  • Are there any other differences between the AU and Imported stock apart from dual sim and the 12 month Warranty?

    • Samsung Pay is locked and Telco specific firmware for VoLTE/VoWIFI. Otherwise it the same as AU for the rest of the specifications.

      • i think you are wrong here, according to the comment of store rep in the last post, Samsung Pay will be working

        • That if you change firmware. There has been reports that some Telco specific features don't work even when changing from one firmware to another.

          • @ChickenAdobo: Oops, I did not know this. Still waiting for my note 9 to be dispatched and delivered. I will check if Samsung pay works. If it's not then I am in trouble as Samsung pay on my Samsung watch will also not be working.

@randomrandom: 2 people in my family have grey import S8s which they got last year from eGlobal and Samsung Pay works on both phones. I'm not sure if there is any difference between the S8 and S9 Samsung Pay.

              • @Nexo: Really strange that it works

              • @Nexo: I will try later with a taiwan s9 default samsung pay app with default taiwan firmware.

                • @ChickenAdobo: My GS9 grey import doesn't accept Samsung Pay. Apparently due to US firmware. Asked about changing the firmware and Samsung advised it would void my warranty.
                  Google pay works fine.

@randomrandom: If your watch is Australian version then you can use Samsung pay on your watch. if your phone is non-AUit wont work on your phone. I know because i am in same boat. Within Galaxy wearable app, there is interface to setup samsung pay on the watch. it doesnt matter if phone supports or not. on phone you can still use google pay. hope this helps

              • @maximus117: Thanks for your feedback mate, I am now really happy in worst i can use it on my watch atleast.

          • +1

@ChickenAdobo: Even if you change the firmware, samsung pay wont work. From S9 lineup samsung has adapted multi zonal firmwares which means even if you load XSA (Australia) or TEL (telstra) etc firmware, the CSC will remain for originating country which means no samsung pay. The only way to change CSC is by rooting which means no samsung pay anyway… on saying that Google pay will work flawlessly.

            • +1

@maximus117: Thanks mate. I hoped your answer clear the confusion regarding this issue.

            • @maximus117: no, you can change CSC without root. use Odin and home_csc file in the firmware, there are two CSC files one wipe the device and one does not. The one which wipes the device actually changes the CSC

              • @randomrandom: Wow, didn't know that. Does it work on S7? I have a Korean version and AFAIK flashing new firmware will void KNOX and affects the security of the system.

                • +2

@xyzzyxyzzy: sorry, you are wrong here, flashing stock firmware using Odin does not trigger KNOX counter. If the firmware is signed by signature other than Samsung then KNOX counter will be changing from 0 to 1. Before flashing make sure you are getting stock firmware.

              • @randomrandom: I can guarantee this doesn't work. I have tried the method you mentioned. Home_csc will not wipe the device but the other csc wipes it and basically restores to factory. I have done this numerous times when i was setting up my phone but no luck. I have read on whirlpool forum that it can be done (not tested or reviewed in the forum) by using a special modified CSC and flashing using tempserv instead of ODIN using command prompt.
BTW you can change CSC on S8 and earlier models without any issues. Only S9 & S9+ are from the multi-zone family.

  • Any deals on the S8?

    • Interested too !! Tried using it on my mobile and ebay search is shocking

  • These guys are really slow in dispatching. I ordered mine on 22nd but still not tax invoice and dispatched item. It was mentioned that item will be shippied from Sydney.

    • The handling time is 5 working days, your order on 22nd should be dispatched no later 29/11 from sydney warehouse.

      • This means, if it's dispatched on 29th I should be getting it in Melbourne probably within a week?

        • I'm on the same boat with you. I and my hubby ordered the same date with you. Today is 29 Nov, didnt receive any email or reply that has been dispatched. It already past 5 working days, no later 29/11??? Where is it now?

          • @kiddish88: Finally….it has been despatched on today…..30/11, hopping it will arrive earlier in next week.

            • @kiddish88: same here got the email notification about dispatch. There is no tracking number though.

              • @randomrandom: I sent a message to them, they said will provide the tracking number shortly, if we didnt heard within 24 hours, just let them know, they will check it for us. I think i will wait till monday then send a message to them…

                • +1

@kiddish88: I got the same response from them but a few minutes ago I have sent them a message about tracking number, I will say they do not have any sense of doing business and customer handling. First, I was asked to contact them after 5 days and now after 24 hours. Customers need to chase business after buying product from them. I have experience with other sellers they dispatch the item next day and on 4th day it gets deliver in Melbourne. I did not know SS will deal me like this, i wish now phone works perfect otherwise i can imagine how warranty claim will go lol.

