  • good deal?

    • I'm considering buying it for this price. Hasn't gone below 85 for ages. Any idea how to find out what price history? Want to know how much cheaper it has been.

        Was 55 before

        • Is that just from memory or is there a website that you use?

      • search for the product on here and then filter it by date (instead of relevance) you wil then get a list of every deal and thread for past deals

Yeah so what. Have you seen that price since?. I bet you hadn't. Well then it's not applicable.

Lots of stuff went up in price since then due to the Australian dollar value.

      • The updated version came out in Oct or Nov, that was the previous Gen

Fairly sure that was a price error (reading the comments) and not a genuine discount.

        • Looks like you're right. Next best that I saw was with Volstreet.com at $64 and they seemed to have disappeared off the face of the earth. Other than that all other prices seem to be around this price. Would be nice to have Kayo in full HD. Would rather watch stuff in full HD now than wait and save a buck or two.

          • @ozbs25: If u have xbox one u can get kayo full screen and HD through edge browser

            • @mlburnian: Ended up getting an ultra. Kayo looks heaps better. Thanks for the info though

              • @ozbs25: Is it 4k on ultra? On xbox one its FHD, looks way better than channel 7 HD

                • @mlburnian: We don't have a 4k tv yet. I mainly wanted to get the ultra for the ethernet socket. Yeah watched a bit of Kayo today. The NBA game looked really good. Don't know what it was but looked much better than free-to-air. Maybe the 60fps??

Doesn't the vodafone tv achieve the same for less?

    • I want the Ultra for the gigabit ethernet connection. Vodafone TV doesn't have that. Also hoping to get the ultra for cheaper than the VTV

    • +1

I've got both and the VTV is pretty bad for Chromecasting. It stutters/buffers all the time, but works fine when playing the same streams using installed apps.

  • I have a regular Chromecast for my non-smart(?) FHD TV and love it. I also have a 4K Samsung smart TV that's great in terms of apps, but it doesn't have a Chromecast built in and casting from mobile using the Samsung app is a nightmare.

Would this be a good buy for me or is there a simpler/cheaper way to get decent casting?

    • +1

Pretty sure the main difference between this and the Chromecast 3 is the 4k support. If you're not going to cast in 4k, I'd look for the 3 (around $60 when not on sale)

Short answer, yes! Will do the job nicely.
