SSD's are falling faster than Sydney's housing market lol

    • Sydney's housing market is falling?

Isn't it great when you read neoliberal economists claiming that wage growth is bad news for "everybody" (he means corporate Australia not you).

Oh but don't worry, we are now experiencing "glacial growth" in wages since 2016 so it's great news still for "everybody" (corporate Australia is still doing fine)!

          Who is he talking to?

          • @Diji1: If you want fame and money as an economist you talk to business councils.

          • @Diji1: 2016 or 2006?

Why is it a fault? I assume you're an investor?

What would you use a 500GB Samsung 970 EVO NVMe M.2 or the Intel 760p 512GB NVMe M.2 which are now priced around the same mark ?

    • +3

Good question, I think it's the same one many are thinking. I'm going to see what google says and report back. I think the Samsung would have the slight edge but that Intel looks fast too.

      UPDATE:
Well I couldn't find any direct comparisons but individual data suggests the Samsung 970 EVO is faster. Can't go wrong with either I'd say.

      • +3

Found on userBenchmark that the 970 is generally faster in write speed.

    • +4

      970 is much faster

    • +2

970 EVO is faster, especially with disk writes, and it has a slight edge in endurance rating.

You'd generally look at the EVO.

      • yes I wanted the EVO but will wait a bit.

    • +2

It's obvious which is faster! 970>760
Unless there is a red 760…

      • +1

I'm making a red 999 SSD tomorrow. That'll convince everyone mine is fastest.

  • I might sit on the fence and wait, I hope to see more of a price drop around Xmas or just after.

    • +1

Some analysts are saying another 50% drop will occur to SSD prices through 2019.

I'm hoping for 2TB 970 EVO for 200 dollars later in the year.

      • We hope …….

  • Someone please recommend an enclosure for this? Thanks.

can i upgrade my MacBook air's HDD with this? anyone?

    • +1

Most likely not. Check your EMC/Year Model for the appropriate proprietary connector. Older ones have adapters, new don't.

  • How are the Intel NAND chips?

    • Second gen 64-layer 3D NAND co-developed with Micron and made in NSG Dalian Fab 68 in China.

    • Intel is solid. 760p is a very good value SSD, either get it or the 970 Evo.

    Gotcha ;)

  • I thought $99 for 100/40 unmetered was the Telstra price for people who didn't just go to the website and sign up.

It's hard to tell, Telstra has a different price for every customer.

    • +2

My deal has nothing to do with Telstra. I think it is time for you to take a rest break, Diji1.
