Just got an email from PlayStation with a code to claim 3 free months of Stan. The code acts as a free three month trial of the Stan Standard Plan for new customers/accounts, and as a free upgrade from Standard to Premium for current Stan customers (i.e. pay $14 for premium instead of $17).

"To say thanks for being a PlayStation Plus member and for electing to receive information about PlayStation products and services, you can now get 3 months of Stan on us. Already have Stan? Get an upgrade to Premium."

Terms and Conditions here, but basically:

1) You need to opt-in to information about PlayStation products and services, i.e. Go to https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com > Notification Settings > Check "Yes, I would like to receive personalised info and offers related to Playstation and Sony.

2) You need to have an active 3 or 12 month PlayStation Plus membership, OR purchase a '3 Month Membership + 3 Months Stan' or '12 Month Membership + 3 Months Stan' from the PlayStation Store between 1 February 2019 and 28 February 2019 (deal doesn't seem to be live yet as of time of posting).

3) Cross your fingers you get an email from Sony with a code! For the last free Netflix promotion, I didn't receive an email but was able to live chat to PlayStation Support for a code but YMMV.

Also worth noting the promo won't work on accounts created via iTunes, and only one code can be redeemed per account. The subscription will automatically renew at the end of the three months unless cancelled.

Stan 3 Month Promo Code must be redeemed by 14 March 2019.

        I had the same problem. Had 3 months free from eBay Plus, and even though I used a different email address, it wouldn't give me the free trial again until I tried it in a different browser, with a different email address and different credit card (just so it verifies… it didn't actually take any money like it said it would).

        That worked.

        Just remember to cancel the membership straight away, it still remains active for the full 3 months, it just saves you from having to remember to do it later or accidentally being charged $14 if you forget.

      No, according to Stan "If you are still in your trial period your subscription will end immediately."

      Best to set a calendar reminder for yourself to cancel a day or two before.

        I cancelled it immediately after joining. It says this under Manage Account…

        "You have requested to cancel your subscription, which will take effect on 02/05/2019".

        So, it remains active until that date.

      Nah don't register just yet, when you have your code go to the redeem page, type in your voucher code and email below, and you'll be prompted to register as a new account with three months.

        cool got it, I was trying to do it from the playstation app but you have to do it from the email they send you. Click on the "get stan now" link in the email and follow the prompts. Then login into your playstation Stan app with the login details and activate the device.

    I once had a 3 month code that wouldn’t work on my Playstation 4. I tried for hours to get it to work but it never did. Stan were no help. JB Hi-Fi then sent me a new code and that too didn’t work. I wonder if Stan have their $hit together enough that their codes actually work now? Or will I just be wasting more time?

      With Stan it’s all wasted time. I have selected for the HD plan and expected to have 1080p, nope just 720. They blame it on the broadband supplier even when I told them with Netflix and Youtube I have crisp 1080p. Thay just give generic answers.

      I had somewhat of a similar issue first time I ever tried to use a Stan code…..it just wouldn't work. That was 3 years ago, and I have never been bothered to try again. Stan stinks and netflix is so much better.

      I'm 99% sure that it's either the three months OR one month trial. So basically on the link you enter the promo code and an email address, then if it sees the email isn't linked to any existing account it'll let you sign up a new account with three months instead of one.

    I didn’t get a code either. Not too devastated though. Stan’s streaming quality is greatly inferior to Netflix. Had it for a few weeks and had to cancel as every single show would pause to buffer, something I’ve had happen with Netflix maybe twice over the two years I’ve had it.

      I had the same issue on an older TV that had an old version of the Stan app. The TV no longer updated apps.

      After I ran Stan on an Apple TV, Stan worked perfectly.

        Thanks for the troubleshooting tip. I did update the app when I first started using it to the latest version and still suffered the buffering issues unfortunately.

    Op are you sure there wasn't more to how you received the email. There looks to be an offer for 3 month free for PlayStation Plus members who do as you mentioned in settings, BUT also need to spend $30 on the PSN store, this could explain why you received the offer and not simply from changing the settings and other users have also received nothing.       It's definitely all there is, no spending requirement or anything. That link is for a 2015/16 promo (you can see the T&Cs at the bottom).

      As to why some people aren't getting the email though I have no idea, hope it's not targeted, it's only the second day of the promo so might still be coming. As I mentioned I didn't get a code for the previous Netflix promo last year even though I fulfilled all the conditions but just contacted support and they gave me one anyway :D

      One small but telling example is you cannot cancel a free trial before the trial ends and still continue access. Clearly a tactic to get you to forget to cancel so they can charge the $10

      I don't have US Netflix but I don't imagine Billions would not be on it, but it is on Stan. Stan has Disney and Showtime stuff, all the James Bond Films. Of the 3 streaming services in Autralia (Netflix, Stan and Amazon), it is my favourite. Personal opinion based on mine and my family taste.

    Good news. My current 3 month free trial that I received when I bought a new PS4 controller on Black Friday expires on 4/3 and the new season of Billions starts on 18/3. Almost perfect timing.
