Get at least a v7 or you will regret every time you empty the bin…

    • Why? V7 has a better bin?

      • +1

v7 has new bin opener like v8

  • I just a got a v7 for $297 I’m the sales. It’s fantastic. Quieter than v6 and the way the bin is emptied is brilliant

  • I have a V6.

The ‘engineers’ at Dyson are utter morons. The inlet to the bin constantly clogs and it’s a bitch to empty.

I wouldn’t get another v6 again even if it was half this price

    • Clearly not morons since they fixed the issue from V7 onwards with a clever design.

Iterative design and improvement is how things happen to work in engineering land - otherwise products would never ever get to market to be able to learn lessons from real-world use and customer feedback.

  • Agreed with the negatives here - bin emptying is a nightmare. After years of use, I still cannot do it easily.

And it's loud. Have to wear mine with ear plugs.

  • Regarding the bin problem, yes it's aanoying.

I find emptying often prevents it clogging, and you can also remove the bin cover to make it easier.

    • I've had the DC44 Animal which is one of the predecessors of this (there was a DC59 in between, I think?) and it also has this emptying system. It's annoying but I wouldn't say it was difficult or impossible - especially after I discovered you can remove the canister completely.

I bought it as a refurb (grey import from Amazon many moons ago when the AUD was high and none of this GST malarky existed) so it didn't come with instructions LOL.

So I can live with the v6. Speaking of which I just grabbed one for $324 from Amazon (International version) with 10% cashback taking it just under $300. Would've posted it as a deal except there was only 3 available when I discovered it. That's the new benchmark low for anyone interested.
