expired 3 Months Free Stan Subscription for PlayStation Plus Members (New and Existing)

1460

Just got an email from PlayStation with a code to claim 3 free months of Stan. The code acts as a free three month trial of the Stan Standard Plan for new customers/accounts, and as a free upgrade from Standard to Premium for current Stan customers (i.e. pay $14 for premium instead of $17).

"To say thanks for being a PlayStation Plus member and for electing to receive information about PlayStation products and services, you can now get 3 months of Stan on us. Already have Stan? Get an upgrade to Premium."

Terms and Conditions here, but basically:

1) You need to opt-in to information about PlayStation products and services, i.e. Go to https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com > Notification Settings > Check "Yes, I would like to receive personalised info and offers related to Playstation and Sony.

2) You need to have an active 3 or 12 month PlayStation Plus membership, OR purchase a '3 Month Membership + 3 Months Stan' or '12 Month Membership + 3 Months Stan' from the PlayStation Store between 1 February 2019 and 28 February 2019 (deal doesn't seem to be live yet as of time of posting).

3) Cross your fingers you get an email from Sony with a code! For the last free Netflix promotion, I didn't receive an email but was able to live chat to PlayStation Support for a code but YMMV.

Also worth noting the promo won't work on accounts created via iTunes, and only one code can be redeemed per account. The subscription will automatically renew at the end of the three months unless cancelled.

Stan 3 Month Promo Code must be redeemed by 14 March 2019.

Does this offer apply for customers who have previously redeemed a free Stan trial?

    • +5 votes

Does not work - tried to apply it to my account that got 3 months free from eBay Plus promo, and it said the code was for new accounts only.

      • +5 votes

just open a new account then

      •

I had the same problem. Had 3 months free from eBay Plus, and even though I used a different email address, it wouldn't give me the free trial again until I tried it in a different browser, with a different email address and different credit card (just so it verifies… it didn't actually take any money like it said it would).

        That worked.

Just remember to cancel the membership straight away, it still remains active for the full 3 months, it just saves you from having to remember to do it later or accidentally being charged $14 if you forget.

I was wondering why I never received these offers then noticed I had emails set to off in notifcations.

    •

I never get the ebay ones… i’ve turned it all on, still nuthin. I got this PSN Stan however.

  •

Yeah had to make a new account also.

  •

    Perfect.

Will make a new account once my current 3months trial ends.

  •

Will it continue for the 3 months if you cancel the auto-renewal straight after activating the code??

  •

My plus ran out a week ago and I recieved this anyway.

  •

can i start 30 days free trial n then use this code too?

  •

so how does this work? do I start the 1 month free then enter a code somewhere for the 3 months, I have never used stan before

    • +1 vote

Nah don't register just yet, when you have your code go to the redeem page, type in your voucher code and email below, and you'll be prompted to register as a new account with three months.

      •

cool got it, I was trying to do it from the playstation app but you have to do it from the email they send you. Click on the "get stan now" link in the email and follow the prompts. Then login into your playstation Stan app with the login details and activate the device.

  •

Got mine this morning, was a nice little unexpected bonus.

  • +1 vote

What if I already have stan premium?

  • +6 votes

See, I've never gotten playstation promo emails but my settings are set to recieve them…

    •

      Me too.
I put Stan and PSN in the same box for crappy customer service when it comes to these offers.
It's not worth the hassle in the end!

  •

Been after a 3 month Stan code for a while now. Posted in classifieds a few times. If anyone can get a code which they do not need, can you please message me?

  • +1 vote

I once had a 3 month code that wouldn’t work on my Playstation 4. I tried for hours to get it to work but it never did. Stan were no help. JB Hi-Fi then sent me a new code and that too didn’t work. I wonder if Stan have their $hit together enough that their codes actually work now? Or will I just be wasting more time?

    • +1 vote

With Stan it’s all wasted time. I have selected for the HD plan and expected to have 1080p, nope just 720. They blame it on the broadband supplier even when I told them with Netflix and Youtube I have crisp 1080p. Thay just give generic answers.

      • +2 votes

Agreed, don't bother with their online help, they just reply with canned responses without actually looking into your issue.

    • +1 vote

I had somewhat of a similar issue first time I ever tried to use a Stan code…..it just wouldn't work. That was 3 years ago, and I have never been bothered to try again. Stan stinks and netflix is so much better.

If anyone has a free code they aren't going to use. Please PM me!

  • +1 vote

Yeah got the code. im on a trail already. ill wait till that ends, then use different email and use this 3 months. thanks for post.

  •

    no email :(

  •

Anyone not using their code feel free to PM me :)

  •

So if we start a new Stan account with the one month free, should we put this code in now and will it extend to four months, or put it in in a month's time near the end of the trial?

    •

I'm 99% sure that it's either the three months OR one month trial. So basically on the link you enter the promo code and an email address, then if it sees the email isn't linked to any existing account it'll let you sign up a new account with three months instead of one.

  •

no email, where can I go to take out my frustration?

