This deal is only applicable for existing Optus customer who want to add an additional service. After talking to Optus chat, I have updated my post.
Oh man… makes that $41 a month for 80GB with Optus and my own outright phone look like a crap deal! (Sarcasm if you couldn't tell)
If the outright phone is the same as this, it is a crap deal. $41 + $51. = $92 with a shit network. compared to
$65 + $20 = $85to a better network. (Not sarcasm if you couldn't tell)

What is the early termination fee of the plan. Once you have paid the $500 you own the phone. I know Optus have very reasonable cancellation fees and all you really have to pay is the remaining balance of the phone.
You gotta pay handset and plan cancellation fees with Telstra, whereas Optus is just handset

Because I am pretty sure the 256gb iPhone XR would then be sold for $800 in this deal.
So they retail for $1480 minus the $800 = $680 in savings.
