$50 Cash Back on New Credit Cards from Commonwealth Bank

93

Not sure if anyone still needs a credit card from Commonwealth Bank. I do not need one at the moment, but reckon its still a deal for those who need it.

CBA is having a promotion for their credit cards.

All new credit cards get $50 cash back. Limited time.

  • Not as good as the fee free offer 2 months back.

  • i got gold card annual fee $141 waived on last time offer

    • is this recurring each year though?
      Just wondering

  • it's going to be good if you are a student

    • If you can pass the credit check…

      • i currently having a student credit card with the initial limit 11k

        • +1

you are bloody joking. I've had my student awards card with them since 2008 and my limit is only 4k…

omg, a student with an 11k limit. life of credit card debt here we come!

        • .

        • ditto. only 4k limit since 2009 Feb. Are you sure the 11k is not accumulated limit but granted initially?

What's the point of 11k when you don't earn enough to pay that off before interest is starting to charge

  • Yeah good if you're a student, free credit card and $50 free cashback =D

  • You won't see the credit until 6th August according to the T&C.

  • i got a student cedit card as well. Am i still eligible if i can apply one more?

  • i wonder if you can get this $50 in conjunction with the cba $100 bonus cash offer if you hold a nab credit card? i dont think it will be allowed as this one needs to be done online while for the nab offer you need to go into a cba branch so they can copy your nab credit card. btw the $100 bonus cash ends April 30th.

Banks giving you $$$ to sign-up for credit cards…

Trying to break the current money-saving trend of NOT having / using COSTLY credit cards, with tiny cash payments.

Only in Sweden have I seen outside ads, in public places, encouraging people to SAVE UP for the things they want, ie, rather than take on more HIGH-INTEREST credit card debt.

(Sweden has always struck me as a great place to find good ideas…)

I don't consider this a good deal, over the life of the customer… It gets my THUMBS-DOWN award. :-)

    • i think its more of personal preference, its a deal to others who doesn't have a credit card or thinking of signing for one because theirs is expiring soon, etc..

well, as i said in the post that its not for myself, and I don't see why holding credit cards will harm others if you know what you are spending on, depends solely on individuals and their circumstances..

you might not have a credit card but that doesn't mean others might not when they need it for emergency. some people might be looking to renew their credit card.. i have a platinum card from CBA which I signed up early this year and a few other credit cards, but I do not have a high interest rate debt on any of them.. doesnt mean that credit card = high debt.. high debt is when you spend what you can't pay for.. might apply to some but not everyone =)

i think CBA 'lost' alot of annual fees at the beginning of the year for the free first free annual fee waiver which might be why they reduced it to cashback..

      cheers

  • Cheapest basic card $24 so you make $26. You could also apply for a St George credit card via buckscoop and earn $100 less annual fee of $55 to make $45.

  • Just called up and I can jump from one card to another and still gain the 50 bucks without losing anything. Bargain in my book. So the comments about greedy banks, I'm sticking it to them now!

    • are you sure? i dont think you will qualify for the $50 if you do a cba card migration?
