  • I paid more with Chibot's same deal with the 10% Groupon code😢

Only difference in deals is the Groupon code & Cashback now best with ShopBack than CR then. That will likely change quickly so would seem better to update original deal with Groupon code.

It originally included a 10% Groupon discount code & recommended the then 15% CR Cashback (in Deal Description). Those details were removed from deal when discount expired.
$4.50 using promo code LOVE today with 15% cashback from Cashrewards which brings this down to $3.83.

That other deal has a fair amount of discussion already. So worth a read.

Let the discount battle of the Cashback merchants & Groupon codes begin!

    • Did you get any confirmation after having entered all of the info, uploading the bills and viewing their plan?

I didn't get any email or text saying I would receive the gift card.

      • Did it about an hour ago, no email as yet. I took a screenshot of the final compare page (before the switch option) just in case.

        • Confirmation took 5 hours on Friday.

      • +2

Yes, a SMS confirmation - just above your comment in original deal. Took 5 hours on Friday, may be delayed on weekend.

It's a more complex deal. People have been worried by the lack of confirmation & uncertainty of using the site in the deal.

That's why keeping to 1 Deal & adding current discount codes keeps discussion in 1 place.

This deal's discount code will be expired at midnight tomorrow, which may make people think the Groupon Deal is no longer available.

        • Hey champ this is regarding one of your posts in the other deal thread. Just wondering how you managed to get 21% off electricity & supply charges with Origin. Did you ring them up and say you were going to switch providers or something?

        • Discount code is valid till the 17th, but the deal will still be live. Best to use the code over the next two days though!

    • Oops! Spellcheck changed dealbot to chibot as author of original deal.

      • No a change of username.

  • +5

Thanks OP. A free $21.50 for approx 3 minutes work.

I will convert it into a 4pack of Balter Pilsner.

  • +3

Anyone want a code? DM me. Seems I read NSW, SA as… WA…

  • +1

Heh. I compared both my electricity and gas - and in both case the amazing offer I could apply for was more expensive than what I'm paying now - electricity was $579 versus the $490 bill I uploaded….

At least shopback came quickly with $0.53 so in theory the voucher cost $2.97, so a free $22.03 (assuming the gift card and cashback both come through).

  • Ive followed all the step and viewed the energy offer, and all I see is the "apply now" button i havnt received the confirmation email from econnex. does that mean I havnt compare energy price correctly?

    • Same… On mobile if it makes a difference…

  • Electricty was -3 savings . lol and gas was " No Plans Found". WTF. Hopefully i get the confirmation email as i can't go to compare page.

  • Already with Alinta. Went thru the steps and got a "No Electricity Plan Found". Lets see if I get the confirmation email + $25 eGC

  • is it valid if you're an existing Alinta customer?

  • Electricity saving -$2. No deal. Waiting for woolworths card.

  • Actual bill $102.21, they will charge me the low low price of $129, few hundred extra per year, I'll pass even with their additional gift card offer.

    • $102.21 for what billing period?

      • +1

        Just a month 19/12/18-20/01/19

        • Which company are you with - thats so cheap

          • @proudwanderer:

Which company are you with - thats so cheap

            Or

She just doesn't use as much electricity as you, so it sounds incredibly , to you.

          • @proudwanderer: Tango, 337.84kWh usage if that helps. 96/day + 18.40c/kWh exc gst.

            • @Miss B: They had super cheap deals when I signed up when they were Pacific Hydro - 56.00 c/day + 13.30 c/kWh from my current bill (both + GST), I assume that's going to jump when my current contract runs out in the near future. The gov comparison site still thinks that Tango is the best deal for my usage though, so I guess I'll stick with them.

              • @ely: With Tango too.

                40 days: $121.74 / 403.74kWh

They're the cheapest in my area.

          • @proudwanderer: $100/month doesn't sound that cheap. That's about same as me before solar.

