FHD? Whats the point going from 24 to 27" if you just need to sit further away so you can't see the sub-pixels?

    • +3

      Yeah, $230 for a 1080p 27" isn't really a deal.

  • +5

    1080p meh

    • is it Ok if you were doing just text and documents and no gaming / video / graphics editing ?

      • +6

I would say the opposite. Okay for gaming for most people, but worse for office use. It's still a good price though.

        • Wow man, I seriously don't understand tech,
I'm at the checkout screen thinking to choose between this and the Astivita

@dealman: 2k Monitor = better for productivity as you can see more of the document (or page) you're working on.

I've been using 1080p since forever (2007) but very recently got a 35" 1440p ultra widescreen.

Once you go 1440p, you won't go back to 1080.

            • @scrimshaw: ok,, Really ? Just confirming this is true, and not some sarcasm / joke that I'm not getting !

              • +1

@dealman: Yes it is true. You can fit more documents and stuff onto the screen if it's higher resolution.

                • @MrGareth: OK thanks,

                  • @dealman: My experience is a bit mixed. 2K definitely helps productivity and I always try to get a 27 inch 2K screen at work (we use hot desk system). However, both my colleague and I bought 27 inch 2K screens and we both find: at home, for some reason, the texts look smaller (compared to at work). He was thinking about getting 25 inch 2K, I talked him out of it. He is using OS scaling at home (I am not, but I might).

What you need to bear in mind is that LCD screens run best on their native resolution. A 27 inch 2K screen, when running at 1080p won't be as sharp as a 27 inch running native 1080p. So, run 1440p and use OS scaling (if you find the texts too small).

              • @dealman: Definitely true. I have a 40" 4K monitor that is brilliant for working at home. Luckily I also have a large desk to fit it on. It works almost as well as having two screens

            • @scrimshaw: This man speaks truth. Source: also have a 1440p screen and work with photoshop and video editing daily

      • I use one 1440p 27" for work at home and it's nice to be able to comfortable have 2 full size windows side by side.

  • The Astivita Monitor - 31.5" inch 2k Resolution 2560 x 1440 is better value.

To my preference, will go 1080p for 24" or 29" ultrawide, 1440P for 27" or 34" ultrawide and 4k for 31". 1080p on 27" is quite meh :( But gotta thumbs up for Dell monitor quality.

  • I am waiting for a 4K 27-32" VA panel… Kogan is the cheapest but I'm reluctant to buy something without reading a review and they only offer a credit if it turns out to be a pile of sh!t.

  • I just bought an HP S240UJ today from CPL Online for $249. It's a 24" 2K monitor with IPS display, B&O speakers, wireless charging, and USB-C connectivity (charges at 60W through the connection as well). It's looking great so far and seems like a better value.
