In my opinion the Elements is a much better drive. Standard connector (more robust too) & no bloatware.

  • wasn't there a 1tb for $99 recently?

actually, that was a USB 3.0 drive, which made it a much better deal for only $1 more.

  • anyone know if this drive will be a standard sata drive so i can swap it with my macbook's drive? or does anyone know of any 1tb external drives which i can do it with?

  • Is this more reliable than the "Portable HD Seagate 2.5 inches 1TB"? What other brands are more reliable?

    • Samsung, Maxtor(Now owned by seagate). I currently am using a Samsung S2 1Tb and has been very reliable, no failures, no files lost, and is quite fast even though it is USB 2.0. And my 5 year old Maxtor is still working like it was when it was new (but it's a tad slower than the samsung), but no files lost on that through its rough use either. Both are 2.5" hdds. Whilst buying my Samsung, I did see quite a few WD 2.5" 640gb as returned and discounted stock at officeworks.