    • What? There is 3 people in total in my house. We conserve energy but our power bill is $2800 a year on average. Is this normal?

      • 2 adult 1 puppy household. We don't conserve energy, we certainly like our heater/air-con depending on the time of year. We tend to be a bit more expensive in winter, highest bill was $135 at the start of winter last year, but we sometimes had 3 heaters running. Would be around $1300 for the year. We do have gas as well though, not for heating at that place, but hot water/oven.

  • +1

May I ask a noob question, for step (4) does it mean that the correct way to compare is clicking VIEW PLAN? Any further actions required (such as APPLY NOW)?

    • im upto step 4 as well, i dont know what to do and i didnt receive the email yet?

  • over 15% more to switch,

  • over 14.5% more to switch,

  • Thx op I got one

  • I'm not following this deal, it's confusing. So I'm paying Groupon $5 or $3.50 for the privilege of checking my energy bill against Alinta? What's the coupon code for? I understand Alinta will send me $25 later for doing the comparison. This deal seems to work differently to what I'm used to when I apply a voucher code, I hope someone can explain it in terms I understand.

If I check my electricity, I can get $25. If I pay Groupon again for another code, can I get another $25 for checking my gas to the same address? If I pay for a third code, can I check a second property I own and get another $25?

    • -1

Limit of one voucher per person, purchase up to 3 additional as gifts.

  • About 35% more to switch. Worth the effort for the gift card though.

  • They aren’t terrible deals - the problem is most people on ozbargain wouldn’t be overpaying for their electricity and gas to begin with. More than expensive for me but only by about $30 for each. Easy work for the $25 wish card

  • I'm not sure their comparison site is working that well, mine also came out significantly more expensive with Alinta but the supply charge and usage rate are all less than what I'm currently paying. Didn't make sense to me.
    ?

    • +1

Was there usage and supply ex-GST? And were your rates inclusive of discounts?
It is most likely Alinta was actually more expensive.

  • Has anyone received an email yet?

    • I just did mine… no email or confirmation.. after all the deets moving to s comparison and 'apply now' screen
But seeing the first msg in this thread - suggests its 5hr delay for SMS or longer for weekend… may just take a screen dump?

  • I need help, I got up to the page that says "No Electricity Plan Found", so whats the deal now? no button for me to proceed further. Location is Toowoomba, Queensland

    • Same result here, no plans found. No way to progress through the comparison and not sure if I've met the requirements for the voucher.

  • Worth the $3.50 minus shopback to get the gift card. Nice deal. Now we play the waiting game…

  • Uploaded bill that had $98 credit. Alinta plan offered $16 credit. $82 worse off.

  • 32% more to switch. Thanks Alinta

  • So did the comparison about 10pm last night and the SMS confirmation come through about 2pm today

  • +1

$187 vs $136, 38% more expensive than my current provider (although even my current provider looks to be quite a bit more expensive than my current contract with them when that runs out). Guess I won't be switching, but thanks for the gift card.

  • Can I get two of these, one under my name and the other for my partner?

    • Yes. The conditions say one for yourself and up to 3 additional as gifts for others.

  • Will they use your provided information to market to you in the future ?

  • No Electricity Plan Found
If you see a better deal you can switch on the spot by hitting the "Apply Now" button. Start saving today…

Does this mean I lost my money?

  • Received SMS approx 3 hours after the comparison.

10-20% more expensive so no switch, but that doesn't surprise me.

  • +1

48 hours and I still haven't received an SMS or email. Anyone else still waiting 2 days later?

    • +1

      Same.

      • Thanks, sorry for you but makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one.

        • It's ok. I'll just do a charge back of no gift card.

      • Update, SMS just came through

    • Same

  • Anyone recieved a pushy call to sign up with a random provider and get an addition $75… very pushy
I was like.. dude I just want my promised $25 Woolworths egift card

  • Do they send gift card via email or sms?

  • yes very pushy, but it did got me thinking should I compare and switch?

