When I see "gaming monitor" I expect it to be MINIMUM 144hz.

So many people get sucked in by the word "gaming" in the title.

    • What's the refresh rate?

      • +2

60Hz out of box, 75Hz with overclock

        • Lol. Ok thanks.

        • Many have had problems getting 75Hz with the native resolution. Reading on some forums, it may only be possible with Nvidia and FreeSync.

          See https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-25UM58-P-ultrawide-monitor for relevant comments.

Recommend buying with caution if you're buying this because you're expecting to get 75Hz.

          • @TheThoughtFraud: I have this model and always use it with 75Hz no problem whatsoever

            • @chewchew: Any chance you could give feedback on your setup? (e.g. FreeSync or not, confirming the resolution).

              • @TheThoughtFraud: I can totally run 2560x1080 at 75Hz. For Freesync, I’m afraid that I can’t tell because I’m just heard of it in this thread and I’m going on vacation

          • @TheThoughtFraud: This monitor gives me no option in the Nvidia Control Panel for 75Hz at the native resolution but only the default 60Hz through HDMI. But i only have an old Nvidia 750 Ti graphics card whether that has any thing to do with it.

    • What about console gamers? We only need 60Hz! :D

  • From when is the rrp? 2016?

    • I've seen this monitor on sale from like 5 different stores over 2 years, at least

  • +3

people said because of the wide ratio, 25" could be too small for some people

    • +2

Definitely too small a size for a 21:9 UltraWide. It'll be very low height that'll be annoying for most things.

I have this monitor and I paid about $200 at the start of 2017… But it's a really good monitor, especially if you like to one screen for word processing and the other for web browsers. Also awesome for spreadsheets.

Gaming wise, I only play a handful of games on steam or EA, and its not bad but it's not something that'll wow you compared to the higher end models

    • internet pages scroll downwards so i don't see how this ultrawide monitor will provide me a browsing experience

      • The pages aren't as squished when you have a web-browser on one half, and word processing on the other half. If you're using it as a secondary monitor, you can have it as portrait to see more of the page - mainly for lengthy emails or PDFs. These are just my experience and how I have found it better. It may not suit you.

Seems like it would be a great option if you had very limited vertical space.

Perfect for my mum's basement which is only 120cm high.

      • What is this? A center for ants? How can we be expected to teach children to learn how to read if they can’t even fit inside the building?

        • You think that's bad you try taking a shower down there.

  • Good monitor, but 25” ultra wide looks very small on the desk. I bought one last year from Kogan for $148 + free delivery.

  • I am considering a PC monitor for my dad instead of a small TV, say 25" plus, to save on electricity.

Considering they have no tuner I'm assuming they'd draw less power, and for a basic one (just for IPTV/video from PC/laptop via HDMI) I'm guessing cheaper too?

    Any thoughts?

    • depends if he wants to watch free to air tv ….tuner draws less power ….. it’s tricky to get small tv with fhd, lots are only hd.

if he doesn’t want the free to air, yes it’s a good option for iptv.

      • No. He only watches overseas IPTV. Tuner is completely unnecessary.

And very few channels come in 4K over IPTV anyway (not to mention Australian broadband just wouldn't cope with it, not from Europe).

So he gets HD quality over ADSL, in 6 months he'll be able to subscribe to FHD package without buffering, when he gets the NBN.

I have a full HD package and it actually looks better than Aussie free to air (Smart IPTV on my Samsung TV says 1920x1080) and I just have Telstra cable not NBN.

Ps. Price of 248 Polish channels? $2€/month. I bought Portuguese and French packages too, for the same price, and about 140 and 450 channels respectively.

Btw. Price of Foxtel (which I also have) is $55 for basic package and movies (that's at a 6 month $20 discount reverting to $75 after the offer expires).

I don't know how many channels I have on Foxtel, but it's nowhere near half that.

A 25" ultrawide? Must be about 4" tall.

    • Should be 9.85" high. I hope it comes with a magnifying glass.

      • Taller than the 15" 4:3 monitor that came with my first PC in 2001 and taller than the 15" 16:9 screen on the laptop I'm using. Almost exactly the same height as a 20" 16:9 monitor. Perhaps small by today's standards but not as unusable as you seem to be suggesting.

Having said that, I won't be getting one.

For everyone getting this, here are calibration profiles that I have published, as well as discussion regarding enabling the unadvertised FREESYNC function in the comments.
