120

I know there are a lot of people who dislike Beats, but I think this is a good price for those who do like them. Not sure if other colours are available.

I'm interested to see if people are going to throw in some Chi-Fi suggestions, I'm really impressed by what's being done at the moment.

  • They probably will only have like 2 or 3 pieces of stock per store.

Still trying to flog a 1GB tablet. Oh Aldi you silly sausage.

  • +4

officeworks price beat? and where to get catalogue

    • +1

Wonder if it'll work on a different colour, since Aldi dont specifically state the colour available?

      • They won't match it cause its not like for like, but if you can get them to say over the phone they will match aldi, the manager should have to do it cause they don't actually price match aldi anymore.

Oh Lord. Where did aldi buy these from?!

Everything I've ever bought from Aldi excluding my ultrasonic cleaner has broken within 2 weeks!

Even the bloody chicken shears went blunt after 2 uses and they're scissors for goodness sake!!!

    These are probably DOA lol

I bought a pair of Bauhn Bluetooth headphones at Vinnies.

Amazingly they still had charge in them. Paired to my phone in two seconds. Still going strong six months later.

Best $15 I’ve spent in ages!

        Second hand headphones :-(

  • Or how about that $20 wireless headphone on the bottom

Compact mirror with power bank. Genius.

    • I just went to look at that and yes what a contender for product of the year … Perfect stocking stuffer.

    Only the purple colour available..
I have on good authority theres roughly 7-8 units per store.

Should assume that allocations will vary by store demographics as well.

People came in here expecting audiophile arguments, so I may as well have my say :)

Thing with Beats, is their original (full) name gave it away; Beats by Dre.
If you're into R&B, chillout, Soul, or even a lot of the new 'Pop' music (which is, lets face it mostly R&B influenced), then you'll love the sound of Beats.

They're deep and rich because their cone (more specifically the spider) is loose.
From low power it can create resonating deep bass that is probably some of the best low low low range bass I've ever heard from a headphone.

    Whats the catch?
With no cone control, you get 'mud' when you try to listen to anything fast, because the cone can't stop 'flapping around' during fast bass kicks.

    The TLDR;

R&B, modern Pop, slow Dubstep, and the like will sound good.
I like them for watching movies!

However, I speak from experience when I say:
Fast Metal (pick your flavour, I like 'power'), High Energy Electronica (pick your flavour, I like HappyHard), and anything that is fast enough to haveyou nodding\tapping to every 2nd beat, rather than every beat, will just be a blurry muddy mess.

    ….Not a bad price though.

Managed to get JB to pricematch. Was allowed to choose my colour.

    • Really? Even before the sale has started?

      • Yep - in my comment below I was lucky I think lol. One store didn't check the date of catalogue, but the other did.

  • Which jbhifi has price matched please tell me please

    • JB Price match at QLD - Brisbane (Mount Gravatt and Indooroopilly)

      • Went to JBHifi Mount Gravatt (Garden City)
      • Guy spoke to the manager and they were fine to pricematch, except they said come back on Weds 21 Nov when the sale starts

      • Decided to go to my local Indooroopilly to see if they can do on the spot - they did. Think I was lucky though since the female that served me was going to ask her manager to double check, but they weren't around so she said it should be fine. Dude at the counter double checked the catalogue and said its fine through so all went ok.

      • Thank you for your detailed information
It's all about luck I guess
Anyways do you have any feedback about this particular headphones
I'm confused whether to get this one or Bose sound link two

        • To be honest, ditto to what MasterScythe described above. I cant comment on the Bose sound link II.

In my opinion, if you value the 'bass' in music, Beats are my personal preference. I own a pair of Bose QC35IIs and I've worn them twice. I choose Beats between the two. Obviously the QC35IIs have other features (ie noise cancelling, Google assistant etc) but I'm judging here purely based off sound quality, in conjunction with my personal preference of bass.

          To be put simply:
Choose Beats - if you value and appreciate bass rather than overall sound quality/clarity etc
Choose Bose - if you value overall sound quality

Some may think I'm crazy for picking Beats over the Bose QC35IIs, but everyone's got different taste.

          • @seamer: Thank you again for your opinion
Does beats by dre Solo 3 battery life really last 40hours ?

  • Calling through to a few JB's in Sydney and no luck so far

    • No luck as in they wont price match or they wont answer? Officeworks maybe?

I'm debating on if I need it.

      • they won't match as its way under cost. they've got a black friday sale for $329 so I think its come from H/O not too match.

        • $199 and $329 is huge difference.

          • +1

@YellowKnight: Update - So I called officeworks in broadway and the guy over the phone said they would match aldi, when I came in store another guy said it had to be like for like which I said wasn't said over the phone. So they went to speak to their manager and came back and said they would do the price match($189.05) because they don't actually price match aldi anymore but cause the guy said it over the phone they would do it! It really is just luck!

I just went to Officeworks Chirnside Park VIC and they price matched no questions asked. I show them Aldi webpage on my mobile.

I got Rose Gold pair for $189

          • @ozybum: Did the same thing, they started talking like for like. They ultimately gave in!

          • +1

@ozybum: Can you post a picture of the receipt please? My local OW won’t price match unless there is proof other OW has

  • Nowhere on their website does it say they wont price match Aldi.

My sister got four pairs priced matched at JB HiFi Narellan (four different colours). Here is a copy of the receipt for the two pairs she got for me.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/s8z4280pupy4d5e/Beats%20Solo%203.p…

    • Thanks! I manage to show your receipt to Officeworks and the end up beating it by 5%. Got me 2 pairs at $189

    • I've tried a couple of jb with this receipt. no success. I was told they have received a message from the headoffice not to price match $199 since they are from a different supplier.

  • JB HiFi and Officeworks are not willing to price match this deal as on their website the price is still $329. According to them Managers who have sold for $199 or $189 made a big mistake.

  • Tried JB HiFi Fountain gate (VIC) in store, no luck.
Then called up OW to price beat, ending up getting it at $189 in black.
When I went into store to collect, heard murmurs from the store reps saying 'beats again' to fellow coworker.

For those having trouble price matching Aldi, Harvey Norman and Officeworks now have them for $197, range of colours available.
