I was so excited when I first heard about the C64 mini, but lost all interest after I read that the keyboard isn't real.

Good price though. I wonder if the $70 saving would be enough to cover the cost of parts required to hack it to make the keyboard functional.

    • The keyboard will never be functional. It's a single piece of plastic

    • U can connect a keyboard via usb if you really need it… Or it comes with built in virtua keyboard

    • Thanks, saved me looking up the information myself.

  • Probably worth noting this is coming from the US.

    • I picked one up form the US Amazon as well ($90 AUD - :-() and it arrived rapidly! US yes, but should make no difference. Tomorrow I will know. :-)

      • What could the difference be?

It uses USB power and the firmware are all the same

Thanks. Bought one. Regular price of $150 was a bit steep, but this is good value.

  • 720p

    What no 8bit?

    • Could be 720p 8bit…

Thanks OP! Ordered one. Looking forward to revisit all the games I used to play!

And there are 1000s. No hack required to even play them. Amazing!

well to make it realisitic, shove the tape in and have a few games of hide & seek before playing.

  • Isn’t there a full size with working keyboard coming out?

    • There is a rumour that they are looking to produce a full size replica version with a working keyboard. But I think you may be able to use a USB keyboard on the mini.

      • Yer you can
The full size is coming out in 2019

Lol keyboard doesn't work what's the point?

  • My understanding is there is a firmware update that allows you to upload any game you like so no longer restricted to what it comes with. Also fixed a bunch of other issues.i assume the firmware update can be applied to any units sold previous

  • Where do you plug in the Datasette?

Ended up biting at that price. More just as a collectible as I already have several working C64s and an Ultimate-64 :)

  • It’s funny how everyone has their favourite classic console these days. For me, only the SNES would be worth it since I actually found that an amazing console with some fantastic games which are still good enough to play today (my best friend had one back in the days, I went for the Megadrive - fall). The only game on the NES I’d see myself playing would be Super Mario 3 and to me the C64 is just not worth it (fully acknowledging the role they played in bringing arcade games to the living room but games were just a bit too simple back then to enjoy now I suppose). I see no point in the new PS1 either - to me, all the good PS games have been improved over the years, there’s not a single game that stood out which hasn’t been replaced by something better (eg FIFA).

  • Be nice to see EB Games get their price down on this

  • Love mine. What a bargain. Amazon even gave me a $15 credit due to price reduction. So mine got down to about $65 after cashrewards and this credit.

But boy the games are hard!
