Nsw only by the looks :( :( great price! Would've grabbed it if delivered to Vic.

Is it just me or is that a crazy good price for a 70 inch HDR 10 4K panel?

I was looking at the tcl 65 x4us qled but damn this cheap

    • +2

I had that tcl and would advise against it. Although it was a pretty nice TV we had several problems with it. Ended up taking it back after a couple of months and went with a Samsung q6 which is much better imo.

      • Thanks for the advice - what specifically was the issue - software or hardware? I’ve heard the software can be a bit crap but thought with updates it may get better

        • +2

First thing we had was that it turned itself on at 3am and scared the shit out of us haha. Did that a few times. Hdmi ports wouldn't work properly. Fast turn on wouldn't work and so it took literally almost a minute to start up.

Spoke to their customer care which pretty much said reset it and you'll be right but it didn't work.

          • @timthetoolman: Haha that would’ve been scary - poltergeist!

Sounds very odd, reviews are generally really good for it - I was just keen on the built in Harmon Kardon speakers in particular as we wouldn’t do any external spundbars.

The q6 is a fair few more $$$ isn’t it? How does the picture compare?

            • +2

@Hoju: The speaker was a bonus and they are pretty decent but we have a soundbar so it's not a big deal.
I think we got the tcl for around 2k then upgraded to the q6 for 2200 and a bit with a price match a while ago from TGG.

Picture is good, I'm happy with it. But it's the build quality and its just a very smooth tv to use and really easy. Worth the extra money I'd say.

              • @timthetoolman: Thanks for that. I was thinking with the tcl at around $1400 now with 20% off eBay it seemed a good deal, but there seem to be so many good deals now!

          • @timthetoolman: I bet it was espionage.
Are you working for government by any chance?

  • Do they allow click and collect?

    • Yes they do. I will update the post.

    • You better pay for delivery as it is very easy to break.

Couldn't hold it at this price. Did a bit of reading regarding the panel, apparently it's VA panel not IPS (meaning even better contrast and viewing angles). And it's edge lit with no local dimming. (so expect white bleeding around edges and not so great white black separation across the frame). HDR isn't as impressive as other high end models but hey, at this price you can't really complain. Everything else seems pretty decent, excellent deal at this price. I just wanted to share what I've read before pulling the trigger.

    • +5

      VA is better for contrast.

IPS is better for viewing angles and colour accuracy.

If you are sitting in your couch, VA doesn't really matter.

      • -1

I stand corrected. VA for better contrast but IPS still has better viewing angles.

      • +1

You sit inside your couch? ….. ;P

          Only the comfiest place.

      Thanks for the research

  • This model or Samsung NU7100? Any suggestions?

    • I puled the trigger and purchased this.
      Cannot beat the price.
Samsung is larger but ks also $400 more.
Is it better than lg i have no idea, probably on par in same sort of bracket

This. 70" 4K LG TV at this price is insane.

  • +2

LG’s Customer service sucks! Check their reviews. They always find a reason to void your warranty and they are rude.

    • +2

      Is anyone actually good?

      • +1

Yes, SAMSUNG customer service is pretty good. I always had a pleasant experience with them. LG is the worst and you will get that only when you experience that

        • Good to know. I'm currently looking to replace my 10.5 year old Samsung. It developed vertical lines a week after warranty (didn't know my ACL rights back in 2011)

Was gonna avoid Samsung because of that but I think that would be misguided

    • Goldstar is not exactly a premium brand you would expect good customer support from.

Is it worth for this price?

I had a terrible experience with TGG and LG.Bought the same model from TGG eBay in December. After assembly standing on the side of the TV, the panel is visibly twisted to RHS top corner. Sent all photos to TGG Moorabbin store and checked the sample in the store. The panel is perfectly flat.Sales manager said can't do refund until LG accredited technician assesses it and deemed to be faulty. If not faulty, I had to pay for the technician.

Took over 3wks after numerous emails and phone calls to finally get a technician(3rd party) to come down and have a look. It took him less than 2mins to conclude that the TV is faulty from the box. He said honestly I don't know why I am here. The panel is clearly twisted from the photos. Oh, by the way, one occasion when I was asking about my rights to get a full refund, I was told by the TGG Moorabbin store that if you're not happy with the solution, contact ACCC.

I would have been happy with the TV.It might be just a bad luck that I got a faulty unit. Viewing angle is definitely a plus. Black is not that deep, especially so in a very bright room. The color could be better, again it's an entry level and for the price, no complaints.I can't say the same about TGG Moorabbin store and LG. The customer services they provided is literally none.

If anyone purchases this and stands on the RHS of the TV thinking this panel looks a bit weird, don't need to go to Specsavers, you're probably right!

    • I have this problem as well and wasn't sure whether it was the nature of the TV or not (so wasn't sure whether it was a 'problem' or not).

Didn't have viewing problems and the angle was fine from where I sit, so didn't bother investigating further. Got the TV from TGG back in December as well. Now after reading about the trouble you went through, I am hesitant to go through the same process.

      • I thought it was just one-time bad luck, as I haven't seen any similar issues among replies under several posts. It doesn't look nice from the RHS and it's quite noticeable. Now you know it's faulty out of box and you can get a full refund if you want to.

By the way, is yours twisting to RHS top corner as well?

    • TGG give HN a run for dodgy post purchase issues.

  • Wow amazing price for a massive tv!

  • Might have to wait for a 82” under $2k before I upgrade. ;-)

  • Any 90-110” on the horizon ?

Went to harvey norman to actually have a look at the demo unit of this exact model (70") which has been conveniently placed side by side with an OLED TV (65"). I played with settings a bit increasing & decreasing contrast, saturation etc (while comparing picture quality with the OLED TV adjacent to it). I could not fault the unit. It is incredible value for money, image quality is amazingly good. When you look straight in to it, it's almost similar to OLED (OLED of course had punchier colours and contrast to it), even at angles this TV was pretty decent (much better than the samsung I've got at home). One thing I noted is that how big is 70" is compared to 65" model. IMHO it's great value for money. I am glad I bought one (by the way, they confirmed 'ready to pick up' while I am typing this.)

    • How big the box?

  • How is this in comparison with?

It's the same TV, this is just a lower price.

  • 29 sold
    0 available!

    • That's because you aren't in Sydney. Still in stock in Sydney..

  • Sweet deal for NSW guys..I asked the question from binglee for Melbourne and here is the response ""Currently for larger items such as tvs on our eBay page, it is only available for delivery within NSW Sydney metro area or near one of our local stores, our melbourne warehouse will not currently have that product in stock so it is not available for delivery or pick up there"

    • It's a shame however you can start to see that the larger TV's are becoming way cheaper.
It is a matter of time we will see another similar post from our fellow ozbarginer' with another great deal that will deliver to Vic
      Cheers

  • I took the plunge and just picked mine up from Bing Lee. They were selling out everywhere so I had to go to Haymarket in the CBD.
