  • Is this better than the equivalent VAX?

  • +2

I must admit I have no idea what the differences are between the v6, v7, v8, v9 or v10.

Whopping differences in price. Can one really be 3x better than the other?

      • +19

        Battery is the biggest differentiator.

model - suction - battery - noise - bin size

        v6 - 100AW - 20m - 76dB - 0.4L
        v7 - 100AW - 30m - 70dB - 0.4L
        v8 - 115AW - 40m - 73dB - 0.54L
        v10 - 140AW - 60m - 75dB - 0.77L

        v6 seems a bit dated.

v10 only seems worthwhile as a replacement for a "proper" vacuum - if you're getting this as a "can't be bothered getting the big one out", the v7 seems best value.

There was another video stating that the V6 and V7 have identical battery capacities.

The V7 has extra 5 to 6 mins of runtime…. by reducing the suction power (by around 25% less) when it's used in low power mode.

That also explains why the noise levels are different, because the V6 is actually running the motor harder than the V7.

          • @scrimshaw:

because the V6 is actually running the motor harder than the V7.

I think almost all the noise of vacuum cleaners and fans is caused by air turbulence rather than motors.

        • Dear God, my dc35 only has 65 air watts of suction with 7 minutes of run time on high.

  • Cheaper than the Aldi special I saw on the v6

    • think the aldi one was v6 animal

  • anyone having problems checking out?

    • Yes, not working for me :(

      • works with the 5% code.

    • As in you can't apply the code? Or can't checkout once the code is applied?

      • Can't checkout

        • I would have guessed maybe they're having stock issues at whichever store you're trying to use but could be wrong if the 5% code works. They've sold about 40 of them since I posted

        • I just purchased one and picking up from south land and checked out fine.

        • And also pickup10 code

May not be relevant, but I have a V8 Absolute and able to clean my whole apartment in one battery cycle. It's a 3br apartment about 85 sqm of hardfloor using the hardfloor attachment. Normal mode with occasional MAX mode usage.

Couldn't do it with the V6 I had previously owned.

  • Which version is this - Motorhead/Animal or Absolute?

  • Choice (not that they are good sometimes) ranked it almost as good as the V8 and V10!!! Wish I could post the screen shot.

    • Cmon..Surely not the V10?

      • +1

Waiting patiently for V10 absolute deal.

        • Not a bargain by any means, but the 10% off works on the V10 too, bringing it down to $899

          • @whitelie: shoulda just waited for a 20% TGG sale…I'm sure it will come around soon enough

            • @Lancerx: The 20% off good guys sale just ended but u can get v10 absolute+ and day for $799 goodguys just ask

        • I am actually waiting for the V14 to come out. Then I will be able to get the V10 at a fantastic price!

          • +1

@0z: I'm waiting for dyson to improve their battery before buying! Tried my friend's v10, only lasted around 20 min on Max setting.. Pretty crap for a $999 vacuum

            • @Lancerx: what surface can you cover in 20mn, can i compare these to a xiaomi robot vac ?

              • @juki: You can't really compare Dyson V10 to Xiaomi Robot, juat not apple to apple. Xiaomi robot is good for its automation, but nowhere near the suction power of V10. Xiaomi good for hard surface only. However, my xiaomi roborock can run about 90 mins before returning. Just irrating V10 can let me vaccumm two cars at once on max setting.

            • @Lancerx: You absolutely do not need to run these at max for that long unless you haven't vacuumed in months and everything is covered in animal hair. Normal mode is perfectly fine. 20 mins of max beats my dc38's 6 minutes of max time.

  • What’s the difference between this and the v6 animal origin big w currently has for $349 ?

    • According to the Dyson website, 75% more power, longer lasting battery, bigger bin. The Animal will have the mini-motorised tool, which is probably worth about $50 if you buy it separately though.

    • looks like v7 got the new trash release as well?

      are the heads compatible?

  • Thanks OP
Could not checkout with code for pick up at Fountain Gate VIC - kept getting error on checkout. Changed to Southland and worked fine

  • Anyone knows how does this compare to $99 dollars Kmart Dyson copy?

Its a $212 difderence? Is it justifiable?

  • what the difference between this and V7 Animal.

~$330.00 AUD on amazon shipped (free if you have Prime).

    https://www.amazon.com/Dyson-Animal-Cordless-Vacuum-Cleaner/…

  • Any deals on the V8 absolute?

    • Can't get the 10% off but you'll get it down to $567.15 delivered with the P5OFF code.
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Dyson-164527-01-V8-Absolute-…

Or you could go thru David Jones for $594 but they have 10% cashrewards.

    • cheapest i found for v8 absolute was 570 delivered from dyson australia and myer and the good guys, i missed the deal to buy it around black friday for 500 delivered. the problem with v7 is a its a detuned v6 motor lol, its still better than v6 in other features, coz the bin release is updated which was shitty in the v6, also the head design in newer, im willing to go to $500, nothing more, ill wait around until the v8 absolute hits 500

  • Change of location got it to work, thanks OP

  • Hi, does anyone else get this when they try and do click and collect? It says the Dyson is in stock at the store I put for click and collect but when I try to pay it says this:

Something went wrong. Please try to check out again.

    Error codes: 70049 70084

  • +1

Been waiting for a good deal on a V6 / V7 these past few weeks as a Christmas present. Left it a little too late, so this deal with click and collect worked perfectly. Thanks OP!

  • For those wanting to know what screws you need for the wall bracket of this and the V6. I brought the Ramset wallmate twist and lock with screw set. About $5 from Bunnings. Holds 20kg. Onto plaster. Just use wood screws if you can find a stud. pack of 4. You'll need to predrill a hole with an 8mm bit. use a level and pencil to mark on wall. You maybe able to use the 10Kg set, but just brought the highest weight set.

The Dyson set doesn't come with screws to fit the wall bracket to it.
