  • How long is the contract?

  • Is this 12 months or 24 months contract?
    40000 flybuys = AUD 200
    Google mini = AUD 149

    • +2

      Huawei watch = AUD 300

      • It doesn't mention about Huawei watch, are you sure we get a watch as well as Flybuys + Google Home?

        • +3

its as Bonus from Huawei , you have to redeem after buying phone

          • @JAY13: sweet!

          • +1

@JAY13: what a deal, get a 69plan with one of the best phones, smart watch, google home mini and also 75 bucks!

    • +2

Google Home. Not Google Home Mini.

    • 24 mths. minimum spend $1656.

  • Obviously this targeted but want to ask, do you recommend that I can chat online with Optus and they can offer this deal or will I be wasting my time??

    • you can chat with them, sometimes they offer similar deals

      • +1

was just chatting with someone from optus online and they dont deal with Flybys. They said I have to place the order from my end.

        • that's right, I got a mail too, it directs me to a specific URL, which makes it targeted.

          • -1

@Battlefield: Just in case, if you are not interested and anyone can use that link. Can I please request you to share that link.. Thanks in advance

    • +8

proof? Trump didn't even have it by the way. You can prove me wrong, so I can gift my Huawei to you.

    • +2

Wasn't it just that Huawei will give privacy information if requested by the Communist party? which goes for all Chinese companies because thats the law. I doubt any of us nobody's would be at risk. no more than any other company…i'm sure there are many companies working with government agencies..its 2019.

    • +5

They are all working with government, keep that in mind. But look at this way, you are just one in millions of people using the service. So unless you are a celebrity or something, then a normal person should not take it so seriously haha.

    • +7

No offence, but you are nothing at all. (Truth does hurt, though.)
BTW, isnt it the US that spies every other country in this world? Especially its allies lol.

      • +2

Agreed, normal people worth nothing, even the Chinese Govt would not waste time and money to spy on normal ones.
I dont think normal guys should worry about it unless you have something criminal.

    • +5

Evidences pls, if no, then shut up.

    • facebook has more data on you anyway.

  • +1

Can we get some more specifics? Seems like a ripper deal.

    • -1

What does it mean for us?

    • +9

it is mostly he says & she says, if you hold important intelligence and you want to hold from China you shouldn't use any Chinese phones, if you want keep that away from US, then you shouldn't use an APPLE or major branded phones. Remember western allies leaders' phones were monitor by CIA, Germen, Australia, UK etc etc? If you're in that field, you should know better. Why many US angencies were using susbicious equipment is beyond me. But hey, who knows for sure Trump isn't working for Puting?

If you're a nobody, who would monitor your phone?! only your missus.

If you really want to keep things private, you shouldn't keep anything important on any device with or without network access.

by the way, as a one party ruling country, most people are or were working for the party/country at a time. anyone would have some family, friends and neighbours etc working for the communist party. Guess who is not?

      • -3

No you should be using Apple if you value privacy. That gave the finger to the FBI and the FBI had to spend millions just to crack their encryption.

    • +1

Like you are so important and you want a best phone to keep all your secrets. Blackberry is the best option to be honest or just stick to Nokia 3740.

      • +2

        Blackberry is Chinese phone now…

    • +4

Yep, US had forced everyone to use their phones coz it will be easier for NSA, CIA to watch you.
If everyone uses Huawei, then the US depts need to hack into Huawei's mobile, then spy on you.

      • -7

I would rather US spying over China. Plus I don’t agree with them ripping off IPs from other countries

        • +6

your choice does not take over others. You keep your opinion , and others keep their own.
My personal choice is based on the phone, not the govt. Who can bring me the cheapest price on the best phones, I will turn to whom, no matter China or US.

BTW, US had ripped lots of IPs from the former Japan,German and the USSR, it is not very far away.

  • I understand Optus is not dual sim enabled…

    • +1

does the phone itself offer the dual sim? It really doesn't matter if Optus enable it - unbless you cannot request for unlcoking ?

  • -6

Is Huawei Phone good comparing with Samsung? Do I need to worry about my nude selfie being watched by President Xi?

    • +1

Only if you are super hot?

    • +1

Yeah, sure, as soon as you are Trump or other leaders. Otherwise, I dont think you worth the watch.

  • Got the Iphone XR, 25K pts ,$90 50GB offer only…..

    • +2

its on all phones , when you click on 'find out more' then it will show all the plans and phones there

    • If you're not after the unlimited international calls, and you have an existing Optus, this offer has 100GB for $72.1 with the same phone.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/438513

      But no Flybuys.

  • I'd be all over this if the $69 plan didn't have "Excludes Trade Up Customers" condition :/

  • iPhone 8 (64GB) + Google Home + 15k Flybuys + 30GB Data/month = $59/month.

    Tempting.

  • They must be trying to get rid of stock before the Galaxy S10 is released in a couple days…

    • Who cares, as soon as we can get it cheaper. Samsung wont be cheap, you have to pay $90 to get the same plan

  • +4

I am using mate 20 pro now. It's a great phone. I was previously an iPhone user, very disappointed by the lastest overprices iphones

    • Iphones are good designed phones, no doubt about it, just way too expensive. Huawei just makes high-end phones with reasonable price.

    • How was the switch? Looking to move over from iphone 7.

      • I have ip7 ,pretty…boring…feel the same like all the iphones before…

      • +1

I don't really have any apps that are iOS only so the switch is kinda fine for me. There is an app called "Clone your phone" or something to help you setup. It took me about 10 mins to transfer all my data from iphone to m20p

    • +2

I am the same, I jumped from Iphone to M20P and it was the best decision. You really get value for money

  • Damn it, contract out in June. Would have jumped on this in a heartbeat, great phone, plus the watch.

