            • @Lilipeter: I think you get them with the normal deal through samsung,i guess the student discount rules out that option?

              • -2

@vishalpandi97: Just called them up again and apparently on the first 2 days of the sale they came with the buds but no longer.

    • +2

The Samsung education store very clearly states right on the front page that the pre-order bonus Galaxy Buds are not included with orders from them.

  • Pros of AU stock is the Australian warranty. Cons it's missing the hybrid Sim in some models, slower Snapdragon processor.

    • +3

You mean slower Exynos processor? The snapdragon is the superior version.

      • That's what he says!!

      • +1

Sorry yes the exynos is the slower one.

      • Slower but if you're looking to install custom ROMS in 2-3 years, Exynos is the way to go as the boot-loader is unlocked.

    • ah shush. No one cares about the processor. They're all fast enough for what most people do with phones

      • +4

It matters because the exynos version is also inferior tech (8nm vs 7nm) with a worse gpu. These things affect the user experience tangibly in the form of battery life and heat even if the actual performance doesn't matter to you. The track record for exynos in the s9/s9+ was also problematic. All in all, there is good reason to not buy the phone simply because of the SoC

        • So which one does the S10+ have? i.e. the model of the cPu

        • You linked to an old news published @3rd Aug 2018. Post the august 2018 software upgrade, exynos outperformed SD in terms of battery.. I personally got Exynos S9+ and easily get day and a half battery with moderate to high use. Post the Oreo, it has been even better and performance has been fluid…its my observation based on my device…

          • @EssendonUser: That's good to hear. I am not saying the Exynos chip set totally sucks. I am just saying that it is likely the worse of the two variants. It appears their battery life fix came as a trade off with processor power so the device was effectively throttled to improve battery life; and that was when both devices were on the same sized die (10nm). This generation, the exynos has the less efficient die so it has even more grounds to make up. Maybe they optimised the software even better this time, I don't know, but I am still very wary at this moment.

            • @Fiximol: Hei thanks mate for sharing the news on how it was fixed.. really interesting.. But as a user, different people have different priorities.. it wouldn't bother me if opening an app take 1 second or 1.1 second..but would bother me is how nice the screen and the audio is.. when it comes to audio, SD cant beat Exynos due the cirrus logic dac.. I personally liked the audio of s9+ exynos better than highest audio rated LG G7 (which has quad DAC)…For me its a trade off between my fav things (which I value more) to the fractionally inferior processing power…

              • +1

@EssendonUser: Indeed. Choice is a good thing. Glad you found a device that you enjoy!

              • @EssendonUser: I like having local warranty and Samsung Pay more than a fractionally better performing CPU that you will only notice in a benchmark.

          • @EssendonUser: do you have link for this where post upgrades Exynos is better than SD (last years' versions)?

        • Based on my experience with the Note 9, the Exynos version had a standby battery drain issue. Swapped over to a snapdragon version and it was far superior. The Exynos chip is definitely not slow in real life situations by any means but it's just not in the same level as a Snapdragon chip. Also bonus on the Note 9 Snapdragon version you get FM radio.

          • +1

@fastnet: I have no battery issue with my exynos note9. With normal usage throughout the day I get about 50% and light usage I get about 70% battery life by the end of the day.

            • @BlitzR: That's great that you haven't had any issues! So many variables with battery life (apps, signal strength, usage pattern etc) so it's hard to get an accurate measure. I just happen to get better battery life on the Snapdragon version with a similar app load and usage patterns.

      • The main thing people are concerned about is the efficiency of the 7nm snapdragon processor compared to the exynos 8nm one.

      • +1

        That's like your opinion, man

In all seriousness I will be waiting for snappy, because I think I would probably wake up at night in sweats knowing I had bought the crapper version

  • +1

    Wish Australia got this

Customers in the Netherlands and Belgium, is also giving a 46mm Galaxy Watch with the highest end Galaxy S10+. The individual prices of the three devices sum well over ā‚¬2000, but you get them for just ā‚¬1599. The devices will come packed inside a special box.

    https://www.sammobile.com/2019/02/21/10-year-galaxy-edition-ā€¦

    • Yeah I was looking for this for quite a while. None of the local reps I spoke to knew about it and all said it was unlikely it would ever make it to the Aus market.

      • Yeah Aussies getting ripped off again. So typical. Not gonna lie I don't support local sellers because I don't see a reason to

        • I was trying pretty hard to get one from Malaysia, unfortunately all retailers are out of stock for the 512gb. (Malaysia comes with a watch and priced around $1570)

          • +1

@Kentrolla: Yeah just wait til the dust settles. Too much hype atm

    • Singapore gets a free Wireless Duo charger and the buds.

