This deal may be worthwhile if you're purely after the points, however if you visit the Jetstar Mastercard website directly through a search engine, you'll find the annual fee for the exact same card is $0 (and it appears to be $0 annual fee for the life of the card)

    • Good finding.

    • Really? But I get charged $59 each year for this card. Has this changed?

Hmmm. A bit confusing. They say that you save by only having to pay $29 in the first year but don't seem to say what it is after that.

Also they say that earning qantas points is optional and if you choose to do it "A non-refundable Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards annual fee of $30 will apply to the Jetstar Mastercard and will be charged upon your first enrolment into Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards and then each year on the anniversary of your enrolment in Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards." Note that this is different from joining Qantas FF itself.

So just FYI it sounds like to get the 20k points it actually may cost $59…. unless the $29 is the discounted $30 ie you save a massive $1 in the first year….

    • Good point. Might need to call jetstar to clarify.

Yes, that's correct. I applied for this card a few years ago, thinking that $29 gets 20000 Points. However, it actually costs $59. There are better cards if you're after more points at lower cost.

  • $1 gets .5 of a point though.

  • Was gonna get this for the balance transfer but I have a Woolworths card and they are both Macquarie so no dice.

  • How long do i get to use the Jetstar voucher? I read 6 months, but isn’t there a regulation that it needs to be more like 3 years?
