    MasterLock — The world’s No. 1 self-opening lock

That's lucky, because I am a lazy cat burglar.

Damn, bought two of the shelves yesterday! Good value at full price but a pain to put together!

    • +3

Yep, deadset pain to assemble. You get a bag with what feels like 400 bolts. Set aside a good hour to put the damn thing together. Avoid if you value your time above high school casual wages.

buy again and return the new ones with old receipt if you can be bothered to recoup that $8.10 lol!

      • Im pretty sure they would just refund you the difference instead of buying more to return !

    • I wonder if I can stack these together. 137cm is too short. I want it to go to the ceiling to maximise storage.

      • +1

Looking at the one I have, it definitely looks like you can stack them. However, you could only make it 1.5 times as tall with the parts you get in two boxes. Also I probably wouldn't recommend it as they have quite a bit of movement even as they are.

Will not be steady at that high

      • I have put together one and a half stacked up. It seems pretty stable but I haven't loaded anything heavy onto it.

        • 6 shelves?

  • +3

Avoid these damn shelves, they are the devil. Pay more for easy assemble no nuts and bolts ones.

I have loads of these ones from IKEA, much better, screws on each shelf corner:-

    https://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/80278579/

    • they don't take 50kg do they?

    • Ikea ones slightly smaller. 11cm shorter in length and 3.5cm shorter in width for each shelf

  • +2

Shelves are utter trash, would not recommend. Put more than a little bit of weight on them and they buckle, which destroys the integrity of the whole shelves.

Don't buy them, even at $10!

  • +2

These shelves are the worst. Can't hold much weight and an absolute PITA to put together.

Do yourself a favour and spend more on heavy duty ones when they're on sale.

  • I have the shelves, and they are okay for the price. However I only use them in a garden shed for light duty objects and given the relatively lower height, they suit a garden shed well. They are perfect where you don’t want to spend a little bit more on the MDF shelves.

Does the shelf has sharp edge? bought some shelf 2 years ago ( not sure if it's from bunnings), very sharp :(

    • +1

After putting them together the sharp edges are not exposed. But they do have some minor sharp edges mainly the 6 small brackets. No one got cut after putting 2 together.

  • Got 2 of the shelves and had loads of fun putting them together with the kids. The first one was challenging but the second one was a breeze.

Not sure why people are complaining about a $10 shelf. They are rubbish and I expected them to be rubbish. I cable tied both of them together side by side right next to the kitchen and they worked a treat storing items which were all over the place.

    • Screw them together to make them much more rigid.

Screw a piece of masonite/ply across the back to make the whole thing super rigid.

  • Sweated like a bullet assembling these shelves in 40 degree weather. I would recommend the IKEA $9.99 HYLLIS if you're looking for a similar shelf. It's a tat bit smaller in size but the finishing looks nicer for me and the edges are not as sharp.

Could it not be done any other day?

  • A few months ago was considering this shelf for the bedroom but honestly it really is cheap and nasty looking, with just 50KG per shelf.

Opted for the Pinnacle 4-tier shelf at 3 times the price but so much more satisfying aesthetically, and more practicality with 160KG load per shelf.
