Another $300 spent on a gadget I don't really need :P
But thank-God the optus one was fake! I was kicking myself…but all's good now :)
Just took my JB Hi-FI receipt to Harvey Norman gepps cross (Adelaide) and got them to price match me one - a pristine, sealed, factory unlocked and unbranded P1000 (optus compatible version).
i'll probably get rid of my telstra one now as the optus-compatible one I just got from Harveys is more suitable for the $1 TPG plan im going to put it on :)
Hi Xyron. Im using my TPG sim card in my Telstra one I bought from JB HIFI on Thursday and its working perfectly. I live in country WA and cant get broadband here, only wireless internet. Do you mind letting me know why the Optus one would be better? Sorry about so many questions. This is all new to me. Thank you.
When you're on data does the top icon say G or 3G or H? If you have a Telstra SIM handy, try the same test.
edit: I'm in Perth, I have a Telstra Tab, and Telstra and TPG(Optus) SIMs.
With the Telstra SIM it says 3G, with the TPG SIM it says G.
Also, see if the Optus coverage maps make any sense to you.

Hi Korda. When Im on Data the top icon says H. Im with TPG, but live near Bunbury. When I go to Perth next I will see what it says then. Is H a good thing? I have the Telstra Tab from JB Hifi. Sharon
If you're getting H with a Telstra Tab and an Optus/TPG SIM in Bunbury, that's fantastic. That means you're getting some sort of high speed 3G coverage instead of slow GPRS. Getting a H in Bunbury implies Optus have rolled out 2100MHz coverage down there, which also means hell has frozen over.
I'll be down south in a couple of weeks, I'll give it a spin on my Telstra and Optus devices and Telstra and TPG SIMs.
Could I please ask you to post a scan of your Harvey Norman receipt?
This could be useful to get other Harvey Norman's to price match as I really want an Optus version.
Good price for the Galaxy Tablet, was severely overpriced when first released. However I'm waiting until the Motorolla Xoom gets released shortly, great reviews from CES.

Now what is a good case for these Tabs? The guy tried to sell me the offical Samsung one for $48 but I thought that was a tad $$$ If it was cheaper I would of liked to get the offical one

i managed to place on hold the last 2 units at mildura, which is about 12 hours return by driving from melbourne. if anyone interested, i am happy to sell it for $360 for 1 unit only sealed brand new.(the other unit i will keep it for myself) the $61 i made from this is to cover my 12 hours driving and petrol. i will also provide u the jb receipt dated 7th may mildura jb. you can pick up the item from me at melb cbd on sunday. otherwise, if no one is interested, i will sell it at a higher price on ebay or gumtree

My Sister just bought one from JB Hifi, but had to pay $299. She went in thismorning and they refused to sell her one stating they couldnt even put it through the register. When asked why the salesman said they revieved an e-mail on Thursday advising everyone to stop selling them. Apparently they are coming out again in the next catalogue for $299. also and had to have stock for the new catalogue. My Sister then went to Harvey Normans, but they were all sold out. When my Sister told the guy at HN's JB had alot of stock, but wont sell he said that was against the fair trading act. If they have the stock they have to sell it to you. So my Sister phoned, spoke to the Manager of the JB store who refused again to sell her one. When told he was breaking the fair trading law, he immediately said "Come down straight away and I will sell you one!!". So there you go. No discount though, but at least she has one. Sharon