    • +1

      Note that ā‚¬1599 is $2,549.24 AUD…

      • The top spec S10+ is 2.4k AUD. So an extra $150 for the 46mm watch.

        They get the buds also.

  • +1

    Any discounts on overseas stock?

  • +1

I want JB's deal for the 512gb Note 9 to come back šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

  • +1

god i was thinking about it then i remembered the home loan ;(
    Curse me for refinancing.

    • +1

Didn't you get a $2000 bonus for refinancing? If not, refinance again! Now you can make additional phone purchases

  • how does 2 year warranty work? say if my phone is faulty do i have to go through ebay/Samsung store or mobileciti physical store?

    • samsung, darling. The same as every other piece of technology out there.

If it's within 30 days (depends on the store policy), you can usually return it to the place of purchase.

  • +1

I guess this is currently the best deal in AU. However, these 'flagship' phones are way overpriced and being on the cusp of 5G I doubt the resale value will hold up as it has in the past.

Having said that, if the 128gb were dual sim like they are everywhere else but AU. I would probably pull the trigger.

    • 2021 is when 5G will be widely available

      • -2

Right, so when you want to sell your new (old) S10 in a couple of years to upgrade. Nobody will want it.

        • ok. Never sold a phone b4. Usually just send to a family member.

  • +2

Considering the cost, it would be best to read up on the Exynos 9820 (which is what we are getting) and Snapdragon 855 models.
According to Anandtech, Exynos version is consistently 15-20% slower than the Snapdragon version, making it significantly slower even the year old S9… making your new device effectively 2 generations old. And then comes the absence of dual-sim on the "lower" models… Why?

    • +2

Yes, I would prefer the snapdragon. I know it's faster but how does the battery compare between the two?

I was looking at kogan earlier and their 128gb stock is dual sim but doesn't state whether it's exynos or snapdragon. It's also about $100 more just for the phone and shipping cost of about $40. Approx $140 more in total.

I'll just scrap this whole pre order thing and wait until they're out. At least I'll be able to handle it before forking out $1000+ for a phone I may or may not like.

    • -1

Reason of giving us Exynos chipset? Think Aussies are fools to give the crappy version and overpriced as well???

      • Yeah, looking at the keen take up in the comments, it seems we are fools :(

      • It's always been that way and will continue to be.

Just import your SD or buy a different phone.

It's not a question of why are they giving us Exynos. The real question is, why are they giving the US Snapdragon? They don't want to, but Qualcomm has the patents on CDMA so in markets that require CDMA, they must use Snapdragon. If they had a choice, the whole world's Galaxy phones would be on Exynos since Samsung are the ones who make the chip.

        • +2

Samsung and sellers should at least make it clear at all times. 15-20% difference in performance is no longer a rounding error and in the age of the incremental updates, it could easily be a deal breaker.

          • @billy77: They do make it clear.

They've listed it in the specs that it's Exynos for rest of world. China, LATAM and USA get Snapdragon.

The specs released on Samsung Australia site says Exynos.

  • I'll be able to buy the phone and buds seperate and still be cheaper than Amazon. I think this way is cheaper even if you want buds.

    • Where would you get the buds seperately?

      • Gumtree/eBay will be flooded with them soon.

    • If you plan to buy the Buds separately, this deal is unlikely to be cheaper in the long run than if you use Cashrewards with Amazon, although upfront cost will be slightly more with Amazon. If you don't care about the Buds or if you can get them at a decent discount, this deal might be better.

  • i purchased the note9 3 months ago and now i've just purchased the s10+. damn you ozbargain!!!!!

    • send one my way, please.

      • And buy a Note 10 later this year.

    • But I reckon note 9 is fine as is. I won't buy S10, I am happy with my note 9.

  • +1

Since slot of people will be selling them because of pre-order I'm sure you could pick up a pair for $150 $200. So depending could work out bit more or bit less. Not worth the stuff around if you want the buds.

  • -4

I don't get why the buds aren't included since all preorders come with the buds.

Are they purchasing EPP stock and selling for slightly more than EPP price?

  • Any reason why we always get the crappy exynos version not sd. I'm sick of this kind of allocation. I hate Samsung for that reason

I've been a Samsung user since S2 up to S7E I gave up after prices gone astronomical and kept giving us the exynos version.

IMO it's no longer value for money

Get Motorola G7, Oneplus 6t,or even Huawei p20 pro

    • Something to do with Qualcomm having exclusivity in certain markets due to patents, making it impossible to release Exynos models there. If Samsung had their way, it would be Exynos in every market. But they can't, so they only use it in markets where they can get away with it.

