Just curious :) I'm personally for who ever has the best deals

    Both

    • +1

      yes definately both

  • +17

which ever is offering the highest cashback, what is the use of a poll??

  • +2

Whichever is higher, but if both are offering the same rates, I’d go with cash rewards. But I think shop back offers higher rate most of the time

    • I’d go with cash rewards.

What's the reason? I heard SB tracks better?

  • -4

Similar, I use Pricepal these days due to the lower minimum.

    both, really

Cashrewards was here first but competition is good

  • I've have an account with both, but find ShopBack more convenient because they are able to track my Amazon purchases through the phone app. Cash Rewards didn't the last time I checked using phone app. Using Android phone if there's a difference.

  • +4

Shopback tend to have higher rates for the places I shop, but I'm finding that a number of transactions haven't tracked during the bonus cashbacks or for large purchases, even though I've been meticulous about following the process (and at stores I've used before so I knew my cashbacks should have worked).

So if the cashback rates are the same/similar, I'll go Cash Rewards, and if the Shopback investigations into the missing transactions don't result in cashbacks, I'll stop using Shopback altogether as a lower cashback from Cashrewards is better than no cashback from Shopback.

    • +2

My experience exactly! I'm an old hand at cashback and none of my Cyber Weekend purchases tracked with Shopback :( Claims lodged but will probably stick with CashRewards as more reliable. I'm getting confirmation emails from CR really quickly these days.

    • Update if anyone ends up searching and finding this thread: the ShopBack investigation initially resulted in a rejection. I questioned this and the first email response maintained the rejection. I dug my heels in and it was approved. Then when it was due for payment, it was rejected again. I questioned it again and it was confirmed and I finally got the payout.

So down the track I'll be weighing if it's worth the chasing for big cashbacks down the track as this has been a bit of a pain…

  • CR for sure, morally. this not even close. SB only good here for competitions

  • I'll go with the higher rate always.

But if both rates are the same I'll go Cashrewards.

  • Both.
Shopback has really made a name for itself but Cashrewards has had a massive headstart.

Shopback gave me cashback even though I stuffed up on one of the amaysim deals (ordered 2 cards under the same account not different) - emailed them and they still gave me full amount.
Cashrewards is TA and well you can't go wrong there :)

  • Merged from Which is "better"? Shopback or Cashrewards

Currently I use CR, I heard that SB isnt as great when it comes to speed of transactions. This was awhile ago, so i'm not sure if they have imporved or not.

    Should I move to SB?

    Or can we use both?

    • +1

      Shopback

      • +1

1+ for Shopback, they either have the same cashback or higher than Cashrewards.
Well based on the stuff that I buy.

    • -1

I find Cashrewards to have great service, especially TA here on ozbargain.
I've never had any major issues with shopback but I've seen lots of negs from ozbargainers who have.

I prefer CR but will generally go for the one with higher cashback rate.

    • +3

like the Mexicans say, why not use both? use both as in whichever gives the highest cashback, not use no that the same time heheh
do I like coles or woolworths? I like lowest prices…..

    • Shopback is so hard to navigate especially when it comes to get your moneyback, have to go through so many pain in the arse steps just to get to the claim page.

Also CR's chrome plugin is pretty handy, not sure SB has equivalent.

    • +2

In terms of tracking/processing time they're all using the same affiliate networks to get their commission which they then give a portion to you. Unfortunately affiliate networks aren't perfect with their methods with some being worse at tracking (like Groupon) than others.

Really comes down to the best rate for most people around here, so no harm in choosing both.

      • no op wants u to pick one or the other
        no fence sitters or Mexicans

        • But OP asked if they can be a fence sitter!

    • +1

      My experience:

Used CashRewards for multiple experiences, all have been good.
Used ShopBack once, and it needed to be escalated by gotyourback, but positive in the end.

Both @tightarse and @gotyourback are very active here, and able to help with any queries. Tightarse has been around for ever, and was an active member posting deals before going to CashRewards.

CashRewards seem to be quicker to post their 'increased rate sales'.
ShopBack then seems to counter and 1-up, so usually have better special rates.

They both can take 3 months before you get the referral money.

