ugh would have done it, but $17 shipping, not worth it for a keyboard. And too lazy to go pick it up :P

    • +9

cool, more stock for the rest of us! :P

    • Same here ( would have bought it for like $10 shipping)

Odd that msy state they can't ship to parcel lockers on the delivery page and will cancel the order if you enter one, yet the only delivery option is auspost…

    • +3

If you have a Auspost account, you'd get the option of redirecting to your parcel locker, probably with 1 extra day added to the delivery time.

    • Considering the issues I've read about people having with parcel lockers, I'm not surprised more places refuse to deliver to them.

      • I now got my parcel sent to parcel collect.

  • Always wanted to try red and browns properly before committing to something like an ergodox.

Got the reds. Now I need a cheap way of trialling browns.

You can get these Cherry key samplers for pretty cheap: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4-6-8-9-12-17-Switches-Sampler-T…

      • +3

I've actually got one, but hammering on a single key just ain't the same as trying out a full keyboard every day.

It was enough to know I wanted red or brown though.

        • Yep, I went to a department store overseas with over 30 keyboards to try (torpe, cherry, etc). Even spending 30 minutes there wasn't enough. You really have to buy a cheap one and use it for a while.

I got the i-rocks from Mwave, however this is out of stock currently
      https://www.mwave.com.au/product/irocks-k65m-mechanical-keyb…

There is the cherry branded one too
      https://www.mwave.com.au/product/cherry-mxboard-20-usb-keybo…

      • The i-Rock is a very good keyboard. I purchased some for work (brown switch).
However, be aware! The keycaps are designed for a keyboard with backlighting but the i-Rock does not have backlighting. This leads to visibility of the keys being a bit poor.
Not a huge issue, I assume most people buying a keyboard with mech switches are touch typists.

        • Yeah that's true the keycaps are quite hard to read.
I did buy some green varmillo keycaps at the same time and have swapped them now

    • Reds are nice.

Some JB Hi Fi (I know Hornsby has it) has Cherry switch demo on the wall (which include red, brown, blue, silent and speed)

      • That's good to know thanks

    • I actually have an Ergodox with Cherry Blues.

Expect to take a bit of a while to get used as the layers are a bit confusing but it's such a good keyboard to use and nice to have something spaced out.

    • You probably already know this if you're considering getting an ergodox, but while reds feel nice (I really love how they feel and prefer them for gaming), you'll regret getting them as soon as you're typing on them for extended periods since the lack of a bump means that you don't know when the key has actuated.

      • no way, no waaaay
its like walking barefoot vs walking with bouncy running shoes
your fingers will get feedback regardless .. aka you know you've actuated the switch

  • Maybe I'm doing it wrong but I don't see any option for store pickup. With this being a clearance product is it delivery only?

    -edit
didn't notice the 'stock availability' button showing it available everywhere. Where the hell is the damn pickup option?

  • thks and getting 2 ….my son can keep one and one for his close friend as Christmas present …better than lego for $50.

    • +1

There is only one thing better than lego, ask Andrew Johns

  • Seems like a decent price for a mechanical keyboard.

    • Yes and its non led so doesn't light up like a disco , good for office or home non gaming use .

Lots of mech keyboards over do it

      • +1

What makes a non-LED version more suitable for non gaming use?

        • +1

So you don't look like a 1337 g4m3r when you take it to work would be my guess

@tanabe88gg: You aint spreadsheeting like a pro unless you got them rgb.

            /s

  • I bought Gigabyte K83 Red (from here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/421833)

Similar price range so I would suggest comparing before proceeding.

    • Island design is like my Logitech ….you can clean under keys with vacuum or a brush and spills just run down off the base plate …

  • For anyone wanting to read a review first, this is a budget and non-RGB version of the K65.

    • It's (K65 … forget the variant name) my favourite keyboard that I've owned albeit that I have RGB.

The only problems with it are all to do with RGB so pretty nice kb IMO.

      • +1

I think the bottom row of keys has custom key caps, so that's another consideration.

  • Ahh damn, bought this keyboard about a month ago at full price! Always seems to be the way it goes haha

  • +4

The product may not be brand new! This is worth noting from the description on the website:

The product(s) will vary in condition and might be an Ex-Demo or damaged packaging.

    • So a used bottom of the line keyboard with no Christmas lights. Ho ho ho no!

    • +1

I just got 3 from msy, no box damage, factory sealed …..

      • Thank you for sharing your experience, but not everyone buying it might be equally lucky.

The vendor is clearly stipulating that the item might be used, so I'm not going to put my money into it. Just a personal preference though.

  • +3

no thx to a used keyboard.

  • Is this good for office use?

    • Yes. Great if you're in an activity base working environment and don't want to wipe down the office supplied keyboards.

At our office, I regularly see employees pick their noses and use the company supplied keyboards. Our cleaners are suppose to wipe the office supplied keyboards every day.. but I doubt that this happens.

      • Thanks mate, I am currently using logitech mk270, just thinking to upgrade, I clean my keyboard quite regularly and my table tidy. I am thinking to buy it, in saying there are so many good keyboard with MSY, don't know what i need hehe.

    • The clicks are so loud as well, you'll sound like an even faster typer with this keyboard!

      • Oh really, I guess I will just wait for any logitech keyboard deals then, I mainly use it for office, I don't play games. Thanks!

      • yes people can hear it but its not as loud as old IBM keyboards, so won't be annoyed too much!
it'll blend in fine with general office noise unless you're hammering them real hard

        • :) All good, I will just have a look at logitech keyboards, they might have good deals on boxing day

    • -1

Yes you don't want the for office use as the SOE might not give you admin rights to turn off the RGB light show

  • Good price. If only they had cherry brown switches then I would definitely buy.

    • Me too.

  • Pretty good.

  • +3

Just bought one, the character on the key cap is a sticker only, not even print on it!

  • Thanks OP checked msy website and found Auburn NSW store had stock so went and picked for $50. Will pick a brown switch one next. Keeping and eye out for K70 or MK750 to go under $100
