  • not much of a deal given whats been available at dse and hn

For what is essentially a no-name brand, I don't think it's worth it given recent deals such as the ASUS X52JE-EX072V ($549) or the Acer Travelmate AS5742G-5464G50Mn LX.R5302 ($596).

Although both units are running on older Arrandale processors, the dedicated graphics and the lower cost make them better value in my opinion.

I think it's a pretty okay deal considering it uses the latest sandybridge CPU (a bit faster than the first gen core i5)

    It also has USB 3

  • $700 for a notebook that uses intel integrated video doesn't represent good value in my honest opinion

It's the i3-2310M, which mean it uses the Intel HD Graphics 3000. According to Notebookcheck that is comparable to a dedicated entry level graphic card such as 310M and HD 5450, so overall it's not a bad bargain, spec-wise.

I would never go to ALDI to buy electronics

I'm on my sister's Medion lap top atm that she bought at Aldi ages ago. Hasn't had a single problem with it yet. I'm actually waiting for them to have a pc deal since ours has crashed for the last time.

Aldi's have some great electronics, at bargain prices (eg. the electric blankets -today) >> such a bargain!

I agree. I bought the $269 Bauhn 58cm tv yesterday. Got it up and running in less than 5 mins. Watching it now. It's our first HD tv in the house. It's a bit small but it's for the study so not a problem.
