Are you planning upcoming flights on Virgin Australia? Velocity Frequent Flyer has released their first Double Status Credit offer of 2019!
EDIT: The offer landing page has now been updated. To qualify for the offer, you need to:

An Eligible Flight is any Virgin Australia marketed and operated flight for travel between 1 February 2019 and 28 December 2019 inclusive.
Only flights and fare classes that normally earn Status Credits are eligible for earn on this promotion.
Further information is available via the offer page.
The timing of this offer is interesting, with Qantas often releasing a double status credit in late January / early February - could a Qantas DSC offer be looming also?š¤šæ

I wonder what the start date for eligible flights are? Already have flights booked for Feb 6 and Feb 8. I'm assuming it's Feb 12? :(
Not as yet, but note that Velocity generally requires you to register and then book to take advantage of a DSC offer. Flights already booked don't usually qualify (unless you can cancel them and rebook again).

Thanks, I was planning to book some flights so looks like Iāll wait a few days.
Booked two return trips for feb with one being business class just last week! š

Perfect for a status run, this should net about 1,000+ SC on the trip I had planned :D

I usually do a multileg trip to Raratonga with the SO. I turn it into a short holiday and stay for 5-7 nights.
I'm aiming to gift Platinum to a retired relative for a few years :D
It's the cheapest $/SC I can find - works out to about $1,800 for 1,000 SC or $1.80 / SC.
Here's two more guides on other routes:

best fare I can find from Sydney is ~$2,100 return (for 840 SC). Nice job!

Wow nice one! This only works during the double status promo right?
It will happen soon in Feb or Mar, Qantas usually has the double credit status in the first quarter of the year.
4-month into my current qantas cycle and already renewed my WP stat, might give Virgin a go, just confirming Virgin status unlocks Star Alliance (SQ, BR, NZ, etc) also?
- +1 vote
Nope, Virgin isn't part of Star Alliance.
They are only partners with the following airlines: https://www.virginaustralia.com/au/en/experience/airline-par...

Virgin isn't apart of an alliance. The lounge access and perks are all independently organised dependant on the routes etc. and nicknamed the roulette… Never know what you're getting
"In two days, we're going to help you soar twice as fast"
Did Virgin buy the last remaining concord's in show rooms around the world? Wow, wonder if they'll introduce new routes or just put them on the golden triangle :P
Yesss I've got a ton of flights to book
Edit: gonna be annoyed if there are good deals for the dates I'm looking for in this afternoon's happy hour though š¤£
Has anyone figured out a way to combine this with AIA Vitality Platinum discount for a status run? SYD-MEL-AKL-RAR isn't eligible for the discount. There could be an awesome deal here.
Fares need to be booked via VA website directly. Offer wonāt work with third party offers or sites
Even though AIA Vitality flights are booked through the VA website? (comes up as fly.virginaustralia.com when I go to book)

Anyone knows, if be booked via agency (such as travel agent), still can get Double Velocity Status Credits or NOT?

For flights as long as they add your FF number to the booking it will usually count. I've found hotels are less likely to give you points on their reward programs though.

does anyone have a definitive answer on this? Just about to book flights but it's cheaper through a travel agent as compared to the Virgin Australia website.
Virgin HQ is BNE so they always run to AEST. Expect 1am.
But as often happens with these things might not work to early morning…
Offer is now live.

Works for my and my wife's accounts, but not my daughters.
Just says
"Unfortunately you are not eligible for this promotion.
We look forward to bringing you an exclusive offer soon."I read in the comments on velocity FB post that this is due to an error and is being worked on, as a couple of other people have raised this issue.
To be eligible for the Double Status Credits promotion you must (1) Activate this offer through the activation link between 12.01am AEST 1 February 2019 and 11.59pm 12 February 2019 inclusive (Promotion Period); (2) book an Eligible Flight during the Promotion Period; and 3) enter a valid Velocity membership number at the time of booking.
An Eligible Flight is any Virgin Australia marketed and operated flight for travel between 1 February 2019 and 28 December 2019 inclusive.Sounds like only flights booked from today onward are eligible. Could be worth arguing to VA to try and get the bonus after I fly, as a good will gesture?
P.S. my fares are non-refundable.
0% chance you will get double SC as a "goodwill gesture". Would suggest cancelling and rebooking if it is that important

Couple of these worked: https://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/virgin-australia-...
Also, I previously booked a cheap flights on points. Can I cancel and get the points back? Anyone know? (then rebook for double SCs obviously)
have done a search but cant find answer to this specific question.
taI just called Velocity to ask if:
1) I have to book via VA website (instead of third party)
2) it can be a VA ticket but operated by codeshare airline (SQ or Etihad)He sounded slightly unsure but said it HAS to be booked via VA website, and solely for VA operated flights, not codeshared. Anyone know if he's right? Just want to be sure before I book tickets.
Terms don't say it needs to be booked through the Virgin website it just says "book and Eligible Flight during the Promotion Period"
To be eligible for the Double Status Credits promotion you must (1) Activate this offer through the activation link contained in this email between 12.01am AEST 1 February 2019 and 11.59pm 12 February 2019 inclusive (Promotion Period); (2) book an Eligible Flight during the Promotion Period; and 3) enter a valid Velocity membership number at the time of booking.

Only flights and fare classes that normally earn Status Credits are eligible for earn on this promotion. (http://experience.velocityfrequentflyer.com/the-basics/statu...) Changes to existing bookings made prior to qualifying period are not eligible to earn on this promotion.
Bonus Status Credits will be applied to the originally purchased fare class and any upgrades will not attract extra Status Credits. This offer cannot be used in conjunction with another bonus status credit offer by Velocity Frequent Flyer or Virgin Australia.thank you so much this article was very helpful! way better than what velocity call centres could explain
Any suggestion on platinum status run? Other than what has mentioned on AFF article?
Just had an idea to use my Amex travel credit to pay for a portion of a business class flight to stack up the status credits. This article (https://www.pointhacks.com.au/how-amex-travel-credit-works/) says that you still earn status with using Amex travel credit, but a phone call to Velocity says itās not eligible for the double status offer. Thoughts? I feel like they are just trying to be on the safer side by saying no to anything, but if it works, itās a bonus!

I got the recent double points on an Amex travel credit booking, so this will probably work for you.
Kids can now get their accounts activted for the double points (it was erroring - working now)
Do you guys know if it will work on multiple trips or just one trip?
It should work on multiple trips as long as you book it by 12 Feb.
And travel dates have to be "between 1 February 2019 and 28 December 2019 inclusive".
