Private Villa with a Pool - 8/10 Nights at Adults-Only Beyond Resort Khaolak, Thailand $2199/$2749 @ Cudo

740

Since my last post about Maldives had some interest, I was digging around for some holiday deals and this seemed to be worthy of a post.

Inclusions are for 2 people.

You may get hotels at a cheaper price than this all over Thailand. But for a hotel/resort of this kind, here are my reasons on why this is worthy of a post:

  • Agoda (cheapest by online search) has this same room at $798 per night (before any cashbacks or coupon codes), making it ~6350 for 8 nights with free breakfast or ~ 7950 for 10 nights. That makes this deal roughly 1/3rd of the price you can find online elsewhere.

  • Tripadvisor rates it at 4.5. Overall reviews on the internet are good.

  • Adults only. Apologies in advance for the families with kids.

Now, if that doesn't interest you, here is more add on's to the advertised price:

  • Return airport transfers
  • A lavish Royal Thai dinner at Siam Thai Restaurant
  • Four blissful 30-minute Thai massage per person at the onsite Kanda Spa
  • Daily-replenished, in-room refreshments including beers and soft drinks
  • In-room coffee machine with complimentary capsules
  • 20% discount on services at the blissful Kanda Spa
  • 10% discount on Food & Beverage across the resort

Decadent Dining:

  • Delicious daily buffet breakfast served at Beyond Café with an array of Western and Thai favourites
  • Two exotic buffet dinners at the open-air, waterfront Beach Bar and Restaurant including exciting theme nights like traditional Thai night, beachside BBQs, Hawaiian nights with fresh seafood and more
  • A daily cocktail or beer per person at the stylish Beach Bar and Restaurant
  • An exclusive invite to the resort’s management cocktail event, where you will meet the resort’s managers and indulge in free-flow drinks and delicious canapes
  • A hands-on mini Thai cooking class followed by lunch: learn all the secrets of the resort’s Chefs as they teach you the art of Thai cuisine

Don't forget 5.6% cashback from Cashrewards

The Premier Villa is also of good value for 8/10 nights at $1199/1499 with Agoda going over $400 per night making it roughly $3200/$4000.

Adults Only hey. Shame it's not in Bangkok then

  • +10

i know its slightly off tangent, but for comparison (for values sake), my mate just spent $250 for a MONTH'S rent at an apartment with a pool near bangkok.

    • +3

How do they define apartment and pool?

A shanty room and a kids inflatable pool?

      • Furnished apartment and standard apartment building swimming pool

    • did old mate use air bnb or a different site?

      • +4

No idea. Thai wife maybe helped find a place online

      • Since they rented for 1 month, I would suggest that the absolute best value you would get, would be through real estate agent (or similar) over there. Ie. Rent from the same places the locals there would rent from.
$250 AUD per month, for small appartment, sounds about right (overpriced even) considering the lower wages there.

    • Near bangkok or in bangkok. Plenty of sub par condos around.

      • Near

        • It would be a long way BTS. Bangkok has gotten quite expensive in recent years which is exacerbated by falling AUD. Tough to find anything under 600 to 800 in a well located condo on a month to month lease that has pool and gym.

          • @Bullion78: yea i think it was about an hour from city centre, actually in the next city over

    • +1

Hear stories like this all the time, never seen a receipt, photos or online listing; just the story.

      • +5

yeh lol. i bet the $250 included airfare and breakfasts

    • At that price it would have very few western comforts.

  • +9

"A hands-on mini Thai cooking class"

The PC term is little person or short stature.

    • -5

They don't even mention which breed of dog you'll be using.

      • +19

That joke is in paw taste.

      • -2

        LOL! Btw nice av brah

      • Barking mad to be making such a joke.

For what its worth i stayed at their (beyond) resort just north of Krabi and that one was very nice. Based on that id say this is quite a good price especially with the inclusions. I have been to Khao lak twice (stayed elsewhere), its a great area but quiet. Kinda place u go to relax and explore. This resort is up the coast 15mins from town center too so need a scooter for sure.

I've just booked my third visit to Beyond Khao Lak using these deals (FWIW I booked via LuxuryEscapes but the price is the same) - fantastic place, really relaxing and spectacular value. Highly recommend for anybody considering jumping on this deal.

    • +6

You certainly don't have any idea about the value proposition of this deal irrespective of the facts laid out in front of you mate.

