive even seen 'organic tshirts' wtf?
Organic just means carbon based compounds…

      • Ive even seen 'organic tshirts' wtf?

        Probably made from organic cotton.

Organic just means carbon based compounds…

The word "organic" only means carbon-based in the context of chemistry, and has plenty of other meanings — the Oxford English Dictionary lists 8 distinct meanings of the word. The relevant definitions of "organic" in the OED are:

"8. b. Of a method of farming or gardening: using no chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or other artificial chemicals. Also designating a farmer or gardener utilizing such a method, or a farm on which the method is employed."

"8. c. Of food: produced without the use of artificial fertilizers, pesticides, or other artificial chemicals."

          yeah, organic cetified.

my father in law is a beef farmer.

he could easily get certification as organic as he doesn't use chemicals, hormones or steroids, etc.

he rightly pointed out that his farm is on river flats and any time the river floods it floods his farm with fertilizers or any other crap from surrounding farms.

interesting the theme of cross farm chemical contamination.

some things are better if organic because they pick up the chemicals more easily and then the chemicals are harder to get rid of (eg leafy stuff like lettuce). However, for other produce (eg bananas) it doesn't matter at all - from a medical/scientific outcomes perspective.

    • Sorry eauctions - I don't care too much about organics. And it doesn't change the fact its still a rip-off:(

The group they claim certifies and inspects them changed their name years ago before merging into BFA so either they haven't updated the website in a few years or they're not certified as they claim. Either way it's a negative.
