    Price beat at Bunnings tomorrow.

    • how much for tomorrow

      • As in "we'll beat it by 10%" (unless we change our mind for some reason)

        • +1

“We don’t price match online stores such as Amazon…” was what I was told last time I was in there. YMMV…

          • +1

@pegaxs: If they say that, ask for a Manager or tell them to read the Price Match Policy.
Bunnings even matches overseas stores, as long as you factor in currency exchanges and shipping prices.

In regards to eBay, Bunnings will only price match a store on eBay, not an individual seller.

            • +1

@Antares: I’ll put on my best “I want to speak to the manager” hair cut next time and give that a go and take a copy of the relevant section of the policy. But thanks for the heads up. Worth trying again.

              • @pegaxs: I appreciate you're not one of those "I want to talk to the manager" type people, but in this case the person who told you that was just wrong. You could try another person working there if you prefer not to ask for a manager, and hope that the person you get actually knows what they're talking about.

                • @Antares: Oh, I am definitely the talk to the manager type. But sometimes I just CBF with it. I guess I just accepted that their word was policy. I will be chasing it up from now on through.

I think he means he will be going to Bunnings tomorrow to price beat this price

    • Bunnings price match Amazon?

      • They have previously with Philips Hue.

      • Sure do but in my experience they usually drop the price straight away so they don't have to match even if the tickets say the higher price

  • +1
    • Showing as $233.95 for me on that link.

      • Will get there at 7am
Hopefully price stays higher than amazon

      • Same. Showing as $233.95 at Bunnnigs. A successful price beat would be $206.10. Get there early before they match Amazon.

        • +1

If Bunnings matches the price to Amazon, can go to OW to price beat for $217.55

  • +2

Bunnings Nunawading VIC did price beat for me yesterday (24th Dec 18) . Got it for some $206.xx Merry Christmas

  • Just ordered one from Amazon AU with Shopback cashback. Thanks.

These are great. Mine filmed Santa coming through the front door last night!

    • +2

That's what the big red blur was on mine last night…

  • +3

These need paid subscription if u want to save video

    • Not an overlay necessary feature.

  • +2

Make sure you actually mount these properly. Seen far too many videos of thieves just coming up and yanking it off.

    • Ring will apparently replace it for free if provided with a police report stating that the camera was stolen.

Still good to properly secure it but as someone who just received the Gen 1 version of this as a gift from family today, it's good to know that I don't have to worry about someone ripping it off the wall.

Has anyone tried this with Google Home Hub?
This link says it's compatible but reviews are saying it's not…

As Ring is now owned by Amazon you will not be able to stream live video, this is all you will be able to do: With the Ring Assistant App, you can ask Google to start a new recording, turn on and off your motion alerts, get a health update on your devices and review your last Ring notification.

  • I bought 4 of these and even subscribed to the yearly video recording. However the video recording freezes for 15 seconds every time it records with our fail. My internet is fast. I don't know what is causing it but it's very disappointing for what I paid for them.

    • +5

      Probably crappy wifi

      • My wifi is fast and I have a very good modem. My other place with a different modem has the same problem. My brother bought one and has the same problem. It's the product not my wifi!

  • What are people's comments on this doorbell?
I read that you have to pay a subscription in order to have the video recorded. Otherwise you are only able to live stream when someone rings the bell.

    • +2

      You are correct.
The subscription is $40 each year.

if your Ring Video Doorbell 2 gets stolen, we'll replace it for free

    According to Ring:
    * You will need the police report in order for Ring to provide you with a free replacement device.
    * Replacement devices offered under this policy are offered on a "like for like" basis. The replacement device will be the same make and model as the original stolen device.

    Some things to consider.

You can't make the report over the phone because you won't get a copy of the police report.

If the model you have becomes obsolete you won't get a replacement if Ring no longer keeps it.

FYI, forthose who are planning on getting this door bell, read this https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/ringdoorbell/c…

    • +2

FWIW that's not this model, but yeah, sounds like a typical American company.

    • So this one doesn't have the battery issue as the one mentioned on reddit? I would definitely hardwire mine, so issue as such would be deal breaker, almost ridiculous even.

Posted the same deal yesterday and…… this somehow isn’t a dupe. And gets more votes.

    OzB is funny.