    • They used to waive some months off the plan if you are upgrading not sure now

      • +1

yeah, you have to still pay out the handset repayments.

  • +1

I have flybuys but why can't I see the deal? Any link?

    • flybuys should send you something, the link is based on the flybuys number, cant provide to others

      • Wonder if you can put your own in the link

  • -2

Anyone willing to sign up plz see this video. This phone has a serious issue
    https://youtu.be/r6lo8SU2NOo

    • This is a well-known issue and it has been solved.

      • +1

I thought so too but this was last month.

      • Who told u it’s solved? This is a well known never fixed issue.
Be careful of what u said, u r misleading customers.
Both LG and BOE have the screen issue and the later is even worse with much less battery life.
This means the screen issue is a defect of Huawei and Huawei is a liar.

        • It's solved. Whoever has issue with the screen can get it replaced by Huawei. No issue for my replacement phone.

        • You can take it back and get warranty. I don’t understand what your point is.

  • How can I get this email!!!! That's what I want to know. I'm with FlyBuys and no dice.

For those that received the email, do you know if it's also shown to you in your Flybuys online dashboard when logged in?

    • I dont have this one, but got the iPhone XR and 30gb plan. Both does not show up on my dashboard when logged into Flybuys.

      • I had received the email today, so …it maybe a bit late for some guys

      • It is the same. You can select different plans.

    • may need to call them

  • Reckon I can get this deal if I am under 18?
Or do I need to have a supervisor who is over 18?

  • +2

Just to clarify the email title says "Get the amazing iPhone XR with Optus and collect 25,000 BONUS POINTS". It doesn't mention Mate 20 Pro separately.

You have to click find out more, then find the section titled "Phone with Plan", Click "View All Plans" button below it, scroll further down and scroll right to find the phone you want.

There are a bunch of phones in the list. Mate 20 Pro is one of them and has 15K flybuy points which would equate to $75.

  • +1

So its 24 hours with minimum spending of $1656.

    40k flybuys = $200 cash
    Google Home = $149
    Huawei watch = $399

This works out pretty well as the net cost on this phone is $908
    Really good deal!

    • +1

Mate 20 comes with 15K Flybuys.

      • +1

Ah OK i got too excited. It should be $75 on flybuys.
        The net cost = $1033
        I reckon it's still a good value.

  • They also have Samsung Galaxy S9 64GB with 30GB data for $69 per month of 256GB model with 30GB data for $81 per month.

Razer Phone 2 64GB with 30GB data for $69 as well.

    Pixel 3XL 128GB with 30GB for $74. 64GB model with 30GB for $69.

All with bonus 15K Flybuys and Google Home.

    • Pixel 3 XL 128GB with 30GB for $74?? on a 24 month plan? That is too good to be true…I can't find it.

      • That's what I see when I click through the link on the targeted email.

Double checked - Pixel 3Xl 128GB owned (not leased) with 30GB data 15K flybuys and Google home showing for $74 per month. Min. Total Cost is $1776 over 24 months.

        • Omg.. I need this link! Unreal deal

        • Pixel 3xl or Mate 20 pro hard decision? I may just do an upgrade and loose Flybuys if I'm existing customer to get this deal?

          • @Buff: Just want to add that Mobile World Congress Barcelona coming up in 5 days. Hoping to see some really good launches there, especially for Nokia.

          • +1

@Buff: Remember you get a free huawei watch if get mate20 pro that you can probably sell for $350 to reduce the cost further.

          • @Buff: Depends on what you think is the most important, like camera? battery life? screen? gaming?

  • +3

Thanks Huawei $69/month with free google home, free Huawei watch and 15000flybuy points, very good deal

  • I won’t buy a gadget with serious defects no matter what the brand is or how much it costs.

  • Huawei watch use their own UI age the review is pretty darn disappointing.

I was on the verge on getting this with the phone but the watch end up being, well, I am wearing a galaxy so it has a big shoes to try and fill.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.digitaltrends.com/fitness-t…

  • All the above deals are for new customers only. Not existing. I can't port out if I'm in contract and I can't upgrade cause I'm existing with the Flybuys deal. But when I chat with optus they can waive off my early upgrades fee. But I must use the like to get Flybuys. Why so complicated.

  • I signed up this morning. I was planning to get the phone with Optus anyway. This flybuy and google home are a big bonus.

  • Can anyone help walk me through the steps to get this deal? My work Optus plan finishes on 26 Feb. I need to port my number to a personal plan (which non Optus plan would be best for few days)? I’m going overseas 3 March so ideally I want to port back to Optus onto this plan and activate global roaming before departing 3 March. Any suggestions much appreciated! Thanks

    • The only way would be to port out now probably and then port back into Optus? Will you be classified as a new customer though?

    • Port into Aldi mobile and then sign up with Optus you will be qualified. I switched to Aldi and back to Optus in 2 days

  • Has anyone been able to drop the link, currently Telstra and they have no deals for a recontract, this look good.

  • Very interesting in this deal but as someone who isn't looking for a new phone for a couple months - could we see a better deal than this in the near future?

    • Also, this isn't dual Sim?
And it'll be locked to Optus for 24months?

      • +1

One sim, not sure about the lock, will try once I got it

  • just remember this plan is a Lease plan so you still have to pay market value for the phone if you decide to keep it after 24 months.
