I was not planning to apply before as I feel a $ 250 fee for 60 k points is to high for applying a new card, but $ 125 is worth it. ( tipped the scale over for me )

Please note does not say anything regarding transfer points to Qantas for a additional fee or anything

In my case I not interested to transfer any points to Qantas so didn’t bother

This is my First Post so hope is a per the high standard

  • How soon can you cancel your card after you have received your points and transferred them to the QFF program?

    • I believe you can cancel at anytime. Also, to join the qantas program there is an additional $49 per year so that'll make the price come to $174, which would still make it a great deal.

      • Go get yourself a Woolworth Everyday Rewards card and you get the Qantas Frequent Flyer programme for free.

Edit: or are you talking about the fee to set up points transfer to QFF?

    • You have to pay the annual fee so there is no need to cancel it straight away

  • 60 000 will get you a return flight from SYD-HKG (plus taxes/fuel fines), so not a bad deal.

    • What airline?

      • On Qantas. You could actually push it to KF (SIA) and get more value out of it. Flights to Asia are about 23-25k points one way (although the Citipoints:KF points is not 1:1).

  • Checkout the discussion here, http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/41696

I think you have to opt-in to QFF before earing the points.

    • Could anyone who did actually got the 60000 bonus points into QFF speak up and clear things up, please?

      • +1

        Confirmed.

        Make sure you:

1 DO NOT USE YOUR CARD YET.

2 Opt in to the QFF program BEFORE YOU USE YOUR CARD.
        a. Activate your card.
        b. On a separate phone call (so the nice Citibank person doesn't get confused), opt into the QFF rewards program. Agree to pay the $49.

3 Once you have your pin, set up online access, go online, and check if you're opted in.
        a. Click on the rewards option on the right.
        b. Click on the Browse through Citi Rewards
        c. You should see that you're in the QFF program. If not, ring up and get it fixed.

4 Once you're certain you're in the program, spend on your card!

5 You won't see the points until your first statement - where it will show your spend points (you don't get points for the annual fee, additional cardholder fee, etc), as well as 60,000 bonus points, all listed as QFF points.

  • I had horrible exprience with Citibank in the past. $5000 unauthorized use on my card and they didn't even try to notify me. I had to proof myself that the transactions are fraud while they keep charging me interest for the next 4 months. I recommend cancel your card as soon as you make use of your rewards.

  • Bugger, signed the Mrs up before this offer.

Make sure you opt in to QF transfer before you spend anything on the card, if you want to use these for QF.

That way the you're in the bonus program when they award the bonus points.

    • Maybe you should give Citi a call to ask for reduction if you just signed up recently. Also are you sure you can get the bonus 60k points if you opt for QF Award - I was told by the customer service rep on the phone I could only get the bonus point with the default reward program.

  • My application still on progress, if it comes approved do you think i should be able to snatch this deal as well, mention it when i activate the card and tell them to put it in the systems the promo code.. what do you all reckon?

    • Email or call them to find out. I believe they will honor the deal but please let us know.

      • ttkc,i'm afraid i cant update you with that info they have declined my application.. that is because i work as a contractor
i hate Citibank.. i wish i dont have to deal with them, they are really hard to get on business.. their customer service sucks.. they arent flexible like Australian!!

  • It seems like the points can be transferred to qantas

But i think it could be possible that citibank could change their mind

    The terms and conditions say

    1. To be eligible for the 60,000 bonus Citibank Reward points

^There are two rewards programs available. Unless you choose the Citibank Qantas Rewards Program, you will automatically be enrolled in the Citibank Rewards Programs.

The terms and conditions say that you get Citibank Reward points which sounds like they belong in the Citibank Rewards Program

  • Just wondering if this 50% off annual fee & 60000 points offer is still available? I cannot find it on the Citi bank website.
