Naturally celebrating this milestone with the classic $4.40 Woolies Mudcake :)

  • Can you get bike mounts for these?

    • +7

It has the standard screw hole at the bottom for accessories including GoPro.

  • +1

    Waterproof?

  • Do they make a chest or back pack strap of some sort ?

    • +1

No but it'll work with any GoPro or compatible accessories.

  • +2

Thanks Clear for the support & love all the time(・ε・`)

  • Does it have to be attached to a Mi account before it becomes useful?

    • +3

Not at all. Seabird are funded by Xiaomi and the app is independent of the Mi Home app.

      • +1

Thanks Clear for the support, you really have sold me.
Just added this to my 'To buy list' :).

  • Hows the stabilization compare to the Hero7 black?

    • +1

looks decent enough according to this review

      • +1

For an even smoother experience use it with a gimbal ;) The Hohem iSteady Pro is the most budget one you can get for around ~$120

        • I strap this to my body for recording mostly hikes so gimbal is not an option. Plus the extra hassle of having 2x things to charge/buy spare batteries/switching them out mid walk, no go.

          • @knobbs: There are wearable gimbals like the Evo SS and FeiyuTech WG2 though that would be an extra hassle for you it seems.

        • According to the review I posted the battery lasts about an hour when recording in 1080p but he did mention the screen was on. Can you turn the screen off when recording as I would use this during rides which can last 2-2.5 hours

          • +2

@funk44: The screen can be off while recording as seen here

            • +1

@Clear: Thank you, I appreciate the prompt response

        • Will this be compatible with zhiyun gimbal smooth q ?

          • @TheTeamRanger: If I'm not mistaken that's a phone gimbal and probably needs an adaptor.

      • +1

I do love my Xiaomi so if it does come close to the hero7 would pick this up straight away. Thanks for the link

  • +2

    Congrats Clear!

  • What’s the difference between this and the Mijia?

    • +2

I assume you mean the Mijia 4K Action Camera? I haven't seen any comparison videos yet but based on specifications alone the Seabird 4K features a 13MP Sony Sensor, newer processor, smaller dimensions and weighs less. While the Mijia 4K has an 8MP Sony Sensor, older processor and a larger 1450mAh battery.

      • Bigger individual pixel size on the older Mijia 4K at 1.62 versus 1.12 on the Seabird, so will capture more detail (less noise) on the older Mijia.

        • so mijia will have clearer videos than this?

          • @sd: Yes it will, not by a big margin but it technically will

  • Any one have any idea how long postage would likely take with Direct line express?

    • It's quoted as being 5-8 business days with processing of 2-7 days. Typically in my experience with AU Direct Line shipping I get my orders 1-2 weeks verses the 3-4 weeks with standard China Airmail.

  • The delivery is fast takes up to 5 days to process once this is done I got mine in 5 business days, for the money its great
this one has EIS for 4K the Mijia is only on 1080p but the Mijia is better in low light. Reskull on youtube does a great review.
The camera is very light in weight.

  • +2

It's a + from me, just for the way you're replying to people questions.

    • +2

Thanks :) I've been doing the same since day 1 four years ago.

      • +10

I can only give you one +, stop milking it.

        • i'll take it from here

          +1 from me

  • Great price for a good action cam. Even records in h.265.
One let down however is that it doesn't do date/time stamps on videos

  • +1

Can you make home video easily with this

  • Really makes you wonder how much you're paying in marketing costs for some brands when Xiaomi can make something similar so much cheaper

  • Does this come with a waterproof case like the Gopro - or is it an extra (and how much?)

  • Hi, can this be used as a video baby monitor?

  • xiaomi very good to use~~~ and price acceptable

  • bought one, thanks Op!

  • I'd like to get a camera on my pushbike helmet. Anyone know of a good mount for this camera?

  • +1

Does this fit in a GoPro hero 3+ case?

    • If they're the same dimensions then possibly but I doubt it.

  • Holy crap. I was already in the market for a Xiaomi Yi, but a Xiaomi Seabird for $100 ? That's even more awesome. The best price I can get on these from AliExpress is over $200. This is a STEAL ! Ordered one immediately.

    • +1

Your comment sounds a little fishy. OP's regular price without coupon is only AU $110

      AU $109.18 delivered from AliExpress

      • +1

$120.09 AU with GST included ;) But yes quite less than $200!

        • Yep thanks, forgot GST. More cynical folk on here may be thinking the 66% price inflation from a member who joined days ago may not have been an accident.

          • @OzBragain: Definitely not someone from Geek and would be picked up easily by the mods if it was 😉

        • Actually I only pride checked the seabird briefly because I had been in the market for a Yi instead. At the time when I posted this comment, the top listing in my AliExpress feed was (and still is) $252.27 for this product. After you pointing it out, I can see there are some other listings much closer to $100. I'm not sure if their prices dropped or if they somehow got lost in my search due to keyword choice, but there are numerous > $200 listings for this production AliExpress right now and you can go confirm this. To the cynical losers who are making accusations based on my account's age all I can say is go suck a tailpipe, doubters. I have used ozbargain for ages but I only created an account to make this moment because I was genuinely excited by this deal. I am not affiliated with geekbuying or any other company on this site and while I can see that this site is largely a "get paid to promote" site, I am not involved in that in any way. I bought this product because I wanted it and believed it to be good deal and created an account to express that. I don't give a rat's ass what you haters believe because I know I'm not lying. Thanks for you warm welcome to the site you dicks.

Ease up tiger! You were called out for a dodgy looking comment and five days later claim it was just due to poor research. That's okay, we all make mistakes. Suck it up and move on…maybe tone down the tough guy agro talk there too champ.

This claim is intriguing…albeit a little confusing.

I only created an account to make this moment because I was genuinely excited by this deal

You created an account 2 days before this deal was posted. Could I please borrow your time machine?

  • Thank you! Was looking for something like that after I sold my old Xiaomi Yi recently.

  • Expired. Sad face.

  • Has anyone received theirs?

    • Which shipping method did you use?

      • Australia Direct Line
When Tracking the item it says:
Delivered - Left in a safe place last Friday, but I haven't received it.

        • Have you contacted Auspost?

          • @Clear: found it, it was delivered to the wrong level in the building I work at

            • @ribenaboy: Good that's a relief. Out of curiosity did you receive a text message from Auspost giving you the choice of where it will be delivered?

              • @Clear: This is what I received last Thursday
AusPost: GEEKBUY INTERNATIONAL E-COM delivery due tomorrow Friday 08 Feb 2019. If not home we'll leave it in a safe place. See: LINK TO MY TRACK ITEM

    • Mine was shipped to Darwin on 29/01 and still waiting. Using Australia Direct Line as suggested.

    • Today. Sydney.

  • Seems too hard to find a case or spare batteries for these things. You can get a case with waterproof handle for $40 from a few places, but don't need the handle. Clear's Aliexpress link posted earlier for a case is dead.

    • Not to worry! GeekBuying are now stocking Seabird accessories. My intention is to offer a deal when GeekBuying return from CNY next week.

  • For those who purchased the Seabird and need a Waterproof case you can grab one here :)

    • Still waiting for the camera to arrive.. The most recent update from AusPost is "Shipping information approved by Australia Post" by 1 February, and no update until now.

      • Update.

Finally got this today.. Took around 3 weeks total.. Not bad.

  • Any battery charger recommendations?