Has the V2 made this product perform even one of the basic functions it's supposedly designed for?

Buyer beware: The Ring V1 was/is absolute garbage and it's highly unlikely the V2 is any different.

    • What's wrong with the V1? I installed mine today and it's working flawlessly. Motion detection and the response after actually ringing the doorbell are fine, and the app works well. I can get from my home screen to viewing the live view in exactly 7 seconds, which is pretty good compared to other wifi cameras I have which take upwards of 30 seconds and will only load 50% of the time.

The only thing I don't like is the video quality. My old iPhone 4 was a higher resolution than the doorbell.

      • This is 1080p

      • +3

First and foremost the motion sensor is fundamentally flawed - I suspect by design. Myself and many, many others have returned multiple units because the device was not detecting legitimate motion (ie clearly visible humans approaching and standing in front of the device) as well as frequent false-alarms.

The recommended 'environmental conditions' for the proximity sensor to operate correctly are so slim that the Ring is all but useless for many homes. I forget the exact numbers but you must be a certain distance from the road to avoid motion detection from vehicular traffic, not have any trees/shrubs/hedges in front of the Ring that can move in the wind and trigger a motion detection. Personally me environment was within the recommended guidelines and I still had trouble so I returned the unit to Ring under warranty as myself and Ring suspected the Motion sensor on my device was faulty but my replacement device has the same issues and was even made worse after a firmware update.

I can't speak for now (Ring may have improved on the delay for live view) but when I last used my Ring about 18 months ago the delay was so bad that quite often the Auspost courier would leave before I got a notification on my phone.

        • Hm fair enough. Ours doesn't face towards a main road so we aren't having issues with false detections luckily. Just the ring, the front door and then a concrete wall with our driveway visible as well, so hopefully we won't have any issues.

As for the reaction time, about 10 minutes ago our neighbours got home (we have a shared driveway) and I got the notification saying that motion had been detected. Managed to get the live view up within about 10 seconds, before they'd even turned off their car, so it seems like the delay is definitely a non issue. I've found a lot of old comments online talking about the delay issues so it seems like maybe they've improved it over time. I also have the setting for more responsive live view or whatever activated, which apparently reduces load speeds but increases battery usage.

Guess I'll just have to wait and see, but no issues so far (luckily). If I have to bring this thing back I'll be disappointed.

  • Not sure what all the negative reviews are, had v1 for a year now and it’s amazing.

When I first installed it, I had an issue with the battery depleting very fast (2 weeks instead of 6 month promise in marketing).

I sent their customer service an email and they mailed me the ring doorbell which acts as a wifi extender for free. Never had an issue since and the motion detection is great.

Customer service is A+ with these guys in my experience. Recommend peice of technology for the home no doubts.

This v2 would be even better as it’s 1080p and v1 is 720p

Same price at HN $229 too if you want to price beat at Bunnings

    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=ring…

    • Thanks. Got the pro for $279

  • This is the lowest price for this unit yet.

It's usually hard to justify the premium from the Ring Doorbell 1 ($149 > $329), but given this price it's a no brainer.

Will be listing my original Ring on eBay shortly…

  • Seems like HomeKit comparability was advertised by Ring but never followed through, so I am a bit on the fence with this one … hmmm.

  • i got one of these, i regret it. they suck.

    • Might be better to describe the issues you faced, so we can make up our mind accordingly.

  • Just Price beat at Bunnings with the Harvey Norman $229 Price (https://www.harveynorman.com.au/ring-video-doorbell-2.html)

    Bringing it down to $206.10

Bunnings advertising for $233.95 on website (https://www.bunnings.com.au/ring-video-doorbell-2_p4211501)

The Price match team in head office is on holidays so they cant bring the price down

I have an Alexa Echo at home hoping it links nicely in comparison to the Google Hub

  • Just got one from Bunnings at $206.xx. I them the Amazon AU site link and they beat it by 10%.

  • Thanks op. Price beat at Bunnings. Also got the Spotlight cam battery for the same price. $206

  • Anyone have a receipt for today from Bunnings?

  • Bunnings have updated their price to $228 so pricebeat no longer possible…

  • I got to bunnings this morning while the website still said $238 and so did the tag but it scanned in at $228. Complained on the website and took it higher. Being refunded the extra tomorrow
