JBhifi catalogue deal. Not on website but should be from Friday.
2nd generation Echo Dot is behind the 3nd gen but still very nice introduction to smart home without having to say "OK Google" everytime.
I prefer Amazon ecosystem with all the skills anyway

      Google Home Mini is much better in my opinion. I've used both, but seeing as I've already sold my soul to Google through using their services it is much more useful.

    I've got both and tested both of them in All scenarios. Google home is much better specially when you use it with Chromecast. speech recognition is much powerful in google home. The list of the compatible apps for integration also is much better in google home app.

  I got one free with the amazon audio book thing. its rubbish if you already have google music and a chrome cast
