  • I'm wondering how good campaign is.

    • +9

      Its online only..

      • +1

        Cheers

    • +5

      There isn't one…

  • +2

So glad I sold the one that was bundled with my PS4, for $40 at the time.

  • +28

look up reviews, dont support this game. let it rot.

    • +2

Yeah reviews say this game is not up to standard with playing, I remember it received a very very low review score.

      • Or play it and form your own opinion.

        • +16

You have to purchase and support them to do that. Supporting this is a waste of money.

            • +4

@Ninternet: Well no, it's a fact that you have to purchase to get the game in this deal. Wait a while and you'll get it F2P though. It'll still be garbage but it'll be free garbage.

              • -3

@[Deactivated]: I'm just saying. The people I know that have played it have enjoyed it. Everyone I've heard say bad things about it have just gone off reviewer scores and popular opinion.

I haven't played it personally, but I'm not going to advise people against something I've never played

                • +10

@Ninternet: I preordered it, I played the beta and it was hot garbage. I'm a massive fan of fallout and I wasn't against it trying out a different direction. They just didn't put any effort in, it's a poorly made game that should have been scrapped or taken back to formula (like Nintendo just did with Metroid) instead they released it and sent it out into the wastelands to die.

                • +4

@Ninternet: I played it. It's utter garbage. The end.

                • +1

@Ninternet: Heroine is bad. Do you need to try 1st before advising it’s bad?

                  • -3

@AussieGargain: Comparing a known substance responsible for destroying lives to a video game that brings people joy regardless of popular opinion. Nice.

                    • @Ninternet: Who tf is negging this comment, the comparison is absurd. Although I've heard enough feedback to not go anywhere near this game.

                      • @sghetti: I've become aware that people in general (and for some reason it is very widespread throughout the gaming community) are more emotional than logical. I haven't stated an opinion, yet all my comments have been negged because people vote with how they feel rather than assessing things from a neutral perspective. But that's also why the gaming industry is so successful. They play off hype as a key marketing factor. Get people excited > people pre order or buy the game > people form an opinion based off a combination of the quality of the game and their own excitement and expectations > creates usually a lot of negativity as things don't meet each individual person's expectations regardless of how good or bad the product may actually be.

        • +1

That view would be fine.. if more companies actually offered trials or demos.

        • +3

I don't need to play something that I've watched other people play and struggle through and they've recommended giving this title a miss, I enjoyed FO4 but I will not be buying this game in its current state.

  • +16

Game is widely expected to go F2P in the next few months

    • Bethesda have said no to this.
      https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/www.gamespot.com/amp-article…
      RIP - rot in pieces

      • +3

It's expected to go FTP because lack of active players. Bethesda aren't just gonna admit it's gonna go F2P if it's still selling.

    • Pretty sure that's confusion around the DLC - it will be loaded with microtransactions (Bethesda already announced that last year). Bit of a weird model, but definitely expect a lot of "sales" like this on the base game to become as near to free as possible as players drop out.

Game is still basically in beta mode from what I've heard, constant crashes, only the worst bugs/issues fixed, it's likely to be months before it's any good. If it still has a player base by then I'll be surprised.

    • +1

It will be close to $5 AUD end of year guaranteed.. just a waiting game for now so play your pile of shame while you wait for another to add to it later.

  • +3

You couldn't pay me to waste my time on this broken shell of a game.

  • +3

Please. Do yourself a favour and don’t buy this game.

  • +3

Cdkeys have this for the PC at A$13.80, will drop to single digit fairly soon.

    • 12.39 now actually

      • lol at this rate they will be paying us in some form of digital content just to keep us reeled in

        • There no way this isn't going free to play they can deny it all they want but they wanted to keep people playing for years and promised years of content the only way that will be possible is to make it free and charge for cosmetics because at $12 per copy you're barely keeping the servers running for the year

  • +6

It’s Bethesda’s biggest and most ambious game to date.

Involved Arcane and six other studios in a huge collaborative effort to release this epic game.

Todd Howard says “it just works!”

Has a world 16 times more detailed and 16 times bigger than Fallout 4, with much more contents

    Like magic in motion.

    GOTY contender no doubt

    • Lol

    • We know it's you Todd.

    • +2

Would you bet 500 atoms on this….. :P Just want to canvas some opinions on the game, I hear its a mixed bag.

    • I was my parents most biggest and ambitious project to date.. multiple times the size of my sister's raised collaboratively by my whole family and more.. and look at me now.. family pride and joy no doubt.. /s

  • +4

    Overpriced.

    • You can get it for like 12 bucks on cdkeys for pc, so even ignoring that the game is bad it is still not the cheapest, so yes… overpriced.

      • +2

        $12 is still over priced

  • +1

It's got a metacritic score of 53 let that sink in a little with a user score of 2.5

It's a dumpster fire wait.for it to be free to play it's inevitable.

  • +1

yeah definitely not worth it. So broken

    • I wonder if somebody is trying to reverse engineer and fix it which means it should be playable in 30 years once they figure out how to open it.

      • There's no need. It has the same engine as Fallout 4, with a few tweaks to enable the instanced online servers.

        https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout76/mods/

A handful of things won't work with mods, but there's a lot out there. Injection of DLL's or assets might not work (for obvious reasons…) but there's at least 150+ now.

Todd admits that Fo76 = Fallout 4 multiplayer during the Making of Fo76 mini-documentary on youtube.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gi8PTAJ2Hjs

The "six studio" collaboration, was that they added Quake Netcode from iD's multiplayer games to build the server and instanced world multiplayer services for Fo76, and bought pandemic / battlecry studios staff into the 76 project/ concept, and built a full game on the concept of a multiplayer expansion, then made it into a different game.

They started just after Fallout 4's launch in 2014/2015. Zenimax, who owns Bethesda, actually have an MMO already, Elder Scrolls Online. So it's not obvious that they couldn't handle large servers, but it's their reliance on Creation Engine that has caused significant issues with game-breaking bugs.

During the beta, they had Fallout 4 mods working before launch, and along with a host of other problems during launch, they hotfixed the API's so that people couldn't load significant mods in the Fo76 client.

There's ways to inject exploits and cheats, but it can be detected. Their current anti-cheat just scans for installed cheat programs.

There's also item dupes and spawning of stat boost items like bobble head collectibles, because the game was never designed to be online at its core.

not all of the exploits are detectable, it seems, because you can have a dummy account trade to other players, and they become 'laundered' due to a lack of transaction logging or Customer Service account tools to monitor for trades or undo them.

Expect it to miraculously go Free to Play this year, despite what Todd/Bethesda says. Their sales have tanked.

        • Even if it is a clone it is a clone mess so someone will have to do some repairs and cleaning to get it working as preferred/expected.

Filter out the big bad mistakes and do some optimizations to get it to where it should be.