      • The thing is Exynos is their own chipset and cannot even go on par against Qualcomm SD or even Huawei Kirin. It would even be worser performance wise. I really don't get it.

You would rather import a SD version won't you? With dual Sim and faster CPU and graphics I believe SD has Mali GPU

It's no wonder their mobile revenue shrunk.

They are gaming on S10 and S10 fold but competition is already here with Mate X

        • +2

Exynos is their own and if they use it they won't have to pay Qualcomm, so that's why we're getting it.

I'd rather local stock than import. And that means I can use Samsung Pay. The S10+ I got will have dual sim included so no worries there.

The difference in performance is going to be imperceptible to the eye. Only if you are measuring it in a benchmark are you going to see the difference.

    • I have just read that the US market still requires CDMA which is not supported by Exynos, which is why the US and China gets Snapdragon and everywhere else gets Exynos. The rest of the world have moved on from CDMA and therefore do not require Snapdragon.

"Qualcomm has the patents to manufacture and deploy CDMA technology in cellular modems and they use it exclusively on their snapdragon SOC's. Monopoly at work here so if someone wants to support CDMA not just in US but in most of the world, they have to install a snapdragon SOC's inside with a Gobi modem."

      (From Quora)

It saves them money to use in house solutions than to pay someone else, since most of the world no longer uses CDMA.

At the end of the day, they are a business, and the bean counters make most of the decisions.

  • I honestly don't feel exynos versions can compete with SD in terms of AI capabilities.

  • +3

just got confirmed, all S10 series are sold with screen protector on, all you gotta do is unbox and use :), due to 3rd party screen protector might not compatible with on screen fingerprint scanner hence Samsung provides this add-on :))

    • check whitestone dome screen protector .. claimed it works with Ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.. someone in youtube verified it. expensive though!

    • MKBHD also confirmed tempered glass does not work with the Ultrasonic FS

    • But it comes with a big hole for the fingerprint sensor

    • I saw an unboxing of the s10+ and it looks like a clear phone covers is provided (just like the note9) free

      https://youtu.be/S1xDr4ADUYc

    • It's getting more and more common you can't get normal glass screen films anymore

      • How so? I have never had issues getting screen protectors for any of my phones …

        • Ones that work with latest fingerprint sensors

  • Will they get more stock of the 512GB model for pre-order?

    • Ring or DM then n ask

    • +4

working with supplier at moment, will update stock qty in 15 mintues

  • Hope they do the same thing for the N10 when it comes out if the bonus is 'rubbish'/not useful.

    -G

  • Do you provide a tax receipt showing GST?

    • Have you read the OP?

      • +1

Sorry - my bad - I missed it first time. Thanks

  • Can someone confirm the s10 and s10+ 512gb AU or overseas models come with glass backing as well as porcelain backing only?
Apparently with porcelain back, it makes it slightly heavier.

    • Porcelain? You mean Ceramic? If you check some of the online stores, you will see that Ceramic is and option.

      • I don't know why I changed it to Porcelain. I initially had written ceramic. I must have thought ceramic can't be that much heavier than glass.

  • Does anyone know if the S10 will come with a free phone case?
I know the S9 and Note 9 did.

  • I wonder how/why they are discounting by 15% PRE-launch. Has that ever been done before? Yes it's via eBay so maybe eBay is taking the loss of profit for some publicity? Apple controls more tightly the price of their goods I think.

    • +1

This is Samdung and ebay colluding. Also no free wireless earbuds which is easily worth $200+

  • There was no option for free shipping with my Ebay plus so maybe change it in heading for others?

    • -1

Go through to checkout and you'll find it's free.

      • +1

I just ordered it and there was no option for free shipping so did pickup

    • +1

Don't know who Neg my comment but the listing is not Ebay Plus listed so no free shipping…

      Only S10e is Ebay Plus

  • Why would Samsung do this , every time right after release the price goes down. Maybe the intended price point for Samsung is lower , but this gives the customer the perception of the item dropping price too quick.

    • +2

I'm glad we've been given the opportunity of getting a pre-release deal without unwanted ear buds, without having to sign up on some 2 year contract, and without having to be a student, teacher or employee of some privileged associate organisation! Thank you TA and Mobileciti!!

    • This deal is for ppl who cannot wait and jump on bandwagon to get the latest and supposedly greatest. However I bet non tech savvy ppl will just get it cause it's s10 don't even care about SD or Exynos chip.

IMO there's no point getting any new phone at release or pre order.

Price drop very fast just like buying a brand new car. Except it doesn't drop like the moment you use it on the road

Think like a new game. Same thing pre order while you got a backlog already

  • Hey guys, what case are you getting?

    • +2

I've always stuck with Spigen cases. Great quality and fits like a glove.