So, my recommendation would be CR due to better OzBargain member experience (previous input to deals), and better website UX.
However, It will also depend on who posts the first deal or is more active on a specific sale item. I'm easily influenced ;)

      End result: Use both.

  • Bottom line is the major player on both Amazon and Shopback during non promo periods always 1% higher cashback .

What surprises me Cashrewards doesn't care and never competes on the standard rate .

  • Would be great if there was a tool that compared the rates live between both platforms

  • +1

I just emailed Shopback about a wrong amount of cashback and I got this email (emailed back to be at 14:16):

Sorry that we missed your email as it passed our working hours now.

Well, not to worry we would be back at 1000hrs and would handle your query at earliest available time.

Here are our working hours :

    Monday - Friday: 1000hrs - 1900hrs (AEST)

WTF? Shopback is sounding incompetent with that email ^^^

  • Just wanted to drop in and send a big thanks and lots of appreciation to TA and Cashrewards for exceptional customer service received.

Had an issue come up with one of my transactions which I honestly expected was going to be a hassle to deal with and drag on for ages. Instead, it was swiftly addressed with a positive outcome; I cannot recommend them enough, a truly customer-satisfaction oriented experience.

  • -1

Cashrewards and TA. No doubt about it. Surely a legend around here with all the contributions he’s made and helping out the community.

  • Coles

    Cashrewards

    Woolworths

    Cashrewards

    ShopBack Australia

    2.50% Cashback

(but always changing and there used to be PricePal also and another one I keep forgetting)

    • What's the other one?

      • Can't remember atm.

It was probably price pal or topcashback or something.

But can't remember atm there was so many before.

        • Yeah I did bit of digging it looks like CR and SB are the main ones now.

          • @capslock janitor: There was buckscoop

          • @capslock janitor: Yeah no competition there.

CashRewards, ShopBack and I think Honey is sometimes ok but honestly never used it besides the coupons and discount codes/vouchers.

Anyone has come across with Cashrewards are NO longer registering iHerb purchases? When questioning with Cashreward, their hopeless customer support (Feraida) just replying with no click registered, even though I am using CR Chrome notifier and making sure it is showing Cashrewards Has access to this site before I proceed with the iHerb purchase.

Going to gave up on Cashrewards all together and wondering if Shopback is more reliable or not?

  • Always CR, they couldn't have a better rep on here.

  • So far not happy with Shopback. I followed their instructions and did a transaction and they failed to recognise it and ended up with no cashback. My whole decision to buy was based on their cashback. So they can be unreliable. I'm going to try Cash Rewards and see.

  • Merged from Cashrewards Vs ShopBack. What’s Your Experience?

    What’s everyone’s experiences to date?.

Personally I have absolutely no luck with Cashrewards no matter what I do with claims continually being declined. This is really disappointing as they are misleading people and affecting their decision making only to later reject claims that have been automatically tracked.

Shop back seems to be a better product with most disputes being resolved and a lot less of them.

    • +2

Is there a sense of bias to your post?

You rarely vote (1 post pos vote)/post(2 other posts)/comment (5 in total), yet this is the 2nd time this year you've ragged on CR (and from only 3 comments made this year, 2 have been in the same post baggin out CR)

      Leaguepass101 on 17/05/2019 - 12:57

Cashrewards rarely works. Influence consumers decision making who factor in cashbacks and then they don’t pay. Extremely disappointing

      • -8

        Irrelevant.

      • and?

      • +1

        Private detective material right here

    • +7

You could go to any SB or CR related thread and get endless stories of peoples' experience. But I'd suggest you spend your time actually understanding what went wrong, and ascertain whether it was actually their fault or your own. Collating more anecdotes is pointless.

    • +3

      Been fine with both.

    • Would hardly call it bagging simply speaking from experience. The amount of time’s I post is irrelevant. Looking to hear from others experiences.

    • +1

If you have issue approach Tightass for cashrewards and gotyourback for shop back here, they certainly can help and solving a lots of my tracking issue

      • Thanks! Will reach out!

    • -4

is there a way to hack the browser so both CR and SB give cashback?

      • No. The stores they provide cashback to use the same affiliate networks so the tracking cookie will override each other and that's at the most basic level of what's involved.

