Morning all! :)

Was looking to buy the Cities and Knights expansion and did a search on Board Game Search but it was all looking a tad bit on the expensive side with shipping.

Amazon had it for $59.56 but found one seller ever so slightly cheaper at $58.99 (fulfilled by Amazon and eligible for Prime delivery).

  I like catan, I think their expansion prices are a bit ridiculous
  I bought it for $40; it is almost like the cheap printer of board games, where you get stung when you go to buy cartridges

  Cities and Knights was released back in 1998, when the number of different types of Euro board games were limited
  If I were stranded on an island with no other games but catan, yes the expansion would have been a useful addition (assuming here that Amazon delivers to said island).
  but for $70 there are so many better board games I could invest in today

    Actually it is worse

    you start with the base game

    then you add an expansion eg cities and knights

    then lets say a 5th player wants to join in

    you need to first add this
    https://www.catan.com/game/settlers-catan-extension-5-6-play…

    then you need to add an extension to the expansion!
    https://www.catan.com/game/settlers-catan-cities-knights-exp…

    so basically if you have the base game and an expansion it is still restricted to 4 players
    if another 1-2 players want to join in and play the expansion, you would need two more boxes

    haven't they made enough money in 24 years to eliminate the need for extensions if 1-2 players need to play
    24 years? oh we will have special 25th anniversary editions coming out next year!