    • +1

      bangkok is cheap

    • +1

And do you make it a habit of having a whinge about something in every one of my travel posts :)

  • +2

Exactly the same deal exists on Luxury Escapes but you get a much better Cashback through Cudo, mental note to self about this as I was about to pull trigger on a deal over on Luxury Escapes which is also on Cudo.

    • +2

Saw that too. Solely used cudo for slightly better cashback. Scoopon, cudo and luxury escapes are all the same company

      • +1

Unless the buyer needs frequent flyer points then luxury escapes wins!

  • +7

Won't be able to take advantage of this one due to recently becoming a Dad but appreciate the post mate, keep them up next time you find a good deal :)

    • +4

Welcome to Fatherhood, Brad the Dad.
Fatherhood doesn’t stop you doing the Cudo Koh Samui deal. The Passage Villas take 3.

Thanks mate, all going well so far, she'll be 8 weeks old on Thursday :)

  • Certainly looks luxurious and is good value for $100 per night and with all the inclusions.
However, are you a captive of the resort ? Is it easy to get to the local restaurants and markets etc to keep costs down ?
Also, it would probably be worth upgrading to a beachfront villa. If you got placed in a villa near the front of the hotel, it would be a long hot walk down the garden paths each day to get to the beach/pool/restaurant and back.
Good forbid you forget something and have to go back to your villa.
    But such 1st world problems.
Once stayed at the magnificent Dustin Thani Laguna Bang Tao, Laguna is a cluster of luxury hotels but it’s difficult getting out to be with the locals. Concierge control the taxis (mafia) and encourage taking the shuttle buses to neighboring resorts if “going out”
It’s handy knowing a private driver you can call on to “take you out” for day trips or to restaurants. You can find them on TripAdvisor forums.

      • You are not captive of the resort. In fact last time I went the restaurant next door (literally walk down to the beach and walk past the border wall) was fantastic value cocktails and really good food. It was called "Pa Son" but the Facebook page is now "Pam's Restaurant and Bar." There's also a shuttle (don't remember how much) to the town which also has a good selection of places.
      • Yes, the only "problem" with the private pool (Palm Elite?) villas is that there's a slightly long walk to get from the back of the resort to the restaurants and pools / beach. Personally I book the Palm Premier villas.
      • Great info.

Stayed at this resort last year around September, excellent place to stay, very luxurious, extremely friendly staff, private beach that seemed to always be cleaned compared to the rest of the beaches. The massive pool is pretty well maintained, some small cracks in tiles around the edges of the pool. Swim-up pool bar was my favourite part. Wide selection at the buffet breakfast too.

Only thing I would suggest is make sure you go in the non monsoon season, when I went about half the days was heavy rain, but on the sunny days it was amazing.

    • When would that be

  • +1

whats the demographic like at this villa. loud russian & american yobbos, or quiet adults looking to relax

    • u can't avoid the russians and yanks at khao lak.

    • Probably mostly bogans. Cheap 'luxury' resort style accommodation in third world countries is always to going to be full of the lower class.

      • +6

So it's pretty much a real life OzB comments section?

        • +3

          yes.
and they're fat too.. so exactly the same.

        • +1

i would be very dissapointed if they didnt use the ozbargain keyboard warrior word of choice: hyperbole!

  • +1

I agree with everything Beeawwb has said. Have been there twice on Luxury Escapes and have booked this year on Scoopon. Been in May and August. May better if you want to swim in the sea and maybe a bit better weather, but both are quite good off season times to go.
Quite a few Germans and English there in May, but we all had a good time.

I am also a Palm Villa Premier booker as they are nice and close to the pool, restaurant and beach.

    • I'm looking at booking for August. What's the weather like during this time?

  • So OCEANG would you go for the Palm Villa Premier 8 or 10 nights at 1149/1499❓
U dont recommend the pool villa because of its location to other facilities❓
Thanks for any feedback as keen to book this one ….. have been to khao Lak before, so are familiar with the location etc.
Sorry I couldnt PM you as you musnt have turned this on !!

  • reading some trip advisor reviews, they seem to mention that this place is really far away from anything, so your pretty much stuck at the resort and their restaurants. 10 nights of staying just in a resort, i would probably get bored after day 2

  • What's the scuba diving like around this area?

  • +1

Scuba no good around there, need to go out to islands.