                  • @randomrandom: Finger cross everything will be OK for us…hope we don't need to do any warranty claim at all. Also i totally agreed and knew what you felt.. I need to consider should i deal with them again in the future….

                    • @kiddish88: very bad services..Finally i got their tracking number…it has been two days past they dispatched the items but Australia Post tracking system still shown Pending. no updates yet. Very Very disappointed why SS will deal like this… It is very slow slow process…. :(

                      • @kiddish88: same here, mine neither the tracking worked nor the phone got delivered. Even Chinese small level sellers are much better than this doggy seller who claims the dispatching from Sydney. For sure, they will be getting a full negative review on eBay and where possible I will warn peoples to stay away from this doggy and fraudulent business.

                        • @randomrandom: Poor me….my tracking told the phone has been delivered, but i didn't received it at all. and the tracking shown it delivered at suburb where near by us, not delivered to our suburb…really disappointed, i wait for 2 weeks now, and its got NOTHING. I really don't know how can i do now.

                          • @kiddish88: This is really disappointing i can understand your pain, open an ebay or paypal claim and get your money back.

My one got new status: Pre lodgement by Sender

Means every information these guys provided was a lie and now after two weeks these guys are now sending it from China which will be delivered in few days and i will be leaving Australia on 10th of this month.

                            • @randomrandom: I'm located at Sydney, We got Pre lodgement by sender on 4 Dec, the phone should delivery on 6 Dec, but the driver was stole it, i will try to claim from ebay and paypal and get my money back.

From now on for my life, i'm so scare to buy anything on internet, this is a nightmare and extremely bad experience, i think i won't to buy those such expensive suff on internet.

Before we purchased the seller told is Registered post, Shipped from Sydney. Therefore i chosen to purchased from them ( but all is bullshit is a lie). This is not a registered post, the post just need signature on delivery only and the driver fake our signature to steal the phone, that is i can not control and i also understand the seller can not control at all. But the seller can refund me first and then they go to claim back from Australia post. That is Australia Post fault. So Me and the seller shouldn't lose anything.

                              • @kiddish88: there is no need to worry, PayPal will be returning your amount. This happened to me as well when I bought a laptop. Next time I will also be choosing some other store who at least do not lie to the customers.

                                • @randomrandom: Finally……We found our parcel now…we made lodge complaint to the Australia Post, we made more than 10 Calls to Australia Post to seek who is the driver…and i was sent more than 10 messages to Shopping Square via ebay, they didn't reply at all. but finally…the driver leave our item in front of our door…Lucky us…..but next time…..really really need to consider where i should purchase from….and Make sure to post to PO BOX instead…

I hope yours will come by today, as you told you will leave on 10 Dec.

Overall, The phones are ok. it does have the plastic wrapping, but the Samsung seal was broken it may because the phones is from Singtel Stock (Singapore Network), they need to open the box to preinstall two apps there. Therefore have a white sticker on top of the Samsung sealed sticked showed checked. i believed the sticker is from Singtel.

Anyway, wish you all the best and happy holidays….and your phone will arrive on time as well. :)

  • I feel I have spent more money on S9. I bought it on weekend from CTD_AU (eBay) - $660 for refurb.

I should have waited….. Well good price for S9

    • $660 for an S9? That's an awesome deal.

      • It was refurbished…what are your experiences with buying refurbed phones?

  • Any deal on Note 9 ?

  • hmm how does this compare when buying phone outright at this price as against to TELSTRA FF offer for $69 ?
So cheaper in the long run to buy phone outright and then use BYO plan or hopon to phone plan.

Anyone done that calc ? that they can share please

    • If you have the details of the offer, why don't you calculate it?

  • +1

I rather buy local stock for peace of mind, get warranty directly from Samsung AU.

    • +2

I'd rather buy imported, or another brand to get dual Sims as Samsung Australia seems to only care about the Telcos rather than the people that actually use the phones, so they don't give us that option!

At best Samsung AU wont get another cent on any phone from me until they do, or at worst I'll switch brand altogether to a dual Sim that is available locally instead and Samsung globally won't get a cent either.

Will they care… No.. but if enough people boycott buying Samsung's from the big telcos and any Australia retailers then maybe they will start listening ;-)

  • Ifsomething happens with grey imports. Samsung won't touch the phone at all.

  • Does it come in the retail box with all genuine accessories?

    • Yes

  • Hi Rep, what region are the S9 and S9+ from?
    Thanks :)

    • The current stock is from Asia with full English manual and OS. Australian SAA Safety apprvoed charger is included.