  • +2

Still no gift card yet… hmmmm

  • +2

I got the SMS on Feb 16th, still no gift card :(

Has anyone received the gift card?

  • +1

T&C said: Allow 7-10 business days to receive your $25 Woolworths WISH eGift Card by email
Assuming business day means Mon-Fri, and taking up the offer on 16 Feb, by my reckoning the eGift card should arrive by 26 Feb - 1 Mar
So for those who took up the offer on 16 Feb, they have till Friday 1 Mar to send the eGift cards.

  • +1

Anyone received the gift card yet?

    • Not yet. Is this a scam?

  • Got my gift card today, I received an email earlier in the day to say apologies for the delay and to expect it in 24 hours. I got a call later today from econnex asking me if I had received the gift card yet, I told him I hadn't and he apologized and said a glitch meant some people hadn't received their cards yet. About 2 hours after the call it come through. So I'd recommend you pick up a strange number calling if you're still waiting on the card.

    • Able to share the strange number so we recognise it?

      • +1

        0264424917

        • Thanks heaps I had a missed call on 20/2 from this number - left a message with them to call me back.

          • @rodb: No worries, I will add in my case there was no marketing, they didn't attempt to suggest to switch, mind you my power bill showed they would be significantly dearer. Good luck

  • Have not heard from them. The funny thing is I cannot find the SMS I got from them back on the day as if it self destructed.

    • Same. I've had no communication.

I'll give it a couple more days and then get my $3.50 back.

  • Just received mine. Happy days!

  • Just got mine too, looks like another batch going out. Info for those still waiting
    17/2/19 Compared online
02/3/19 Got the email saying hopefully would receive gift card within next 24 hours
04/3/19 I replied saying still not received - got another email talking about glitch and they were getting this fixed at the earliest

    • Who was the sender of your email? Was it an email from Econnex?

      • Yes, all the emails I received came from Econnex. This includes the last one with a link to Woolworths for Gift Card. Check your Spam if you haven't already as I found the first email in spam.

        • Yeah definitely check your spam. My technical glitch email went straight to my gmail spam. I’m lucky that I check my spam one every little while just in case.

  • Still nothing here

  • Ah. Had gone straight to my spam folder as well - both the message about a glitch, as well as the voucher itself!

  • I've received my gift card now.
Below is what I got from Groupon when I was following up:

"In this case, please contact the merchant directly as they will have the technical expertise to assist you with this issue. You can call them at +61 1800 013 000 or send an email at [email protected]. You can also visit: https://www.econnex.com.au/contact/"

  • +1

    Still nothing for me.

Received SMS on 21-Feb and so far no emails or gift card at all.

Have already checked my spam folder.

    • Same. I initiated a chargeback with Amex yesterday.

  • What reason did you give for the chargeback?

I'm wondering if it's worth going through the trouble of a chargeback for $3.50

    • Item not recieved. With Amex it's a simple online process. Click a couple of buttons.

  • I also just found out if you are "moving home" then you're not eligible for the $25 gift card unless you fill out the application to connect to Alinta.

So if you are "moving home" and you don't want to connect to Alinta - then you've basically purchased the "groupon" for nothing.

    What a scam!

  • Scam. No communication or gift card received. Now they've got all our personal details - ID theft anyone?

    • Just got mine last night - don’t think it’s a scam but they have had issues getting them out. Maybe didn’t expect this many comparisons at once. The glitch/delay email I got was in spam so definitely check there.

    • Still haven't received mine.

      • Same. Sent two emails and still no response. Going to do a cc charge back.

        • I'll wait a few more days and then I'll do the same. They did call me (twice), but haven't received any SMS/email.

  • +3

This might help some people as i too was fuming. If using GMAIL, you probably will not find it in your INBOX, SOCIAL or PROMOTIONS folders. You have to navigate down and look inside SPAM, mine was already sitting there for 4 days. Hopefully you find your voucher there :)