    • I haven't tried ShopBack, but I haven't had issues with CashRewards. My purchases all track, both small amounts as well as larger amounts (in the thousands). I've used them with eBay, AliExpress, Microsoft, Under Armour, Asos, SuperCheap Auto, Nike, Sports Direct, 2XU, Amazon, adidas, Banggood, ICONIC, Lenovo, and they've all tracked.

I had one purchase from Microsoft not track so I contacted them and they got it added. A week or two later, the original purchase appeared as well, so I have two cashbacks for the same purchase. No doubt one of them will get declined when it finally gets processed, but it looks like if I waited, it would have tracked eventually.

I don't run an ad blocker or privacy software of any kind.

    • +2

i reckon shopback is kicking cashreward's ass nowadays

    • +2

Cashrewards Vs ShopBack. What’s Your Experience?

Both dumpster fires….. Too many 'rules' that result in non payment even when you follow the rules.

Funny enough, all my big cash rewards claims get rejected, but my smaller ones go through. Gotta stop and think about that one for a bit some times.

    • I use both never had a problem with either.

No claims declined ever. Only had to chase up 1 with shopback through their website, resolved w/o much hassle.

      More competition the better imo

    • No problems with either. I run ad blocker on iPhone (Blocker+) but have disable cross site tracking disabled in Safari settings. Use SB app and cashrewards through Safari.

But it seems like you’ve had bad experiences with CR at least since May, probably better to stick with SB and move on.

    • My experience with shopback was that I somehow couldn't create an account on the ipad, so I didn't bother with it.
      No problems with cashrewards.

    • Never had a purchase not track with either before, including large purchases. I've done entire overseas holidays through cashback and it all tracked fine.

I've had cashback declined before for using coupons not listed, but that's neither CR or SB's fault in any shape or form. I know for a fact that some affiliate networks used by some websites are terrible at tracking and cause headaches for all cashback sites, like Groupon for example.

    • +1

Had no problems until recently with two cashback that did not track with Cashrewards.
Seems dodgy since I did absolutely nothing different than usual.

    • +2

Was fine for both recently except then had a Cashrewards one pending for what felt like forever. After enquiring and waiting a month it was declined for no reason.

    • No problems with either.

My only continual problem is Lenovo. Either CR or SB, doesn't matter which, Lenovo never seems to track properly and their "order" dates and "invoice" dates differ which makes it a PITA having to get either CR or SB to chase it up.

Despite that I love my Lenovo lappies :)

  • Merged from Preferred - Cashrewards or ShopBack?

I have noticed a lot of hu ha over cashback offers in the last few months and now ShopBack has come a long way to compete with cashrewards.

I would love to know what is more proffered within ozbargain community and why?

    • +5

      Shopback pay faster.

    • +3

shopback coz their rates are usually better. I only go with cashrewards when they have promotions.

    • Started with CR and cbf dealing with 2 cashback places so never signed up for SB but they won me over this black friday

    • +2

Shopback seem to offer consistently higher cashback rates.

I'm currently working through my first issue with Shopback.

I've had two issues with Cashrewards that have both been resolved satisfactorily.

    • +2

Whoever is offering the highest. But if equal, CashRewards

    • Both- but SB seem to come out on top lately with their offers

    • -1

      What is CashRewards ?

    • Started with CR then SB came out swinging so now I alternate between the two depending on deals.
But generally SB have better rates on things like Banggood and Aliexpress where I purchase a lot of crap from.

If the rates are equal I'd go CR to support the Aussie business.

  • CR - tracks faster, pays slower
SB - tracks slower, pays faster

Discounts - about the same ~

    • Do the buttons kill each other? Ie if you activate one it breaks the other or whatever?
If I have both installed chrome ext, how should I make sure it tracks?

  • Merged from Which Cashback Provider Do You Favour?

If you haven't noticed, I post deals from both Shopback and Cashrewards. I don't favour one over the other nor am I loyal to one cashback provider. Whichever provider has the better deal gets my business.

I also don't see the need to take up every bonus cashback offer that is is posted here. Why spend money to buy something that I don't need? Do we favour a provider over another depending on how frequent they offer bonus cashback deals?