  • -2 votes

since everyone is asking, i will love to have free code too if you are not using

  • +1 vote

    Didn't get an email either.

I never thought I'd be part of the #metoo movement… if anyone has a code they don't want, please PM me.

  • +1 vote

Didn't get the email. Might try to get one via live chat.

  •

FK sake, the amount of money I spent on the PlayStation Store you'd think they'd actually give me one of these offers one day. And yes, I do have email settings enabled.

    • +1 vote

Same. I never receive any emails from PlayStation except for receipts.
It’s been a known issue for some time apparently.

  • +1 vote

Won't work for me. I already have Stan premium. So much better than Netflix. When I try it says new subscribers only:

"BYO Internet, data and supported device. New Stan subscribers only. Limit one per customer. For full terms go to www.stan.com.au/ps-offer/terms"

Code for the first person in PSPLDQFVUCG4BY4Y Let me know if it worked.

    • +5 votes

Someone has already redeemed it. Seems like it worked. I'll say thank you on behalf of them.

  •

Anyone know where to contact live chat to get my code?

  • -1 vote

    Anyone got a spare code?

  •

I have had that box ticketed and I get absolutely nothing. No body at Sony that I have spoken to knows why. :(

  • -1 vote

If anyone has a spare code they aren't going to use. Please PM me. Many thanks!

  • +1 vote

Enjoy 3 months of Stan, not thanks to PlayStation Plus

  •

The cost of getting PSN three months doesn't really weight out against getting Stan for three months free.

  •

I didn’t get a code either. Not too devastated though. Stan’s streaming quality is greatly inferior to Netflix. Had it for a few weeks and had to cancel as every single show would pause to buffer, something I’ve had happen with Netflix maybe twice over the two years I’ve had it.

    • +1 vote

I had the same issue on an older TV that had an old version of the Stan app. The TV no longer updated apps.

After I ran Stan on an Apple TV, Stan worked perfectly.

      •

Thanks for the troubleshooting tip. I did update the app when I first started using it to the latest version and still suffered the buffering issues unfortunately.

  •

I would love a code if anyone has 1 they will not use. Thanks

  •

Anybody could spare a code please? Thank you!

Op are you sure there wasn't more to how you received the email. There looks to be an offer for 3 month free for PlayStation Plus members who do as you mentioned in settings, BUT also need to spend $30 on the PSN store, this could explain why you received the offer and not simply from changing the settings and other users have also received nothing. See link below, not sure if worth posting as a separate deal.

    https://www.playstation.com/en-au/sign-in-and-connect/stan-o...

    Start your trial
To receive the 3 months of Stan offer you need to ensure you're set to receive information on PlayStation products and services. On your console, head to:

Settings > PSN Account > Account Info > Communication preferences.
Select "YES" on PlayStation products and services if this hasn't been selected.
Head to PlayStation Store & spend $30 or more in one transaction.

Your Stan voucher code will be emailed to your SEN account within 7 days. To redeem the voucher,
    head to http://stan.com.au/ps-offer

If you are already a Stan subscriber or take up the standard 30 day trial you will be ineligible for this offer.

It's definitely all there is, no spending requirement or anything. That link is for a 2015/16 promo (you can see the T&Cs at the bottom).

As to why some people aren't getting the email though I have no idea, hope it's not targeted, it's only the second day of the promo so might still be coming. As I mentioned I didn't get a code for the previous Netflix promo last year even though I fulfilled all the conditions but just contacted support and they gave me one anyway :D

Is it just me or does Stan / Bigpond Movies / Foxtel remind other people of Gerry Harvey? Failed aussie business models that try their best to limit consumer choice and charge a mozza for it.

  •

Adding myself to the list of people asking for a code.

  •

Title is misleading, existing customers don't get 3 months free, its just an upgrade to premium.

  •

It’s a long shot, but I would also like anyone’s spare code. Thanks!

  •

Can't extend current subs, boo… I couldn't get the upgrade to premium either, just says "only applicable to new subs"!

  •

A code please haha let’s see

  • +1 vote

It’s a shit offer. Inactive membership so I’d be charged the standard rate but upgraded to premium. Someone else can use mine. First in, first served:

    PSPLRC3VFBJF66A2

    Cheers.

  •

I’m saving my codes so I should have free Stan for the next 2 years unless they cancel the 3 month free deals.

  •

Anyone with access to Netlix USA, that thinks Stan is worth having ? If so, what shows do you like on Stan (which aren't available via US netflix) ?
Most of the good stan content seems to be available.

    • +1 vote

Kidding is an excellent show, Jim Carey as a mentally unstable childrens television host

I don't have US Netflix but I don't imagine Billions would not be on it, but it is on Stan. Stan has Disney and Showtime stuff, all the James Bond Films. Of the 3 streaming services in Autralia (Netflix, Stan and Amazon), it is my favourite. Personal opinion based on mine and my family taste.

    • +1 vote

The best of Stan is Better Call Saul. The rest is ok mainly filler. Still better than Fuxtel

  •

Please pm me a code if anyone has a spare :)
