Oneplus 6t goes for 750 and it's the better phone, by far.Essential is… essentially a flop. Big time. It's not even worth 500$ imo

Totally disagree. I've had mine for about 6 months and it hasn't missed a beat. After several camera updates it now takes great photos. It receives all Android updates when Google phones get theirs so no waiting for months. All in all a great phone.
Example of phone with Android 9.0 with another year of OS updates for $500 please. Also the audio adapter sold out due to high demand so perhaps just something you don't like. These guys are really amazing when it comes to support and updates, sometimes their updates were faster than Pixels.

That doesn't even have nfc. Let alone comparable CPU. Also the screen is much worse,not even polarised and doesn't get as bright. I know there are budget phones, but this is a year old flagship
