Samsung Galaxy Note 9 128GB $69.95/Month / Note 9 512GB from $82.45/Month For 24 Months on Woolworths Postpaid Mobile

220

My first post here on OzBargain so please let me know how I can do better in the future.

So I have been looking around for a contract on the Note 9 and yesterday I came across this on Woolworth Mobile:

Galaxy Note 9 128Gb

24 months
$69.95 Unlimited Standard National Calls and SMS/ 3Gb/ BONUS 10GB school holiday data every three months
$79.95 Unlimited Standard National Calls and SMS/ 200 Standard International SMS/ 10Gb/ BONUS 10GB school holiday data every three months
$89.95 Unlimited Standard National Calls and SMS/ Unlimited Standard International SMS/ 20Gb/ BONUS 10GB school holiday data every three months
$99.95 Unlimited Standard National Calls and SMS/ Unlimited Standard International SMS/ 30Gb/ BONUS 10GB school holiday data every three months

Galaxy Note 9 512Gb

24 months
$82.45 Unlimited Standard National Calls and SMS/ 3Gb/ BONUS 10GB school holiday data every three months
$92.45 Unlimited Standard National Calls and SMS/ 200 Standard International SMS/ 10Gb/ BONUS 10GB school holiday data every three months
$102.45 Unlimited Standard National Calls and SMS/ Unlimited Standard International SMS/ 20Gb/ BONUS 10GB school holiday data every three months
$112.45 Unlimited Standard National Calls and SMS/ Unlimited Standard International SMS/ 30Gb/ BONUS 10GB school holiday data every three months

Comparing to other Telcos, this is definitely cheaper. I am not sure about the quality and the service of Woolworths Mobile though. Also I am not sure if the phone from them would be branded version or unbranded version, Single sim or Dual sim. Any information would be very appreciated.

I would love to see what people say about them before pulling the trigger.

Have a good day guys!

  • Because ANYBODY needs 512GB/mo, and then still needs that 10GB bonus?

    • Thanks. Ive just changed the title.

      Because ANYBODY needs 512GB/mo

      512GB?! where??

oh, thanks for getting my hopes up :(

  • On the Telstra network. Optus offer 200 GB for 106.25 a month for the note 9 128 version.

Be careful with the limits on the account. 3gb is not very much. If you can claim the phone and plan, you'd be much better off buying the phone outright and signing up for one of the 12 month plans from telstra.

It is always cheaper to buy outright if you are clever with plans, and don't want to be locked in.

Belong (Telstra subsidiary) has the best deal these days, at $10/month plus a little bit for hacks to get more data.

24-month payment plans are for people who want a phone they really can't afford.
And at the price of a Note 9, bezel-less, which I'm 50/50 going to break the screen of in the first six months, includes me :)

Not always true. I've never in 10 years been on a contract that would have cost me more than outright plus SIM costs.

I spend $50/month ($1200 total cost) for 20GB data (with data free Netflix and Spotify) with a Huawei Mate 10 Pro which was their flagship at the time.

Phone at time of purchase was $1100 outright.

Tell me where I could get 20GB of data, SIM only for $4.67/month.

        You can't.

Granted; I'm on a promo plan, but still. There are ways to get a device on a plan cheaper than outright plus SIM costs.

        Be thrifty. Do the math.

  • 36 month contracts? When did that happen?

    • 36 month contracts have been around since the mobile phone plans were invented, i remember getting an old nokia one in the early 2000s on 36 months. Its like a mortgage 24 months is a 25 year loan vs 36 months is a 30 year loan comparatively speaking.

  • I think still better off to buy outright with a $40 telstra byo plan. I'm on one now with 30gb data, recent sales had note 9 512gb down to $1150.

  • Suggest you check out the woolies mobile thread on whirlpool for more Informationformation/questions. They have a rep there who replies even when he shouldn't be :)

  • Your Plan does not include any allowance for International calls. You may purchase an International Add-on Pack or
activate the International and Extras Extension to enable you to make calls (and send any SMS not included in your Plan)
    to international numbers from Australia.

    Thanks OP. Great post.
Out at a bbq tonight with family and friends and your post was discussed in depth.
It didn't suit one of them who has a note 9 already on one of the Telstra's mega plans due to him being on the road daily. But for another of my mate who works in an office with wi-fi at home and in the office. It's perfect.
As in the $69.95, 24 mth plan. 3 GB pm with bonus top-up every three months. Suits him down to a tee. In terms of cost..just about the rrp of the phone plus the bonus of Telstra's wholesale network.
So many thanks again to ozbargain.

good to know that my effort helps someone. Yeah it works out to be $1,518.80 for the cheapest plan.
      $1,518.80 - $1,499 = $19.80.
So you're basically paying $20 extra (5 coffees) and can get a hand on an Australian stock straight away.