So now I'm curious - how many people in the Ozbargain community focus on the deal and not the cashback provider? Or will you only shop through one provider only even when the other/s have a better deal?

    • +1

I think it depends but I use both. If say i'm looking to purchase from iHerb I check both Cash rewards and Shopback and see which one has better rates. I do like the Shopback challenges and extra bonuses though, like the shop at 3 different online stores and get cash back and their Shopback troopers game for chances to get some cash back.

    • +2

Strong preference for Cashrewards. The whole set up there just seems to be more robust.

Not saying I don't use Shopback, but it needs to be a strong deal to get me over there. If they're basically the same deal, then it's Cashrewards.

    • +4

I prefer cashrewards because for me it is just easier. I also prefer to have it all on one place and because I stared with cashrewards I have stuck with it. I also find the tracking more reliable and the rep on here is very responsive and helpful.
I have noticed that the rates are often higher with ShopBack but it hasn’t been enough to sway me.

    • ¿por qué no ambos?

    • +1

I find Shopback more consistent in approving and tracking cashbacks

    • -1

I dont even look at Shopback
I have concerns about them being based in SG and not having to adhere to Australian Privacy Laws etc.

ALSO… the amount of Shopback did not pay my bonus etc posts vs cashrewards ones is huge.
Cashrewards are always quick to track purhcases and if one is missed i have never had it refused ever.
If you follow the steps you should always get your cashback, i find most of the people complaining about CR did not follow every step and usualy have themselves to blame for the missed tracking, where as Shopback ones seem to be many users missing out due to a SB issue.
(Cashrewards posts tend to be 1 person with almost no replies having same issue VS Shopback post by one person with many replies having same issue)

    • Shopback generally provides higher cashback compare to cash reward but at the same time cash reward tracking is very good compare to shopback. so when i have to shop for high value item (above $100) then i use cash reward but for low value item i use whichever provides better cashback rate.

    • Primarily whichever gives the higher cashback rate, for that particular vendor and at that particular time.

All things equal, I prefer Shopback's interface. Tracking seems to be (very slightly) more consistent.

    • I use the Avis 'We Try Harder' principle, unless there's a special/bonus.

Shopback was second on the scene of the majors so they are my default because they pay a little more unless CR has a special/bonus running.

"When you're only No. 2, you try harder. Or else."

    • +1

Of course I take the higher bidder—I'm an OzBargain after all—but having just used SB last night on their 20% Groupon flash sale, I was surprised how much less smooth it was relative to CR. I feel justified for always preferring CR over SB when their offers are equal.

  • Cashrewards for sure even though they may have lower rates at times. Customer loyalty comes with great Customer service, look at TA for example, always ready to help.
For me it is also about likability and the ability to trust the service and brand. Too many horror stories for Shopback swayed me away.

  • The initial days i used to find a cashback offer from shopback was higher compared to cashreward. But nowadays almost all retailers are matched between both, moreover, Cashreward feels right morally even if I am loosing a few cents here and there.

Comparing Cashreward with Shopback : https://piggywise.com/cashrewards-vs-shopback/

    • Cashrewards donates 1% of cashrewards to charity.

  • Been pretty disappointed with SB's offers during Prime Day this year. SB normally shits all over CR, but not this time..

  • Does anyone know with Cashrewards referral if Amaysim is considered a qualifying purchases for referral purposes? T&C state that "subscription services" aren't qualifying but I'm not sure if Amaysim is considered a subscription service.

I've emailed cashreward support but thought I might get quicker answers here.

  • Cashrewards question. Hi all I just managed to score myself a new TLC 75 C835 my first ever smart TV and my first new TV for 12 years. Quite the upgrade from my old Panasonic plasma that is still going strong. I'm getting the sms link soon to pay from my local TGG store, but I want to get my cashrewards cashback and for item to track. I have read on other threads about other members on here doing this and it iand it tracking but what is the procedure, so this works smoothly.

Never done it this way before negotiated with TGG over the phone last time I bought a telly I went into a B&M store and negotiated.in person. Just don't want to miss out on my cashback.

    • No idea for this particular circumstance but usually negotiated prices aren't eligible.
