Excellent tablet, I got one from the geekbuying deal last month.
I flashed the xiaomi.eu MIUI 10 ROM and it's been great so far.
is it snappy/smooth animation in menus? and is there random crashes like all the other cheapo tabs?
Yeah it's quite snappy and performance is great. Also doesn't feel cheap, feels more like an ipad mini especially with the laminated screen.
Side load all Google play apps?
@fastnet: that's not strictly speaking correct, if you don't know/do not want to unlock + flash then yeah you need to sideload Google stuff.
Nice and snappy. Its got a Snapdragon 660 which is pretty decent CPU/GPU, and its much faster than almost every other mid-ranger, thrashes the $450 Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2018) for example.

I bought the 4plus on gear best. Came w chinese rom, no Google play services.
I like the tablet but wasn't aware of the lack of Google play out of the box.
I've since installed it, but it occasionally complains about some permissions. I've tried setting all the permissions.
The other thing is, i can't have long press home button open Google assistant. I can only invoke Google after a recent update, not the assistant.
Another this is MIUI 10 has disabled Live Wallpaper.
These are only little things.
You should try unlocking it and installing xiaomi.eu ROM which is optimised for Global use with Google Play already pre-installed etc. and all the Chinese stuff removed.
I am in the same boat as you, can't get calender to work properly for some reason, but as soon as I unlock (you have to wait 2 weeks for some retarded reason) all should be well. I'll put up with a bit of jank for the price, the speed/build are amazing for the $$$.
"Delivered" in the title is a little misleading as shipping adds AU$25 (if purchasing 1x) - this applies to the Mi Box S

yep, they have told me 7-10 days, about 3 times now… and each time its elapsed, i just raised a ticket, as its been a month now, I'll be very hesitant to order from them again in the future.
first they told me 14th would have stock, now it's the 21st. what a joke.

Cancelled on the 15th of Jan and got a full refund and bought it off Aliexpress and received it on the 24th of Jan. Had to pay about $40 more but I was sick of waiting. Really happy with my tablet.
If you do cancel, I recommend raising a paypal dispute, their chat support on their site is useless.
Edit: never ordering through GearBest ever again after this awful experience.

If you are interested in getting it from Aliexpress, I'd recommend getting it from the Mi France Store. I paid for DHL shipping so it arrived a bit quicker.

@iuselect: hey thanks for the link, I've gave it two months (as of today) and because they haven't delivered, I've raised a case with paypal, they responded immediately and have said they will provide a refund…and asked if that was OK, pretty pathetic that's for sure.
The ali express one goes for 6 more days so hopefully i can buy before then when the gearbest case is settled - thanks for the link.
@wisc: All good. GearBest refunded me within a day so you should be okay. Aliexpress you will have to pay GST so it works out to be about $270 I think. I didn't care anymore so just paid it.

@wisc: GearBest are a joke. Demand a refund/raise a paypal dispute. They garbage support tried to offer me a store credit zzz. Glad you got it from aliexpress though.
Im still waiting on my Joybuy tablet too, from Singles day i imagine?
Its shipped, i can work that out, everything else i ordered from JoyBuy that day arrived over the past 4 weeks. So annoying.
Add to that my new iPad Pro on backorder from Optus and this tablet teasing is getting really annoying!
